hiya i have an i7 processor quadcore, with a 5240 ATI RADEON graphics card and 6 gigabytes of ram and yet when i play GTA 4, it tends to lag every 5 or so seconds. all my drivers are updated/installed and i was just wondering if you had any problems that u fixed or suggestions as to what is wrong

Don't get a vid card with 512mb of video memory.

My spec: Phenom 965, ddr3-1600 4gig, ati 4850, WD BLACK 1T Sata3.

Basically... my cpu and ram are only on 50% load and the only thing that keeps me behind is the video mem. I'm running the game on 1440x900 with texture waulity on med, everything else is the highest it gets and the view distance is only 39 with my vid memory being used 529/500. I just thought I'd share.

its because those specs arent that good for the game, you really need a high end pc to play smoothly

You need more processor power... i have the same vidcard and 1gb ram and i only have 2.01ghz processor.. it lags like heck.. im willing to bet if you get a 3.0ghz+ CPU youd probably run it very smooth =)

@Somesk8Mate we have about like 10-20 of us at a time you should reinstall its really awesome you should play :) top amout of us so far is about 40-60 in a custom server (were only been playing for about 2 weeks maybe 5 weks tops :)) you should have it installed by atleast 2.00pm in the united kingdom time zone i guess that your in uk yes ???

for windows xp I suggest maybe 4gb ram, but if you use 32-bit it can only use 4gb including video card memory as well.

Check out my newer video - I have practically same specs as you but with 1gb gfx and quad 3.4 ghz, I run about 35fps+ at all high.

Bought the game. It runs on mostly high settings, but draw distance is set at 26, and texture quality and shadow quality are on medium. Frame rate stays fairly study, except when the action is most hectic when I'm driving, and cops are chasing me. Then frame rate drops considerably. Not a real detriment, of course. Just glad to be able to play this on a pc capable of higher resolution than the ps3 version. It's hooked through HDMI to a Sanyo 32 inch 720p, 1080i wide screen tv. Looks gorgeous.

I would have a problem into the game. Logitech Cordless Rumblepad is out of order 2 gamepad worked perfectly till then into the game amig I did not put it up the 1.0.2.0 patches if somebody can help I ask it let him write greet :)

GHZ is just a rating of processor speed. Above 2.5 is good on a dual core. 3.2 ghz is good for single core but still sucks. GHz=gigahertz. 2000mhz=2ghz. If you dont have enough GHz it means that your processor isnt fast enough basically.
