  • how many sawfish there?

  • Hi Julia - sorry to be late in responding. There was only one sawfish - it kept cruising back and forth close to the beach.

  • Sting rays seem to have the intel of mamals

We came up on a lagoon like that and these two Dolphins were mating i presume and they were so mad they tore out of there and about tipped over our boat ! the power was amazing it was a full sixe 7 footer . it made a mini tidal wave leaving .

  • Very cool Don! I spend a lot of time in Tampa Bay and have never seen a sawfish. They're so much more abundant from Charlotte Harbor to Florida Bay, but you're very lucky to have seen one and for so long!

Are you sure the object on the dorsal fin isn't a tag? There is a lot of effort in tracking sawfish. Often the tag gets covered in algae.

  • That would be my guess. If they were tags, they appeared to be the kind that look like a piece of weedeater line - very thick monofilament.
