@iJeremyW Its all about taste. Right now I'm playing Twisted Metal and loving it. It has some SERIOUS network issues with simply connecting to a game, but what game doesn't have issues right after launch. I recommend TM right now.

@pokitisme BF3 is actually kinda fun. The only MAJOR issue is the mics. Trying to talk to your friends is like trying to make a cell phone call from a remote desert location on half a bar using Metro PCS lol. The graphics are nothing to write home about either, but overall it's worth the money I spent on it IMO. If you use Skype, then you should be able to play with friends and work as a team.

@TheColdThruster yea 24 sounds like a little amount of players but the game is seriously addictive-u get jets and choppers/jeeps tanks water riding light armoured vehicles and boats.not to mention realistic bullet actions like bullet drop at long distances meaning u have to actually like in real life use the ranges on the reticle.and destructible environments that u can drop a wall or building on a person and kill em.the only problem is u have to have a code to even play online

If zipper re-released socom 2 with better graphics and a few new maps, and the EXACT SAME GAMEPLAY, i would pay a couple hundred for it. Absolutely no changes to the lobby or gameplay, just changes we actually wanted them to make. This game is being returned soon. The amount of negative reviews tells me zipper did not once consider the majority opinion. I hope they are very badly burned in the market because of that.
Speaking as a fan, all i wanted from zipper was better graphics, new maps, and access to all the old maps, period. Who are these people talking to when they change these games against the will of the majority. Who is saying "yeah, make it completely different". Also, many of the socom fans are older. We work and pay for homes. We DO NOT WANT TO HAVE TO SPEND HOURS EARNING THINGS TO MAKE THE GAME FUN. All they needed to do was remake socom 2 with better graphics and more maps. Simple. Fun.
I played socom 4 for the first time two days ago. Its been a long time since i could play socom, so i was very excited. Then i played the game. I played 1 hour and now want to use the disc as a frisbee. The lobby is a staple of socom. I liked making my own room and having it posted on the list. I liked seeing rooms listed, and from the majority of the comments, so did everyone else. Why do these idiots NEED to fix things that are not broken.
id preferr push to talk, but fix the lag with that shit too so you dont have to hold circle for 5 minutes till you finally get to talk that way you dont have the background noise and the COD retards who dont really need to use the communication system and they pollute it with their garbage

Miss 3rd Person? I want to get a group of player to play in my custom made game mode in private match for MW3(Ps3). It will be 3rd person obviously. And search and destroy. I’m going for a SOCOM feel here. There are more details to make it as close to Socom as I can. There are 5 default classes for each team to resemble Seals and Terrorists already made so it doesn’t matter what lvl you are. Add me if you are interested. My psn is Verittaz.
But besides that, I really miss being able to join a room, with my dad and uncles and a few randoms, and kicking ass having pure fun. Crossroads, Frostfire, Desert Glory. I remember running around with an SP-10, the SEALs handgun, and getting MVP every game. Ah, nostalgia hittin hard, I really miss SOCOM 1 and 2. Bring that experience back Zipper.
Hey Turban, or anyone else who needs to know, I'm sure you found out already, but there is a feature in the options menu for S4 that lets you add the center dot to the crosshair, to make it a bit more tolerable. Won't fix the game, but hey, it's a step up I guess.

I would love to call you a complainer/whiner but I can't, If they re-released an HD SOCOM 2 on the PSN store, I would literally spend hours describing to everyone I know who does not own a PS3 why this game would sell the PS3. I may only be 20, but my all time favorite game is easily SOCOM 2. Got so many memories of taking turns with friends on our PS2s, they would bring their PS2s over to my house (I had the best internet) so we could all have fun.
I know how you feel sukmyturban. I'm a BF fan and I got BF3. But at this point, the game has very bad hit detection, new mortar campers with infinite ammo, very weak bullets that feels like your shooting cottonballs, etc. I feel like I've been played big time. I'm hoping they fix the problem. I've traded gears of war 3 because it was full of shotgun noobs especially the one hit kill double barrel shotgun. I rather play Dark Souls (which I am) than BF3 at this point. What would you do man?
@AgentCell Id say it's probably better to invest in a PC, as BF3 was specifically designed for that. Well, that's what I've been told anyway. I'm not a BF guy so I can't speak from experience, but I think you should play it there before you write the game off as a turd. Any decent PC game is always gay when ported over to console. TRIBES was a perfect example. Great game on the PC but absolutely horrible on the PS2 back in the day.
@D10343 Yeah and I own the first one. The problem was that there was this new double barrel shotgun that literally kills people with one hit even though you're out of the shotguns sight. The spread is wider than a woman spreading her leg wide in front of you. And people actually camp with that weapon until you close the distance. Trust me you won't like the game. If you hated the easy headshot in socom 4, you'll hate this shit even more because at least in socom 4 you had to aim.

Purposely waited to buy b/c of the problems you addressed (and still waiting), wasn't too thrilled with the S4 beta. I actually caught a few mins alone with Seth at Pax 09 during their MAG preview. He wasn't pleased that I was critical of Socom: Conf on things like the M16 taking more than two hits to kill. He couldn't hold a conversation with me about details like this. The "concussion grenade" is actually filled with high explosive and has an outer shell designed to not fragment. It was made to concentrate the power of the blast on the kill radius and reduce friendly fire by shrapnel flying.
What you saw on that video was a stun grenade that causes concussions. The term "concussion grenade" is not supposed to tell you it's effects. Inside a room, the blast can kill everyone even if they are outside it's blast radius.
@DeathAdder187 well finally somebody with some facts. Thanks for the expert advise. They still don't belong in Socom. They substitute half the gun battles and they blow up on impact. Is that how a concussion grenade works too? I doubt that.
@Blackwido88 Well I am no expert, but I do know that the infamous concussion grenade, the MK3, looks nothing like the one in SOCOM. It uses a M206A2 fuse, which has a delay device, not a impact detonating fuse like in the game. It has a 2m blast radius.
If anyone tries to make ANOTHER cover system game, they better do it right or just make a system that is based on hiding behind stuff (like in older games, durr) instead of having to press a button to tenderly dry-hump a wall.
MP7, SCAR, ACR, G36, MP5... All of these well known weapons can be operated by lefties, so I expect a "Super SAS Black Ops Navy Force Recon Marine SEAL Tier 1 Operator-As-Fuck" to be able to change his weapon to his left side even if for a short time.
i'm a socom 1 and 2 vet. I quit socom after 2 cause I know it was dying out just from playing socom 3. I really recommend you switching to battlefield 3 man. Watch some videos of that. You and I both know socom is dead, they sold out.

My only criticism is that for some of your points you could maybe include a little more gameplay footage to exemplify what you're talking about? Otherwise great, just what I was looking for. @swbfwarrior The gunfights feel very sloppy and inconsistent. They also reduced the grenade throwing distance soooo much now that almost EVERY SINGLE ROUND starts off with 5 or 6 people resorting to using the noob tubes to get their easy kills. The game and the people playing it now are in a sad sad state. It makes me want to puke in my own cheeks.

I think the video is pretty good. There's just one thing that you got wrong and it's the concussion grenades. I see a lot of people get this wrong. (I won't be able to recite it word for word) Stun grenades are given the term concussion because they are able to disable the target but, there is an explosive grenade that is called a concussion grenade. It is more deadlier than a frag. I know this because my dad is a former marine and also to give more evidence, here is a link that also proves it:

Confrontation was a pile of festering pig vomit, when you actually sit back and imagine what it could have and should have been. You are brilliant sir! Socom 4 has completely deviated from the Socom franchise in an attempt to assimilate and be more like main stream games such as Call of Duty. This game was a disgrace to the Socom Franchise and it is clear that Zipper Interactive had their head so far up their ass since there wasn't ONE SINGLE WATER MISSION. It didn't feel at all like I was playing Socom, but rather I was stuck in the middle of some crappy action movie with a John Wayne wanna be.
when it comes to spawning, in a "clan war" last night it came to the last round in a map and a clan mate didnt even respawn. he just stayed dead, which happens to me all the time... STILL

The gun play is easier because of the over the shoulder shooting, The cover system fucks up the camera angle like half time ( never use it) And the fact that the lobby system was swapped for a crap ass matchmaking is just obsurd... Let me know when they make Socom 2 HD so I can devote my life to something again... lol and no worries about the TK better that it's by you then some no name scrub :D

Typically I make these videos so I don't have to answer these questions or respond to the comments a million times. Do us both a favor and watch the most recent videos and I'm sure your curiosity will be satisfied. For the record, I think I've proven that I can adapt and conquer. I think the message you're missing is that this game could have been so much better.
@MrRanting Well, I said the same thing when I first started playing. Give it some time, get better at the game and then you'll slowly start to see what I'm talking about. If you and I are both lucky, this next patch will fix some of the major problems that plague this game. But trust me, if you're typically a good tactical player, you'll be frustrated with it pretty quick. Cross your fingers and hope this next patch does more good than bad.

I haven't been on Socom 4 since the network went down, it's just too aggravating, I've been playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 and I'm waiting for 3 to come out! Zipper killed Socom, if they deside to make a "real Socom" with lobbies, mics that work, and bring back Demo.... real Demo... I'll think about buying it....
Man, what happend to good maps like Frostfire. Anyone that has a Ps2, a brodband connection, and Socom 2 can still play online for FREE! We all know Seth Liuisi or whatever his name is will never make socom 2 HD unless he's replaced and/or fired.
Socom 2 hd (everything like it was) only addition.......maps that's about it. Even still Socom 3 wasn't as bad, but Socom 4 was too damn of a difference, that's fore sure...

If zipper re-released socom 2 with better graphics and a few new maps, and the EXACT SAME GAMEPLAY, i would pay a couple hundred for it. Absolutely no changes to the lobby or gameplay, just changes we actually wanted them to make. This game is being returned soon. The amount of negative reviews tells me zipper did not once consider the majority opinion. I hope they are very badly burned in the market because of that.

I played socom 4 for the first time two days ago. Its been a long time since i could play socom, so i was very excited. Then i played the game. I played 1 hour and now want to use the disc as a frisbee. The lobby is a staple of socom. I liked making my own room and having it posted on the list. I liked seeing rooms listed, and from the majority of the comments, so did everyone else. Why do these idiots NEED to fix things that are not broken.

I would love to call you a complainer/whiner but I can't, If they re-released an HD SOCOM 2 on the PSN store, I would literally spend hours describing to everyone I know who does not own a PS3 why this game would sell the PS3. I may only be 20, but my all time favorite game is easily SOCOM 2. But at this point, the game has very bad hit detection, new mortar campers with infinite ammo, very weak bullets that feels like your shooting cottonballs, etc. I feel like I've been played big time. @AgentCell Id say it's probably better to invest in a PC, as BF3 was specifically designed for that. Well, that's what I've been told anyway. I'm not a BF guy so I can't speak from experience, but I think you should play it there before you write the game off as a turd. Any decent PC game is always gay when ported over to console. TRIBES was a perfect example. Great game on the PC but absolutely horrible on the PS2 back in the day.

@D10343 Yeah and I own the first one. The problem was that there was this new double barrel shotgun that literally kills people with one hit even though you're out of the shotguns sight. The spread is wider than a woman spreading her leg wide in front of you. And people actually camp with that weapon until you close the distance. Trust me you won't like the game. If you hated the easy headshot in socom 4, you'll hate this shit even more because at least in socom 4 you had to aim.

That game was amazing I loved it and I was amazing at it but that's not the reason I dislike the new socom games it's not that I can't get over that they've changed it from back in the day hell I'm amazing at COD too (Thanks to s2 and counterstrike) but seriously? Purposely waited to buy b/c of the problems you addressed (and still waiting), wasn't too thrilled with the S4 beta. I actually caught a few mins alone with Seth at Pax 09 during their MAG preview. He wasn't pleased that I was critical of Socom: Conf on things like the M16 taking more than two hits to kill. He couldn't hold a conversation with me about details like this. The "concussion grenade" is actually filled with high explosive and has an outer shell designed to not fragment. It was made to concentrate the power of the blast on the kill radius and reduce friendly fire by shrapnel flying.
What you saw on that video was a stun grenade that causes concussions. The term "concussion grenade" is not supposed to tell you it's effects. Inside a room, the blast can kill everyone even if they are outside it's blast radius.

@Blackwido88 Well I am no expert, but I do know that the infamous concussion grenade, the MK3, looks nothing like the one in SOCOM. It uses a M206A2 fuse, which has a delay device, not a impact detonating fuse like in the game. It has a 2m blast radius.

I think the video is pretty good. There's just one thing that you got wrong and it's the concussion grenades. I see a lot of people get this wrong. (I won't be able to recite it word for word) Stun grenades are given the term concussion because they are able to disable the target but, there is an explosive grenade that is called a concussion grenade. It is more deadlier than a frag. I know this because my dad is a former marine and also to give more evidence, here is a link that also proves it:

If you and I are both lucky, this next patch will fix some of the major problems that plague this game. But trust me, if you're typically a good tactical player, you'll be frustrated with it pretty quick. Cross your fingers and hope this next patch does more good than bad.

I really liked SOCOM 2-they just keep going down and down and down. My kill to death ratio is hilarious I have 87 deaths and 7 kills. the aiming sucks. Bring back II

I haven't been on Socom 4 since the network went down, it's just too aggravating, I've been playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 and I'm waiting for 3 to come out! Zipper killed Socom, if they deside to make a "real Socom" with lobbies, mics that work, and bring back Demo.... real Demo... I'll think about buying it....

Man, what happend to good maps like Frostfire. Anyone that has a Ps2, a brodband connection, and Socom 2 can still play online for FREE! We all know Seth Liuisi or whatever his name is will never make socom 2 HD unless he's replaced and/or fired.

Socom 2 hd (everything like it was) only addition.......maps that's about it. Even still Socom 3 wasn't as bad, but Socom 4 was too damn of a difference, that's fore sure...
