  • goood iron maiden is one of the best great bands in all the times

  • this is the studio version.. Iron Maiden mixes things up and plays loosely

  • Great Singer. Cool Guitarists. Groovy Bass. Insane Drummer. Awesome Band.

  • He's lip singing. This is the studio vocals.

  • Is this singer Nick Kamen?

  • @whitbyjet65 Paul Diano

  • Di'Anno was amazing, But bruce is incredible :D

  • Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuceeeesssssoooooooo....

Só faltou o batera estar de pé somente com a caixa e um prato!

  • omfg pure rock n' roll !!!

  • Flashing words for first 36 seconds suck. Rest of video very cool

  • Amazing Iron Maiden!

My band is covering this awesome song.

  • this isnt them playing it live there, this is the studio version off the album

  • i havent heard this in 3 years!!!!!!!!! i found it and all i gotta say is.........thanks for the introductory into the best music ever =D

  • difference between bruce and paul is that bruces voice haven't changed over the years and is still awesome, while paul was fucking great but his voice is total shit for like i don't know 20 years!!!!

and bruce was always better singer than paul, that is fact, he is the true voice of maiden!!!!!

  • In my opinion Paul Dianno is the better vocalist, dont get me wrong Bruce is good but hes to over rated

  • @TMalltheway I totally agree man, Paul Dianno has the true Maiden voice. The singer that gave Maiden the worst reputation was Blaze Bailey, Dianno mocked him because he couldn't remember the lyrics of Running Free. And also Blaze sang Bruce's era terribly. What's funny is, Dianno was gonna take Bruce's place after leaving, but after all the shit for being in jail and his restrictions in America that were goin on would of interfered playing with Maiden. So they got Blaze instead.

  • @IronMaidenSlave1978 Is that true Dianno would have came back after Bruce left in the 90s?

  • @Axemen666 Yeah but considering he had so many convictions and doing crazy shit in the US. they said it would be a problem for them.

  • D'iano rocks! Skizors?

    Jman

  • Love the song, but the video editing is horrible! make's me want to go into seizors and i'm not epileptic!

  • Sad, but right.

  • You would be Running Free, Paul, if it hadn't been for the benefit fraud

  • @nickwebster1975 Eh hes been in jail for worse

  • @nickwebster1975 really dude did you have to bring that up.

  • Paul Di'anno eterno!!!

  • very high energy ... this is my 2nd favorite, first is from a concert in japan

  • Comment removed

  • I really wish Dianno Clive and Stratton would have carried on elsewhere. Far as I'm concerned Battlezone were better than Maiden in the 2nd half of the 80s. With one good song writer and the other three they would have whooped Maiden's ass as they played their more crowd pleasing melodic galloping hard on the plains metal.

  • Is it just me or paul looks like elvis?

  • bought maiden japan mini lp at sears back in the day. this just rocked. so from lp to cassette to walkman for portable cardio inpiration. ha ha

  • THE PUNK ROCK INFLUENCE IS VERY VIVID.

  • Di' Anno was awesome when they were raw. Once they cleaned up and got polished he was too raw but I love the stuff he did with Maiden just as much as the stuff Bruce did.

  • even the girl from "The Iron Maidens" sings better than blaze bayley.. so much better..

  • i like the part from 1:20 to 1:30

  • eso es punk puro tssss

  • Does anyone ever notice the high pit vocal on the "Im Runnning free" is that Smith hahah

  • Just sixteen a pickup truck out of money out of luck

Ive got nowhere to call my own hit the gas and here I go

when music really had something to say

  • 7dislikes that means there are 7 justin bieber accounts on youtube

  • I never imagined Paul Di'Anno looked like this... he looks like he's in the late 1950's lol. By the way, isn't this playback? Look at 2:05...

  • @Sycopre offcourse it's a playback and also this is not in 1980.if it was there would habe been dennis straton not adrian smith

  • @akispnd I don't know every member the band has had. I'm a fan of Iron Maiden, but only to the extend of knowing the singers. I mean, they've had so much members there's no point in remembering everything. I've never seen young Paul Di'Anno before so if this is him, considering he was replaced near 1982, that would mean Dennis Straton left in the same span of time.

All that to say that playback is wrong: people want to listen to the band live, the band wants to play live. Everyone's happy.

  • @akispnd Adrian Smith joined in 1980 and the video is from late 1980 so hence why Adrian is in the video.

  • Good voice. Always liked it. Unfortunately Paul was a creep and the rest of the band fired him.

  • Annoying Editing no jutsu !!!!!!!....

  • This is awesome. but its either performed amazingly of lipsunk. which isn't cool...

  • liking the backings

  • Harris-Murray-Smith-Di´Anno-Burr = Golden Maiden Times...

Notwithstanding Bruce is a master, and Nicko has his thing!

  • @TrejosEd

i think that .. Harris-Murray-Smith-Dickinson-Burr.. was the golden line up..

in the beast over hammersmith concert you can see them!

  • @mangymetal You got a point there... I´lll check "the beast over ..."

    Thanks!

  • By the way:

Bruce has NO business with this one. This is entirey a D'ianno thing

  • This sad tendency sucks

  • worst editing ever!

  • @griskuk4 Thank god, I was hoping someone in the comments was as bothered by that as I was.

  • Gonna see these boys in about 30 minutes.

  • every member with 1 years old on this video LOL Maiden is my Religion \m/

  • Paul Di anno = Your father

Bruce Dickinson = Chingon but not is your father jaja

Blaze Baley = Es basura jaja

  • Gringos culiaos, niun brillo, son puros jiles...

  • kakjajaJAJAJAJAJAJj GRANDE MAIDEN SI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bruce Paul Dickinson -KING

    Blaze Bayley-GOD

    Paul Di Anno-SHIT

  • @ConcertHH Actually you should replace Blaze with Paul, oh and You = Fag

  • bruce was batter

  • This is the best Iron Maiden line-up. Their music had sort of punk style and feel and that's what I liked about them in those years, more so than the following years. Their sound and style was very different from other Heavy Metal groups and it made Iron Maiden a very unique band.

  • Paul's voice is definitely more original than Bruce. His voice is one of a kind. Bruce Dickinson on the other hand does have strong set of pipes, just like Ronnie James Dio, and Brian Johnson of AC/DC, but not very original.

  • paul di anno is GOD

    bruce is Jesus

    bayley is... half singer;]

  • rofl nice playback :D

  • Should have kept Clive Burr

  • @LucicPower Yeah definatley as he developed MS and sits in a wheelchair now.. he could pull of some awesome drumsolos now.. right?

  • paul si great!

  • Of course Paul could not sing at all, but this was the innovation -- being rough and honest.

Bruce is just the follower of Ian Gillan (vocals) and other old school men (Dio as a lyricist) , nothing new.

  • to doml1122 not insulting you but i swear i read some where di anno said he left maiden cause there was alot of bullshit meaning who was the manager of maiden was to controlling over everyone and the music as well he didnt get along with steve harris

  • Dianno was a great singer period. Rough cool voice, but he had a lot more range than he gets credit for (listen to some of the high notes on Iron Maiden and Killers). I like Bruce but if Paul didn't have his demons Maiden would have NEVER kicked him out.

  • I met DiAnno in the mid 80s when he was touring with his own thing and he was totally fucked up. The drugs were taking their toll on him. Three weeks ago, I saw him on his first US solo appearance since I believe the last time he was here. He's cleaned up his act- it was just like hearing Maiden on their first US tour in 1981.

  • @DomL1122 Yeah, I really do wonder what it'd be like if Paul was still in the band. Too bad he was doing quite a bit of cocaine back then.

  • Haha! So much fun at those TV shows! Keep followin' the playback and getting out of sync is so LOL! UP THE IRONS!! They are so tight as a band

  • Pual or Bruce I just like rockin the fuck out to some Maiden

  • i think that u cant compere bruse and paul... they have to realy diferent voises

  • BRAVISSIMI

  • paul i prefer the real iron maiden

  • I like Paul, but he is not as good as Bruce. Bruce is better than all.

  • Is this song in any of the Guitar Hero or Rock Band games?

  • I like this part 1:36

  • that pop and rock flash thing till 0:36 is so annoying lol...

    MAIDEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! rare lip-sync

  • I prefer Iron maiden with Paul Di'anno and Clive Burr.

  • @KrataEL34 Paul Diánno was worst singer but he had more personality

  • u replaced the live music with the studio music didnt u. i could tell

  • I was lucky enough to go see Maiden when I was a kid at the Ipswich Gaumont. One of the best gigs I've been to to date!!

I always thought it a great shame that Dianno and Maiden parted company. For me, Maiden was never the same when Dickenson joined the group. He's good, but at the time he joined, his vocals just didnt fit the sound that was Iron Maiden.

  • Man, you saw Dianno with Maiden? Lucky... I actually prefer him than Bruce. Not saying Bruce isn't good, Bruce is great. Just that when I started to listen to Maiden was when I got their first album.

  • Yeah, was the 2nd gig I ever went to. Outside of local bands that is, of course.

Bruce, as you rightly say is great. But for me, once I've heard a band using a given singer, then it takes something real special to improve on them. Much the same as when Brian Johnson took the place of Bon Scott - RIP - in AC/DC. The band was still amazing, but would never be the same again

  • Yeah, true.

  • Those two first Maiden records were amazing!!!

  • so what, if they are doing playback any way its awesome =)

  • thats not playback, its just the videos sound and image are not well put together

  • i think bruce dickinson is better than paul dianno

  • it is backing track just listen to the second chorus then you can hear 2 pauls!!!

  • Anyone who says Paul is a bad singer needs to just stick to gay metal. You know, Judas Priest, Accept.....

  • What's wrong with Priest and Accept??

  • Dianno had one of the most charasmatic voices I've ever heard. Didn't quite happen for him though. Shame.

  • Thank God for Iron Maiden! 80's belonged to this great band!

  • Glorious!

  • its not playback ..the video is just out of step with the sound...

  • Why is everyone fighting? Solid vocal, guitar, bass, and drum work on this.

Almost sounds like the studio version.

Clive Burr = best drummer for Maiden imo. Too bad he got MS.

  • well it sounds like the studio version cos it IS the studio version ! no one has ever played live @ "pop & rock" show...

  • ahh

  • they were playing live, but they couldn't remove the track and it was louder than them.

  • @ALkAi0s motörhead did, theey were the firts band to actually play live there

  • up the iron !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    blaze = very big shit

    paul = good

bruce = god of heavy metal

  • Seriously are there any mature people on this web site? Would you rather listen to Blaze with Iron maiden or, R kelly, Fall Out boy, Britany spears, or Jay z?

There is worst stuff out there. The thing that gives an Iron maiden song magic is Steave Harris's bass playing.

  • blaze is some good shit

  • UP THE IRONS!!!!! from Mexico

  • Paul looks so gay here! Dave and Adrian are so cute!! This has to be playback because the people won't let them play live! They're dipshits!!

  • you're gay

  • Hey, thats my opinion, I just left out, "Not to be mean or anything but paul looks gay here," Ok, so fuck off if you don't like my oppinon!! I wouldn't be doing shit if you said he was gay!

  • I just noticed something do all guitarist smile? cuz when Davey and Adrian were gonna do the little solo part in the beginning he came up to Adrian with a big grin on his face =D

  • Man the beginning of the video got on my nerves cuz it kept saying pop & rock over and over and all I thought was "c'mon we want to see Maiden for Eddie's sake!"haha its a good video though =)

  • jjjjajajajaajajajajajaj very funny RAWRIFFROCK !!!!

BLAZE IS A BITCH IS SHIT IS A HORRIBLE SINGER BRUCE DICKINSON IS A GOD OF METAL IS THE BEST SNGER OF THE WORLD

  • Bruce Dickinson = GOD

    Paul Di' Anno = JESUS

    Blaze Bayley = SHIT

  • Quatschkopp!!!

  • why you gotta knock blaze man hes a good singer. Technically better than Paul.

  • @RawRiffRock Bruce = Fucking awesome

Paul Di' Anno = Fucking awesome

    Blaze Bayley = fucking awesome

    You = fucking asshole

  • @RawRiffRock

    amen

  • @RawRiffRock so true lol

  • @RawRiffRock totally agree

  • @RawRiffRock

Blazse Bailey is not as bad as everybody thinks, Jesus Christ! >:(

  • @RawRiffRock And here's to the ace Clive Burr!

  • @nik1969100 I got a magazine last night and it had an interview with Clive Burr. He gave the real reason as to why he was sacked in 1982. He had to leave the tour for a short while because of his dad's funeral back in England then when he came back to play with the band, they weren't interested as they already had tabs on Nicko McBrain who was a close friend of theirs. Hard luck, Clive...

  • @Banner1979 the fuck... Maiden were even bigger bastards than I thought.

    Clive > McBrainless

  • @ColtraneTaylor McBrain is a good drummer and he's been with them for nearly 30 years now but Clive Burr was much faster and I reckon more powerful. I think a perfect Maiden offshoot band would have been Di'Anno on vocals, Janik Gers and Dennis Stratton on guitar, Tony Franklyn on bass and Clive Burr on drums.

  • @Banner1979 McBrain never had Clive's groove though. Clive's more in the vein of Brian Downey.

Yeah I should have thought of Janick. Good song writer during the Blaze era. Not familiar with Franklin but looks like he's highly rated. Actually Hopgood from Battlezone would have made a good second guitarist too.

  • @ColtraneTaylor Yeah, I think you're right there. Apparently, Paul Di'Anno said in Classic Rock in 2005 that he couldn't stand Dennis Stratton. He said he thought he was a git and tried to make Maiden a bit softer sounding. DiAnno had some pretty good guitarists with him in Killers. I would have loved to see him work with John Sykes of Blue Murder.

  • @Banner1979 I've got to hear more of Sykes, I liked him in Lizzy and Whitesnake.

  • @Banner1979 McBrain never had Clive's groove though. Clive's more in the vein of Brian Downey.

Yeah I should have thought of Janick. Good song writer during the Blaze era. Not familiar with Franklin but looks like he's highly rated. Actually Wiggins from Battlezone would have made a good second guitarist too.

  • @RawRiffRock Blaze Bayley = Moses

  • @RawRiffRock although Bruce has a better voice...Di'Anno is the best!Pasion,raw power,soul...this was Paul "the beast" Di'Anno...

  • every one that was or is in the band is kik ass!!!

  • definitely playback im afraid

  • Awesome

  • "Just sixteen a pick up truck

Out of money out of luck

Ive got no place to call my own

Hit the gas and here I go"

That part at the beggining is awesome.

  • Up the Irons! You said it...

  • This vid rocks!!! great song! Dave looks good :) lol

  • this kicks ass

  • que buen tema.....

  • wow 1980, back when people listened to real music

  • I prefer Maiden with Bruce Dickinson, but Paul is great too

  • bruce rules

  • Best video on youtube!

  • you got to admit, early maiden was great

  • This is such a sweet song, it is 1 of my favourite Iron Maiden songs ever. Long live Iron Maiden and NWOBHM.

  • THIS TRACK IS POST-PUNK

  • Thanks for the info.

  • Ha ha Paul was the original. I love the early stuff, after clive burr had to leave when number was finished, they lost alot of the original grind sound. Bruce was a good adition but Nicko cant hold a candle to clive!

  • OMG the solo team it was magical that few moments for me here in this chair, i just stop the video to write this

  • That group was the best of all I love first IM Paul was the better singer. You can think that song is from playback but it says paul was really good because it's alive!!!!

  • Iron Maiden the best!!!

  • Lip sinc.

  • Its an old video, its not lip sinc.

    Its just out of sync

  • its the studio version dubbed over a live performance dumbshit, u aint no true maiden fan if cant see or hear that.

  • Don't even try to pull that shit!

There isn't a day that has gone by in the past 5 years that i havent listened to Maiden at all.

This doesn't sound EXACTLY like the version i had, and i only watched 10 seconds of the video when i said that..

  • Paul Di'anno!!!!!!yeah!

  • its paul dianno he was there first singer know the facts

  • actually he isn't original singer for Iron Maiden, Paul Day is, but Paul Di'Anno is the first singer to appear on record and bring fame to the band (even though not as big fame as Bruce brought in)

  • Its not lip sung!

Its old, out of sync you morron.

    Its paul di'anno..

  • absolute moron, thats what u r

  • of course it's like the cd version as it is the cd version! all the promo videos have sound recorded before, not only the maiden ones

  • He's lip singing man.

its a playback of the recorded version..

  • yeah i noticed that it sounds just like the cd version

  • Agree!

  • agree

  • I thing that if Di'anno saw how Dicknson ruined this song in Live After Death he would drive mad! check that video and you ll see why. bruce is an excellent singer, probably better than paul but he should respect this song as it is one of the best early ones

  • not ruined at all

  • man ok do this to a song you created or if you took part in the album this is a song tribute to maiden and when i say ruined i mean that he played games with the crowd it would be well with another song but not with running free
