@dreamlikestatus that's what i love about animals as leaders. there are no lyrics. so you can listen to it and develop your own feeling to the song haha.
We need an Aussie tour here in the states. I wanted to see Dead Letter Circus when they came, but they were with Animals as Leaders (they are very talented, but its all instrumental). I would have went had Dead Letter Circus been with Karnivool or Sleep Parade. I need some lyrics with MEANING, music open to INTERPRETATION.
Haha that guitar piece (the one right after the first chorus and midway through the verses) sounds like it ought to be in played on Disturbed's Believe album, doesn't it?
@TheDobligator Dont bring up that piece of shit band on a Karnivool video, that band has had more success than Karnivool with there mediocre song writing and they decide to stop because there not making enough money?Disturbed have never been a real band friend but at least your changing your tastes
@cancerbotX Disturbed may not be nearly as good as art rock bands, and their song writing is clearly inferior, but they were one of the first bands (after Linking Park, whose first two albums I still love) that introduced me to rock, and in Disturbed's case Nu Metal. They were my favorite band for quite some time (until I got into Tool) and I still love them as a simple but great band. Albums such as The Sickness are just nice to jam out to. Though they may not be the most intelligent of bands..
@kaiserwatson Yeah and I love it. I'm trying to find a good store to ship it and Themata to me online. I don't quite see your point though. Perhaps you're making an argument as to why Karnivool is better than Disturbed. I was under the impression that my last comment made it clear that I was of the same opinion.
Karnivool need more than they're getting - they're an amazing band with, IMO, the best vocalist around at the moment; incredible and varied guitar riffs and intimately complex songs.
I wish Karnivool were bigger than they were. Everyone my age (16) listens to the likes of A Day To Remember, Black Veil Brides, and all those shitty screamo bands that all sound the same.
@InvertedBomber There newest album has influences from tool, you should check it out. Also check out Moshcam dot com for a full live performance from Karnivool, you wont be disappointed.
@InvertedBomber He's referencing guitar parts with syncopation. It's very abnormal in popular music, Tool is the only band that really does any kind of syncopation that is popular.
I'm an American. Almost all of my favorite bands and musicians come from elsewhere, especially the UK, and now Australia. The main exception is Tool, god bless them. American popular music is almost all crap. Why is that? BTW, Karnivool sounds more like Porcupine Tree than Tool, but mainly Karnivool sounds like Karnivool. It's just because of the complex rhythms they all use.
@SythOfDeath69er This is off Themata which doesn't really sound like them. Their next album Sound Awake though sounds totally like them (it's one of my favorite albums ever already).
I just found this song on a friends Facebook page and I'm quite impressed. Catchy!
People think they sound like Tool? Apart from some riffs being distorted and with interesting timing they're nothing alike! Tool would never play anything this poppy and catchy.
@Crosskeys thanks mate!!! we deffo appreciate it!! i was even talking about it the other day, how diverse the music culture is in Australia.......some Americans could take a leaf out of our book........too much hip hop, not enough REAL music!!!!! (please no haters....it's only my opinion, not hating on anyone) =D much love.
@Crosskeys Bullshit, this is all we got, the rest are bunch of emo shit like parkway drive, you guys in scotland have fuckin Alestorm! They kick serious ass!!
@Crosskeys LOL METAL!!!! This isn't metal buddy, this might qualify as hard rock. Its a good thing you're from scotland or i might think you to be mentally lacking.
@Crosskeys I was gonna say. You have Biffy Clyro, Mogwai and not so heavy but equally as good Frightened Rabbit. Scotland has surprised me with some of their bands. And also, who originated from Aberdeen? NIRVANA! So, Scotland has some ace bands up their sleeves.
And also, on a separate note... Karnivool are immense. Seen them twice now, and can't wait to see them again! Their sound is that much better live. Stunning musicians.
I love this song and i love Karnivool, for some reason I think the chorus sounds like the chorus in Because of you by Nickelback. Not that Nickelback come anywhere near Karnivool... Just think it sounds similar :)
Brilliant song, freaking love it. And on the Tool vs. situation that seems to be going on on comments, think they're different enough from one another not to need to be compared all the time, to be honest. I think both kick ass.
@bekim17 almost true, other than the strong fact music is about feeling and OPINION. although i do strongly favor more of 90s than new-age, a lot of it does sound like garbage, but you really do have to give some credibility for it, it wouldn't be there if NOBODY liked it.
Seriously one of their greatest songs, this is an absolute must listen to when I am driving or when I am laying down just chillin out. Its absolutely amazing. Ian, Jon, and Drew all kick ass fuckin hard.

Man I love their bass sound. It gives the music a sence of space because it's loud and the tone is really round, soft and low. In most rock bands the bass is subordinate. This is not the case here I think...
@jajajah86 You get a thumbs-up sir! Now if only someone could put out some decent Karnivool (and TBE, for that matter) tabs with accurate bass lines so I could try my hand at playing them! Bass is definitely an underrated instrument and one that is rarely used to its potential... but a lot of alt rock Aussie bands seem to be changing this trend.
@MoOsHw Sound Awake is brilliant, sorry dude. It's much more mature than Themata and based on your comment I'm assuming maturity isn't something you appreciate/understand.
@koehler1989 It has nuthin to do with maturity, I just enjoy Themata songs more caus of the heaviness and energy that it posses and that sound awake lacks in my opinion, u sound a lot more immature saying that to someone u dont know therefore u cant judge.
@MoOsHw How do I know that you're immature? 1. You stated that Sound Awake sounds "fucking homo" compared to Themata. 2. You're attempting to state that an album is bad. Music is not something that is "good" or "bad." Music is music.

@elvenwishes such a short time are you kidding me after their ep came out (Persona) it took 5 years for them to release an album (Themata) and all most as long to release the next..
This is the first Karnivool song I ever heard, the headline show last yr in Islington was brilliant - one of the best shows i've ever been to, I will definately be at the London show in March!
steve judd=insane...... although the guitar player recorded drums for this song. i met these guys when they played don hills in nyc this september. they were mad cool.
Karnivool were brilliant last night at their first UK headline show in Islington, London - i've been waiting to see them for a while.. I just hope they're not strangers to the UK in the future!

@polkhigh4touchdowns that happens with music vids. sometimes they cut parts of the song to suit radio and tv programming.

Brilliant. All I can say. The solo blew my mind...so much better than the mindless shred solos these days...

bits and pieces of the singing remind me of maynard james keenan
Jonnymadon 2 years ago 4
he and maynard sing totally different, can´t see the similarity
HomoRidiculus 2 years ago 3
Seek the similarity in the approach, not in the result
eloann 2 years ago
i sorta can...to me they're more like polar opposites in voice (maynard being deeper) but in the passion and attack i think they're very similar
Ullish1989 2 years ago
dude listen to the song deadman by karnivool if you dont tell me that 8:25 when it gets heavy that doesnt remind you of an epic part in any awesome tool song?
