At 3:30 is sounded like you swept the cut-off frequency, or maybe the resonance, on the "far away" sample, then put that swept frequency envelope over the sample and put it on the pad. How did you do that??
@sneakitout If you have the EB16 fx card you can do that with the filter that comes with it. If he doesn't have the fx, he may be using the velocity to control the standard low-pass filter.
Hey man, you know that egg cartons do not work as a sound proofing material whatsoever and are equally as useless if attempting to use them as a diffuser? You may as well line your walls with flat pieces of cardboard.
@KLARENZ87 parents? wtf are you a lil 9 year old kiddie? go and listen to bieber real hip hop heads are with 16 on there own and buy the shit because the word hard in da ghetto. parents ..what a pussy!
I guess you don't know a lot of things about 20Syl, the guy started his own band in 1995 (HP), created one of the most successful DJ group ever (C2C) and has been working in Hip Hop for years. the reason he has all those things is because he worked for it.
I love all the adds you had, but it sound a bit of "too much" to me.. maybe like the guitar only all 8 bars or what ever.. just more air inbetween.. but still sounds doper than most producers I've seen on youtube!
my favorite beat video on youtube. this is mastery of the equipment and overall, a celebration of eclectic musical chops. you've got some serious talent.
This is a true craftsman at work. Pay attention kiddies, those strange tools 20syl is using are called MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS. Say it with me now, ME-YOU-SICK-AL IN-STRU-MENTS. VERY GOOD!
20Syl tu es vraiment fort..Un gros big up pour ton taff et à Hocus Pocus que je suis depuis longtemps . Un moment fort que tu nous as fait avoir à Genève au Palladium même après Oxmo !! ;)
@MrMastermind1985 One way is working with absolutely no time correction ;-) But you should make a beat and listen to it on different swing percentages and find out what's best.
@dachi89 You can actually do good music when you actually inspired by REAL musician( De la Soul, Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, Pete Rock...) And you got these other wack ass rappers that be watching BET all day hoping to become the Next Lil Wayne or Soulja Boy!!! See in France they appreciate the REAL. Mather Fact Real hip hop is more present in Europe than it is in America! No Diss...
i'm lovin this song..... you have my dream setup..... damn, where you keep pulling all these dope instruments out of? what else you got back there? I think I found my new fav producer.
@onzen11 i would've said stop after the drums, sample, and bass bcuz its so tight not to mess with it, but everything he keeps adding takes it to even another level.
That's exactly what i thought, Seem'd like he could've made the beat right there, But he keeps adding to it. But that what makes it such a dope beat and him such a good producer.
!!!!!!!! as if i just saw a billy cobham and geaorge duke vinyl!!!!! ive thinking the same thing! ive been trying to sample ivory tatttoo that song is sick!! yknow just the guitar riff...... wow, and the beat is pretty dope.
Love C2C and love the idea of making loops on an MPC. Why though, as a DJ, could he not hear the beats being out of time with the metronome and being out with the rest of the elements afterwards. My natural desire to make beats match made me cringe. They're clearly not sloppy guys so what happened? I love you C2C!
Dope beat! Man I remember when I first got my Mpc I saw this dvd with scratching on it in musicians friend or prosound! I copped it I was amazed how you made a beat before I learned

Alot of beatmakers prefer not to quantize the hi-hats and snares to make the drums sound more natural instead of perfectly timed.
