  • Good old english comedy.

  • I love On the Buses (TV series & films), but how Stan & Jack could pull so many birds with their ugly mugs is beyond me lol.

  • An unfunny, racist series.

  • @JuanMacready your thinking about love Thy Neighbour. But this is pretty Un-PC :)

[yes, I have many comments on here:L]

  • Cor Blimey! I'm watching OTB atm and playing this in the bround :L

  • I heard they originally wanted the iconic London red bus, but the company wasn't wanting to collaborate, so they went for the green bus, (another company), for the series. The films I suppose wanted the kudos of the recognisable, (the world over), London red bus. so painted them red, (or got red ones), for the films.

  • lol 1:27 blakey

  • has anyone noticed that the stering wheel changes colour

  • @TheMiditzermad Ha! well spotted!

  • I seriously find it highly coincidental that problems with the upload made it blank out at exactly those points....

  • I love Jacks reaction.COOOWAAAAR!!!

  • I didn't! How many times have I got to explain this? It was a fault that occurred during conversion on my computer

  • Why blank out the two scenes where the girls are showing off their knickers??

  • i liked chalky but u never saw him that much :(

  • They went in the Spray shop and was sprayed from Red to Green Da Daa ! :D

  • @NCTurbulence it was grand theft buses lol

  • who sang this song?

  • google it? :) unless u tried that already ...

  • fantastic

  • Much better then the crap on tv these days. Even quiz shows have gone downhill, it's all quiz shows with celebrities these days, whats happened to having normal people as contestants.

  • lol

  • easy, different companies. films were town and district, and the programme was luxton and district. sneaky, but thats how they did it. the programmes used few real buses, loddeka's, and a fake one i do believe. these were from eastern national. the films though, buses came in the form of bristolk k's. these were also eastern national and one of thoses used in the filming is still in existance i do believe (VNO 857). but the point is, they were painted red, and then leased from eastern national.

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • this is better than all the crap on tv today i watch it every day and allways find it funny

  • gay life on the buses???

  • I ATE YOU BUTLER ERRRRRRRRRRRRR

  • not a incompetent polish driver in sight those were the days.....

  • come on you lecherous lay abouts get that bus out !!!!!!

  • @dexta201 I HATE YOU BBBUUTTTTLLLLEEERRRRRRRRRR

  • Why were the buses in the film Red, and the buses in the series, Green?

  • The series was filmed at Eastern National's Wood Green depot using Eastern National's own buses which were green. I can only assume for the films, they purchased their own buses which were already red? Why they didn't repaint them to match the green ones from the series I can only speculate. Maybe everyone related to buses being red as in London? Good point phil1958uk

  • @BristolRE Actually the Buses in the film were originally Green as they were EX Eastern National Bristol KSW,s. They were painted Red for the films. I dont know why though.

  • @bryemycaz aha, seems a bit odd!

  • @BristolRE i thought some of it was odne in borehamwood elstree

  • @phil1958uk Hmmms never thought about it till now

  • I'm an American and I have a penpal in England and he sent me a copy of this movie along with some Doctor Who titles by mistake. But I'm glad he did because it was fantasic. Classic British Comedy at its best. Not like some of the shitty shows that they show on BBC America.

  • Unlikely to get it on BBC America, it was an ITV production by London Weekend Television.

  • your a right fooking helmet you like!

  • lol i love on the buses

  • Down Memory Lane and the Roman numerals tell me this was made in 1971and er..... Anna Karen as Olive looked a bit older there but she was only around 32at the time.

  • I was once on a bus.

  • is that so?...do tell!

  • Classic

  • Been a fan since i was 11 yrs old (i am 18) and no matter how many times i watch i'm always pissing myself laughing, it puts modern comedy to shame.

And the theme tune is immense.

  • this is just absolutely fantastic; my girlfriend is from Brazil, and I've even got her watching on the buses! (she's not impressed by my blakey impression though; she thinks its scary...). thanks a lot for posting this; cheers

  • i remember this it was brilliant

  • Oh the miss out ,the car wash girl and the up stairs way on the bus..........This is fantastic british comedy no word for it amazing...

  • u left out the good bits

  • A little known fact is that Reg varney actually took the full and complete PSV tst and passed to make the show and the films - even though the production staff had lined up a driver

  • brilliant, thanks for posting it!

  • what can you say...brilliant

  • Comment removed

  • old blakey is funny

  • Don't make em like that anymore !!

    Timeless fun !!

  • the sexy young blonde woman smiling at Jack while she goes to the upper deck, and is showing her legs, looks like the blonde female bus conductor who is massaging Blakey's lnjured leg, in part of the episode First Aid.

  • what is with the blacking out.

  • The blackouts are when you can see a ladies "posterier" in little white cotton panties...

Dont worry - i'll post an uncencsored version

  • can you tell us when you have done it.

  • Cheers about time someone did that!

  • "thats made my day that has. oh no! not the rest of the butler family. go on get that bus out".

  • By the way, Gay used to mean happy.

  • There's always Gay Life on the Buses. Iv'e not noticed Duckie.

  • oscar nominee in my book!

  • You're a dick

  • And you suck allah's vagina, you goddamn muslim lover.

  • @cleanisthebest you forgot the coons! lol, now its, there lots of coons on the buses, and lots of muslims on the buses. its so sad to see today. but what can you say really? fuck up. but still at least you can see the old days what it was like.

  • @cleanisthebest agree, there lots of coons, and guptas on the buses. and stabbings, knivings toooooo, there lots of trash on the busssess.

  • This was the most succesful film of 1971, even more popular than "Diamonds are Forever", that years James Bond release.

  • 0:45 do do do do do do Arthur! legend

  • I loved this show. Grew up with it. I loved the comedy. My 1st video is a comedy tvc. Check it out PRANKSTERS IN THE PARK

  • Lol, when Blakey gets splashed by the water you see it will only reach his knees, but it hit him in the face =P

I always laugh at that xD

  • @MetalMario123 I read about that, its funny what happens to him there, it is a crewman throwing a buckett of water at him, thats why you see the water reaching his knees and his face in the next shot.

  • Anyone advise me why a different bus company was used in the films? Easier to film elsewhere, perhaps?

I recall that The Luxton Bus Company name was used for the TV series.

Shame so many of the cast are no longer with us. Only Stephen Lewis and Anna Karen survive. How time flies!

  • 1 out of 5 stars man!

On the Buses makes me happy to be alive - quality! but these clips go black and are censored in all the best bits!

Only a Leftie would censor the opening sequences from the On The Buses movie! Surely? What's going on?

  • They weren't censored at all! Something happened in the conversion when copying from video to computer (or it happened in the upload to YouTube),

  • I bet YouTube dipped the picture - the miserys!

Seriously though - thank you for posting - you've gotta love these movies and this one has the best theme! Cheers!

  • @dtrc1969 "Only a leftie... "

    What are you, retarded?

  • @wpmorley01

    How rude! (None taken)...

  • Bring back the old conductor, not as much bother on the bus when there is 2 bus men.

  • I work on the buses and the laugh and patter hasnt changed at all.

  • Blakey olyan aranyos!! <3 xD

Nagyon jó ez a sorozat! :)

  • Váó, szal nálunk is ismeri valaki.. :D

  • The white haired man you see at 1:39 looks scarily identical to someone I used to work with about a year ago, but I presume it isn't him. Anyone know the name of the extra?

  • Omg 2:13... roy skeggs, that my Great uncle, i cant believe thaT!

  • does anybody know if this film is meant to be filmed after or before the series???

  • I sooo whish I could download this song!

  • You can download video's from YouTube using:

I've been using it for a couple of years, 100% reliable

  • i love on the buses i always watch it

  • Such a shame that they are all Dead now apart from the actress that played Olive and of course Stephen Lewis who played Inspector Blake...

    Classic Stuff...

  • great song

    great film

  • im a teenager and i love on the buses, awesome,

  • yea I'm a teenager to I love this series and film

  • That was my dad's shop in Rossington Avenue , Borehamwood that Olive came out of in the opening shots . Not only was he paid for the location shot , he got all the cast's autographs for me .

  • little piece of family history kept on film forever !

  • they will be worth a bit now.

  • Despite all the horror films they made, Hammer films made more money on this film than any other. It even took more money in that year than some film called "Diamonds Are Forever"!!

  • Get out. That's incredible. But I know my family watched this show faithfully and enjoyed it as camp as it was.

  • I seem to remember the blanked out bit involved Stan hooting his horn at a shapely young lady cleaning a car, who responded by raising her leg and letting Stan have a butchers at her knickers. Racy stuff indeed!

  • my home town :)

  • 2.37 the best ''here take these , they have only been used once '' lol

  • My Dad owned the shop which Olive comes out of...he was paid £200 to close the shop for the day ( about a weeks takings!) If you look very closely I am sure you can see him close the door behind Olive ( he always wore a white grocers coat). I think he only saw his shop 'on film' once, so its a shame he's not alive to see his shop become so famous on You Tube !. God bless him xxx

  • Awesome. :)

  • cccoooooorrrrrrrrrrrr@2:00

  • the best show in the world

  • That show was Hilarious!

  • omg london was better on the 1970s ther was old busses without no doors :(

  • I used to get so much stick coz my surname is Butler. Cult Classic of the era.

  • on the buses is the best show that was ever created...lets hope that bob(jack), reg(stan) mike(arthur) and mum rip :) live 4 ever the only survivors so far (olive and blakey)

  • Karl Pilkington never gets tired of this film. And he has a head like a f*cking orange.

  • Believe it or not Mike Myers partially based his Austin Powers character on Reg Varney. Being the son of British parents in Canada, Myers' dad would regularly wake him in the still of night to make him watch whatever UK programs were being aired. More often than not it was 'On the Buses'.

  • I'm the same age and live in the same area of where mike is from here we use to watch on the buses, dave allen at large, benny hill, some mothers do have them, faulty towers .. so ya alot of those shows you can see in mikes work

  • really i didnt no that and dont he own part of the rights to it

  • Britain looked well different back in the

    70's, it's well changed now.

  • @jack253 yer, it a shit hole now.

  • This was filmed in and around the streets of Borehamwood, Herts. Now home to EastEnders!!

  • The memories come flooding back. I used to travel to school on one of those old 'Guy' b uses. They leant over so far sometimes I felt sure we would fall over, of course we never did!

  • You'll have a great life: 'on the buses!!!"

  • Brilliant stuff..classic british comedy..how funny now that the lyric to the theme song says its a gay life on the buses and leave your bird at home!! ..lol

  • Rest in peace Reg. funny little man.

i agree with Mark there and hear a lot of people saying similar. Question is... are we gonna just lie down and think of (old) England or are we gonna just carry on and on and on and on.... getting too pissed to care.

Also, why has the scene with the girl showing her knickers, washing the car been blacked out in the vid above?

  • I love this film. This film shows an England that we have now lost forever. An England untainted by political correctness and multi-culturalism. An England where working class people had no money but still smiled, where you could buy a house with a mortgage and pay it off in 15 years, where you could walk late at night without fear of being attacked by thugs, where you could drive in London faster than 10mph. Now we have more money and lots of techie toys. But are we happy?

  • Very true, today's Britain is not a nice place to be.

  • I spent my Saturday watching the three films back to back

  • Hi all, I'd just like to in form you that the BBC have announced that they will be releaeing Ronald Wolfe & Ronald Chesney's, classic series Meet the Wife in 2009 (the complete series 1. Please pass this on to other fan's of Wolfe & Chesney. Thanks. Starring Thora Hird & Freddie Frinton. More info soon.

  • the lyrics are great - there's always gay life on the buses, you'd better leave your bird at home - lol, bet they didnt know the meaning would change that much.

  • Lol. I never looked at it like that. Very true!

  • y did 1:55 to 1:57 go blank

  • An error that occured briefly when processing the original footage

  • it the parts that show peoples bodys that you black out and BristolIRE is lying about an error

  • Britain was so different in the early 1970s. Council estates without hoodies, druggies, teenage gangs or multi-racial faces. It beggars belief!

  • Your a dick there were plenty of drug addicts, gangs, and multi racial people about in the early 70s they just didnt have knobhead papers like the sun to whip up pigeon brained morons to complain about them.

  • @tonymontana1974 to many coons

  • @comradesbl I'd much rather call a "coon" my fellow countryman than a racist dumb fuck like you. Go learn how to spell and get an education you moron and stop hanging around bus stations.

  • all three films are on saturday itv 3 i think.

  • You'll have a great life; 'On The Buses!'

  • rip reg varney part of my childhood watching on the busies

  • why did it go black for please let me know thanks.

  • An error that occured briefly when processing the original footage

  • yeah right it the parts that show peoples bodys that you black out

  • k ty

  • Probably because it featured women as the objects of male attention (one seductively washing her car and the other showing her knickers going up the stairs of the bus. PC gone mad! ;-) LOL

  • RIP Reg

Love all the 70s comedys and im only 23

  • same here althou only a 2years older

  • great video so sad what happend to reg varney

  • its not good to lose a legend but i think he will be pleased with his life and his innings don't you

  • A Television Classic this sitcom is

  • Reg your commedy would not have a place in the PC of the UK now, but there are lots of fans who grew up looking forward to the series and films, and as children we liked the commedy and the adults liked it for the adults interpration. Hope you and bob have a good laugh at all the re runs there are bound to be for years to come. RIP

  • rip reg hope you and bob grant are having a laugh up there . a lifelong fan

  • people you are such wallys on here this great tv ever

  • Even the music makes me laugh- its so cheesy and great, comedy will never be made like this again because of all the P.C around the world, 50 year old men chasing girls just isnt funny anymore to some people :(

    RIP reg

  • I'm old enough to remember some of his other shows as well.

    He was a great talent.

  • rip reg varney.

  • just heard about Reg Varney's passing.very sad.I've only seen him in On The Buses.Apparently he was a multi talented performer.Really funny actor-not the phony types you would see today. Many of those actors on On The Buses were all great. They made the show great. RIP Reg, you've had a great life.

  • Reg Varney 11th July 1916 to 16th November 2008

  • so sad to hear of his death grew up loving him and bob on "on the buses".

  • Reg Varney, R.I.P.

  • Reg Varney and Bob Grant with his beak-nose and massive teeth frothig over those birds. Classic!

  • my young son of only 18 months old love on the buses ever night . great we all love them . take a look at my videos to see my son watching them and leave a rating . thanks

  • i love this film. I wish i was a bus driver in the early 70s lol

  • Yes, it would certainly have been a lot more enjoyable than it is today!

  • indeed.

everytime i get on a bus the drive seems miserable, never says thanks or anything.

  • my great aunt was a klippy on Leeds City Transport and my grandad was a conductor on Ulsterbus in the 70's. my dad is still a bus driver today and theres a big difference

  • I sometimes catch the number 15 from Long Eaton to Ilkeston (in Derbyshire), and the old people are always the ones to stop and have a laugh and chat. They'll come on and say hello to everyone, pass a bit of banter with the bus driver, smile and start conversation to anyone and everybody. It really does make you feel welcome. But when the youth of today get on the bus, they snatch the ticket off the driver, with a mobile stuck to their head and have this bad attitude and rude look at people

  • why does it go black at 1:24

  • Never noticed that on this before! It happens ocassionally with my editing software

  • That's the part on the opening credits when Stan's bus passes a car being washed by a blonde in a short skirt and even briefer knickers! His attention is drawn to that rather than the road so therefore Blakey gets a soaking!

  • , I will soon have the documentry on my channel

  • I look forward to that

  • i meet bob grant,in weymouth,wot a nice bloke...

  • RIP bob

    BOB GRANT

    RIP

  • Sad story

  • Superb! They don't make em like that anymore!

The old buses are great too!

  • 'And you can get it on the buses!! upstairs or down inside' lol

    thanks :0)
