  • Superb!!

  • watch?v=OtrI118zC6s&feature=channel_video_title

  • Whassup UnforgivenLepperMessiahEscape. I played Judo when I was @ high school (15 years ago now) but a few years ago Yama visited New Zealand and did a little tour of some dojos. When he went to Queenstown my dad (OG judo player from the hard days, trained with Ebii sensei and Kimura sensei Kyoto 70s/80s) was lucky enuf to have Yama stay at his house. Dad said he was just a regular joe, good dude, liked a beer and played with the kids (my little bros and sis) he's a real champ, a real gentleman!

  • Horrible! Terrible song! Please don't show this video to Yamashita with this song! PLEEEASE!

  • metallica*-*

  • MY HERO~

  • woah, yamashita is a hell lot bigger than inoue.... :DDDD

  • what a monster these man i wish i became like him just littel bit :)

  • My trainer used to call me Yamashita.... I was honored... :D

  • zenosfire if yamashita is ur sensei u must train at tokai uni ?

  • BIGGGGGGG BOY!

  • this guy is my Sensei's Sensei.... incredible man, both of them are.

  • Does anyone know Yamashita is doing these days ?

  • Turning water into wine and curing leprosy.

  • LOL of course how silly of me to ask

  • yamashita....humpf.minotauro rickison,royce all mastars of dojo.

  • What an idiot.

  • You studied Osoto gari,

    and ashi technique

    his favourite

your armed with a powerful technique

now go find a BJJ guy to destroy

  • Good job, Yamashita awesome.

  • Yeah, he looked fierce on the mat and with his size I thought he was pretty scary, but he's actually a very nice guy in person.

  • dude!!! what a song to put with this vid!! 5*

  • ...And justice for all by Metallica from the album of the same name in 1988..

  • What's the name of choke at 1:00?

  • great vid it combines my two fave things judo and Metalica!! YEAAAAHHH!!

  • Master Yamashita is one the top three athletes ever, and probably the most underappreciated due to the lack of media coverage of his sport. But he was second to none in his combination of balance and strength.

  • he pput in so much time that he knowes so much which makes him legend

  • The takedown at 0:49 is Osotogari

  • saito vs Yamashita were some good battles

  • No question one of the best judokas ever to walk this earth

  • that takedown at 0:49 it's called ashi guruma!

  • Isn't that a osoto gari? :P

  • my fav throws are now osoto and ouchi gari.

  • Tai Otoshi all the way man :x. O Soto Gari is my second favorite. I also like Seoi Otoshi.

  • Actually, he's known for his Osoto-Gari and Ouchi-Gari.

Every good Judoka has a decent Uchi-Mata, Tai-Otoshi and Seoi-Nage.

  • Awesome video! But Yasuhiro Yamashita is 8th Dan, not 9th - well not yet anyway :)

  • Now that's a sik take down at 0:49!

  • This guy used to teach Judo in Dominican Republic

  • yeah the best in uchi-mata like me :p

  • emm Uchi-Mata? :P

  • el mejor judoka pesado de la historia

  • Whoo! He's rocking the osoto gari!

  • Man that Uchi-mata at 1:40. Textbook.

  • rashwan is the man he prefers to get silver instead of playing on the injured leg of yamashita

  • When did yamashita receive the title of 9th Dan?

  • He's amazing! His record is over 200 wins undefeated

  • And 116 Wins No defeat 3 Drews against foreign judoka in his life.

He did never lose in international events.

  • Judo and JUJitsu, I've done both.. very good for a one on one street encounter..not so good for multiple attackers..add some mui thai and you got yourself a well rounded system. But it depends on your personality and body type.

  • nice vid! he executes his osotogari from almost impossible positions. amazing to watch!

  • Metallica kick ass, not unlike Yamashita

I don't do judo, but am interested in martial arts as a whole but don't know which to do.

If anyone has recommendations please tell me, I mostly want it for better self defence, but also competitions too.

  • Brazilian jiu jitsu and judo! Either one of those would be perfect for you

  • this man is a true gentleman, when my coach was very ill he sent a copy of his book and a wonderful letter as a mark of respect. there is no one bigger than him on or off a judo mat

  • Yeah! Yamashita Rules! thanks for the comment!

  • Agreed my friend. I wish I knew him personally too! Great fighter and man also.

  • He's only an 8th dan. Neil Adams is a personal friend of my extended family and he clarified this for me!

  • he use red belt. thas only for 9 a 10 dan

  • The red is only for the fight...two fighters both wearing white...easy to get confused. That's why fighters wear white & blue gi's today.

  • if siertos, you're right, red was used to distinguish competitors in the competitions, and is also siertos that Yamashita is the 8th dan, I will find out. But it also used the red on the 9th and 10th dan to

  • In regular training or non-competitive events, he would wear red but usually in competition, he would wear black...please correct me if I am wrong but I have never seen a high ranking judoka wearing anything else but black in competition.

  • Nice video bro i like it good luck to you

  • Thanks man!
