@MYOLcrew04 The bars were too low. I was on a hill, my knees would hit the bars while i was riding. But, It blew up in about 2 months, I bought a 1980 cr 80 for 35$ the other day and using parts off it, because this 80 in the vid needed a crank. so im almost done with the other 80 and will be making a vid. oh and i have a KTM 125 that i ride mostly. This 80 didnt have all the power i thought it shouldve had. oh well. i might get it back running someday, this vid was a loonnng time ago.
I have the same bike except I have a after market swing arm and I changed the grips and the seat color to lime green and mine only costed 450 and looked brand new and totally rebuilt
@ladiesman1732 This one blew up in about 2 more months, needs a crank, so im not gonna bother, The bikes not worth all that money anyway. Yea we were going to fabricate it to fit an rm 250 swingarm and shock and drage race it but it blew so that idea went through the window. haha
@motocrossXisXawesome yea man. It was a pretty bad little bike but it had a crappy off brand piston called an ART and it blew and somehow screwed the jug and the crank bearing. had a hotrods crank in it though. Im on another project now. a 1980 cr 80. i bought the motor and he threw in the old rusted out frame for free. i sanded and rewelded the frame, painted it in the shop and put new rings and clutch in the motor and wired her all up, runs but doesnt have an air box,any idea where to find one
@worldskater31 nice little project. those old elsinores are hard to find parts for these days. i would try looking at ebay. whenever i get an older 80's or 90's bikes, i always look to find a complete parts bike with like a blown motor so if u need any parts, its all there. but good luck with that 80. there fun little bikes. but if i were you, i would move up to a 125.
@motocrossXisXawesome yea. i have a 2002 KTM 125 sx that i ride mostly. this little cr 80 is just a play around bike i bought for next to nothing. What do you ride? Im probably going to have alot more vids this summer if everything goes as planned.
@worldskater31 well i got a bunch of bikes. i got a 1986 rm 125, 1995 rm 125, 1988 kx 250 and a 1989 rm 250. those are just my main bikes as of right now
yeah its a realy nice bike but the cluch should not be that hard to pull you should be able to pull it wit to fingers unless the tenchiner is to hard try looseing it
@MrWINMEDIA yeah about 2-3 months after this vid, it blew because of cheap replacement parts. crank bearing is almost out and i need another cylinder and a top end. so its still blown and been sitting in my garage for over a year. if you find me a usable cylinder from 87-2002, then you give me a message.!
@dasjuden27 yeah i know they are pretty bad but my friends 89 rm 80's powerband is very unforgiving! i think ill try to adjust my powervalve if there is one!
@ohcanadaman1 na man. Georgia farm and ranch. dont have those anymore and the bikes been blown up for about 4 months. haha! cant find a usable cylinder anywhere!
@MrLaxmonkey123 first GOOD kick lol. the kick start is so small and you have to go under the foot pegs to get it to turn all the way over. i love the old two strokes though! turns out that i got it COMPLETELY rebuilt. new rod new piston rings cranks seals reed cage. but after that i rode it for about two hours and ther was a los in powerband so i took it apart and turns out the piston was cocked sideways and the ring had collapsed and come out the exhaust. now new cylinder, head, reeds and topen
@trx7000 this was not my original account so how about you take your assumptions elsewhere. This is for people who arent jackass's. Also, you dont even know me. so how the fuck do you know that i would skteboard? by my username? no i do not. this was not my account but it had my vids on it where my cousin put them oon here. so i just kept it. fuck off if your gonnna be stereo type about a group of people.
@199conman yeah but its about to go out now i think. so im probabaly gonna rebuild the clutch in a bit. ive had it at the shop since feb. 6th and im gonna make avid of all the stuff thats happpend. its been crazy ill tell ya that.
your clutch probably needs the cable adjusted to be a little better by the clutch perch where it bolts to the handlebars take the rubber dcover off if its still on there and theres a little adjuster thing there you just loosen it a little like half a turn and that might work
thanks but goit it fixed and i jus got this thing completely rebuilt and it ran for a day... shitty mechanic. pisses me off... now we bought a brand new honda plug and it started after like fifty roll starts and i rode it and there is no powerband. i think we blew the piston again/.
i know,,, but when i bought it they told me it had had all the things i said. but i took it to my mechanic and all they put in it was a hot rod connecting rod and a new stator. so i am spending 500 bucks.. which is a huge discount, to get a FULL rebuild, crank seals, new motor mounts, new pivot works swingarm bearing kit... also, in this video the motor had oil ALL over it bcus of the exhaust missing the spring. got a new one of them. im getting it back this weekend and making a new video!!
yeah. that is a pretty big job though. im getting this one rebuilt and its costing me 450$ but i get a discount :). ill make another video of the bike after its fixed. i figured out that if you watch the video and it doesnt idle. the crank seals have been breaking and they were leaking air. so im just getting the whole topend rebuilt and a new back tire afterwards.
nice bike i hope you like it and enjoy it because its a wonderfull dirtbike i have one for my self except mines a 1994 cr80r lsn your clutch isnt regular go check it out mine's really soft go check yours by a near mechanic other wise its a beautifull bike
thank you but mines completely restored and is almost a vintage. so its rare unlike the 90's dirtbikes/ the plastic around the canle on the bottom end was to tight so i cut a bit off. its soft now but now i need a spring for the exhaust. it blows oil out alot now so im getting that fixed and i need new crank seals and maybe my reeds are damaged getting them fixed this week. thanks for the comment.
really?? ill try that. i made it a little looser by cutting some of the plastic covering off the bottom where it goes inside the motor. thanks for the help/
Hey man I swear we got the same exact bike!!! Same bike same year, same Price, same add ons. Onlt differance is i got an overiszed fmf on my bike, but we got everything else the same. Nice bike!
If it's a brand new cable, then that likely won't help. There might not be enough slack for the clutch - check your service manual to see how much "free play" is required for your clutch cable. I assume the clutch works ok otherwise? (seems to be fine watching your video)
yeah thanks, unfortunatly i do not have a manual for it but ill see what i can do for it. most likely would be about the same free play for it and a newer cr 80. thanks again for your advice.

happyman199 1 year ago
@happyman199 why did noone likem? can you still getem? where can i find info onem?
worldskater31 1 year ago
the clutch is tight because the cable is not properly lubricated
it wont hurt anything but if you put some grafite lubrication down the cable it should loosen up. or it could just be to tight
