When i play mass effect 2 and the intro plays the edges are cut off a bit, E.g. 0:25 the numbers in the bottom left corner, half the first digit is cut off, any ideas on how to fix or why its happening?
Well, they forgot about one thing: it does not differ how ,uch cash you pump in the resurrection -- the brain data is lost 5 minutes after death. Nothing can bring a person back after that. Well, exept ppl really having souls in ME unverse =)
That's how today's science see it. But who know, ME happen in 2183, we can probably find that they are not lost at all, like stored somewhere. Not to forget all those aliens technology well beyond our own in ME.
@Remosaur Correction.. That's how today's science KNOWS it. Since knowledge (not assumptions) can't become wrong with time, the result is not quite good.
Well -- like I said -- that's unless ME universe people do have souls where brain info is stored and thus the personality can be restored. Of course, that should imply magick on that universe as well with lifeforms of its own -- but that we can ignore =)
@ShadeAKAhayate IIRC, brain cell death begins around 4 minutes after death due to loss of oxygen, but the cells don't go anywhere so it's not information death. If Shepard was frozen before they atrophied, it's possible he could be reanimated, esp. since the cutscene seems to imply nanotech or something like it.
I'm more concerned about the fact that his/her hardsuit apparently survived planetary re-entry. At least the ODSTs from Halo had most of their re-entry vehicle slag off.
@rimmington01 If you want to preserve information in the neural net, you have to deep-freese the net inside these 5 minutes in a way that will not damage the cells themselves from water freezing expansion. But there's space around him -- so there's nowhere to find a cold spot to cool him down that quick. In fact, he was under the sun, which means he should be heated up instead.
@ShadeAKAhayate The cells will die regardless, but the point is that the damage done to the brain is (theoretically) reversible. That's the basis for current cryonics - the preservation method isn't perfect, but in the future we should have the tech to reverse the (hopefully minimized) damage.
@rimmington01 Yes, if neurons with intact synapses are frozen in a way that does not at least damage the synapses, the information restoration is theoretically possible. But that have to happen before the brain death, otherwise the synapse state is reset and information is lost. Even if the brain structure remains intact after that, it's of no use: there are more than 1000 states for each synapse. Basically, that transfers commercial cryonics to parascience in my book.
@ShadeAKAhayate Also, space is pretty damn cold - I'm no scientist, but I'm fairly sure a human in space would radiate more heat than they would absorb from the sun. Ironically, it may be the hardsuit which holds the heat and ruins everything.
Still, this is pretty irrelevant because PLANETARY RE-ENTRY.
@rimmington01 Space is basically neutral: it's almost empty and the heat can be carried out only by radiation. Like in a thermos. Any warm body in space will lose heat, but at a very slow speed and unless exposed to the sun, esp. at the distance we see it in the cutscene (semingly as close as on our Earth's orbit and thus with high heat radiation per square). No matter though, he's only got 6 minutes...
And let's leave the re-entry to the authors, he probably would have burned during it =)
@LouistheHedgehog I've been wondering about this too. I'm guessing it's in the soundtrack somewhere but I haven't found it. It's so dark and eerie, I love it, just as I love everything else about this game and the franchise.
@LouistheHedgehog I think the track is called The Lazarus Project and that can be found on the OST. That said, if there are more than one versions of the OST, I do not know.
