There is an astounding amount of documented proof that the environment in which a pyschedelic experience is endured has a huge impact of the experience. The more clinical and stress bound the environment the darker the experience. The poor bugger needed time to himself without the authority figure grilling him. Had the environment contained friends and small comforts I've no doubt he'd have been off with the fairies enjoying himself.

As a kid I once took LSD when I was in my room alone, I didn't want to leave the house because it would awake my parents, if you are bored on LSD and have nothing to do it is a really uncomfortable feeling... like wanting to crawl out of your skin.

what most people dont realize is that with drugs like this the reason you are halucinating is because you have sort of hard wired your conscious mind to your subconscious mind at a rate of speed that your conscious mind cannot handle. which is why other experiments with this drug show that if you gave ronnie that same dose everyday he would not be like this because after extended periods of use the conscious mind catches up to the speed of the subconscious and you are aware of what it is.

sorry, but i have no sympathy for a dude who volunteered for this kind of experiment. also if the CIA were to use a person who had done a considerable amount of mind altering substances, that understood what was happening to them, this experiment would go a whole different direction, and the CIA dude would be the one going nuts. LSD trips are mental and once you are aware of that, & you realize it is your mind, then you can take control of your trip.

@PHOG1 I wouldn't go as far to say this was a CIA agent. The description says "CIA-funded". Keep in mind this was a grad student who consented to this, probably with the prospect of a shiny thesis at the end of the road. Call it exploitation of the CIA if you want, but it was a win-win situation.
