Reggie Bush has TONS of back skills! just not necessarily tailback skills. Great return man, great to catch passes out of the backfield and in the slot
its funny hw they were rediciuled for picking this talented young man over the overrated hype machines , reggie and young , it was the smartest thing to do picking him over them , where are they now huh ??? reggie doesnt evenhjave a single pro bowl and is just overrated
Yall are so FULL OF SHIT!!!!!! how did you guys know?? when everyone in new york boo'd the hell out of the texans even there fans when they passed on reggie bush! now all of a sudden you guys loved the pick from day 1??? Lets be honest NOBODY thought reggie bush was gonna suck in the NFL everyone thought he would be the next barry sanders or gale sayers and ill admit I thought he was gonna be REALLY good and ill admit me along with a LOT of others were wrong.
@Playakev21 yeah how many houstonians do u have up there in New York? 20? The stats are all that matter, besides, what we needed at the time was a DE, at least more than a RB or a QB, (which we did need). Truthfully, most of us were praying they wouldnt pick up Reggie or Vince, but it still took our breathe away. And with Gary picking up the Rookie of the Year, DeMeco Ryans, in the second round, and Matt Schaub in a trade with atlanta, it all made sense. Kubiak had a plan the whole time.
A whole lot of people did'nt even know who Mario Williams were coming out of College. they thought it was all was a joke and they all laughed and wondered why Houston Passed on Reggie/Vince the the real people like us Knew the Deal and i thank God that i was one of the Good Guys like #90 Mario Williams who is only going to get better he is only 24 yeara young. remember people laugh at what they do not understand! Peace...... #21
Yeah, there are a lot of people who owe Charlie Casserly an apology for the things said about him after picking Mario over Bush. It is clear now why he worked for the NFL and everyone else didn't.
The WORLD owes him a Blow Job, for all of the Reggie Bush Bull Sh*t he went through. Especially those idiots on ESPN.
Anyone who, knows football, understands the NFL is a passing league. and those players that effect the passing game are of greater importance. LT, DE, QB are thee most crucial positions. RB are a by product of systems and can be acquired at any time. Even if Reggie Bush wasn't a bust, He would NEVER be a crucial as an edge rusher.
Steve slaton WAY better than Bush 1228 on the ground his rookie season and 50 catches... Bush will never see 1,000 yards on the ground he likes to run outside this is the nfl not the ncca .
mario williams is a beast!! i live in houston..so i can recall the times i saw ESPN and heard "wat did houston do??" well i tell you wat we did god damnit..we got a guy who isnt injury prone and isnt dealing with all emotional bullshit thats who we got..i bet you everysingle person doubted mario williams feels pretty stupid now..thanks lol :DD
I loved the Mario pick from day 1 mostly cause i knew kubiac made so many 6th rounders/undrafted guys rush for 1,000 yards but you NEVER "find" a dominating DE... but unfortunately those who laughed at us at the time seem to avoid the subject or downplay it now when they were SOO ADAMENT back then!!
Vince Young: Pussy. Can't take criticism, he was nearly comiting suicide because he was booed.
Reggie Bush: Good Return man. No back skills.
Mario Williams: 2006-4.5 sacks. 2007-14.0 sacks. 2008-12.0. He's 24, and hasn't even hit his prime yet. This kid has the potential to be the next all time sack leader.
@MiketheInferno when you posted this comment, reggie was only 24. Now he's 25 and your saying he has no back skills. Your retarded, reggie has the potential to go pretty damn far if he didnt get injured so many times. Also, the Saints had 3 great RB's, Thomas, Bell, and Bush. They all have their own skill set, which made the Saints extremely versatile on the run this year.
Even though he wasnt the #1 RB on the team this year, he still averaged 5.1 yards rushing, 7.1 recieving.
@campbellraiders So you think a first overall draft pick RB needs two other RBs so he can play well. guess what? We dont switch out mario williams with two other guys, and he can still play at an amazingly high level. MiketheInferno was just saying that Vince Young and Reggie Bush is a pile of shit compared to Mario Williams. and Reggie Bush is not a good RB, Chris Johnson and Adrian Peterson and Arian Foster are good RBs! They are the ones leading the NFL, and help their teams the most.
@MiketheInferno Also, Bush has the occassional return that goes for a td, but he's a better RB than PR. He only got like 4 yards per PR i think.
Bush also only had 70 carries and 5 TD's. Now, don't get me wrong, i'm not comparing to johnson, but he had 358 carries and 14 TD's Everyone who thinks they know shit says the same thing, but considering he did well this year with the opportunities that were given (even though ignorant fans miss that fact) i think the saints will give him more chances
@MiketheInferno Yea gotta agree with you. Mario is a beast and definetly future hall of famer.... Vince Young again...i dont hate him but he isnt solid overall. Reggie can go far as back if he wouldnt keep injuring, although i dont think hes that good what everyone was expecting..
@MiketheInferno Look what Reggie Bush and Vince have done. Playoff seasons and a superbowl. What has Mario done? An 8-8 seaon and they even have the best reciever in football. Marios Great, but you make the others seem pathetic
Reggie's team won a superbowl because he has the best QB in the league on his team.
Vince went to the playoffs because his team was good, not necessarily him.
Mario's team hasn't gotten to the playoffs because the team around him is average.
Mario is the best of the 3 players. Just because the Texans haven't made the playoffs its' Mario's fault, nor is it Vince's or Reggie's credit for getting their teams to the playoffs.
@AdrianPetersonFan369 Im just saying you and all the other Texan fans are making it sound like Reggie and Vince are pathetic players. All 3 are great players! If I had to pick one, yes id draft Mario. But Vince kinda wasted his great talent with his attitude and Reggie is really benefits his team as a RB, slot receiver, and return man. Just depends what you need.
frontdoor1208: you are a retard... vince young got beat out by a 40 year old for starting position... reggie is doing alright but mario is play the best out of the three... o yea... i love the eagles for kicking yalls ass
I'm a Saints fan, and even I admit Houston made the right choice. Like you already said, he went to the Pro Bowl this year, and should have last year as well. I'm not even mildly impressed. The first sack, the Broncos were trying to block him one-on-one with a running back. On the second one, he got a clean-up sack (the LE and LDT, by virtue of the stunt, pressured Cutler and trapped him in the pocket). The last one was because Cutler stepped up in the pocket to dodge the rush from the other side and ran right into Williams's gap; the right tackle had him perfectly blocked.
Ive posted this on a lot of videos. Reggie Bush is not a future of hall of famer. Im a Carolina Panther fan and i can safely say that Mario Williams is the next Julius Peppers and potentially will be a better all around Defensive End(Not football player However)
well theres dwight freeney he gets lots of sacks but not #1 and Kyle Vanden Bosch even though he aint great but good but ya mario williams 15.5 this year
I just noticed that we have the number one pass rushing player in the AFC because mario came in second with 14 sacks and Jared Allen was in front with 15 and he left to the vikings in the NFC so that leaves Mario in front for the 2008 season
this guy remindes me of another first overall defensive end and that guy's name was bruce smith if he could do anythimg colse what bruce smith did he won't be called a bust
I saw this game at a restaurant it was the best moment of my fan life i remember calling the restaurant to see if they were going to pass the game and i told my dad lets go theres probally not going to be many people when i went i was amazed how many texan fans we had in laredo texas and i loved the atmosphere of that one game i actually wanted to cry when the game was over
Mario Williams' numbers were as good as Kyle Vanden Boschs' at the time the pro bowl votes were finished. At the time they were in I thought Mario was being screwed. After the last few games Vanden Bosch did put up some more impressive numbers but I still think Williams should've gotten in there.
what the hell was that receiver thinking jumpin gout like that? he could've easily gotten a touchdown the old fashion way. he was trying to be fancy or something? what a dumbass
I'm not even gonna front, I'm a Cowboys fan til death but I actually enjoyed watching this game. The Texans looked like they were starving, Mario Williams played his ass off and the jerseys were lookin' hot aswell.
6'7 290 and a 4.6 forty is god-like, but because hes on D he will have to put up amazing numbers to be considered better than reggie because we all know the running back is more popular than the lineman in the eyes of an average football fan
Mario didn't really have a terrible rookie season. I mean yeah he didn't get many sacks (4.5) but he got several tackles and didn't miss any games even with his foot injury (which killed his pass-rushing ability). He'll be fine though as long as he's healthy.
Because Reggie Bush was supposed to be the back that only comes around every thousand years or so the analysts might make you think, and Vince Young led Texas to a national championship in one of the best football games in college football history where Matt Leinart was on the losing side of. Mario Williams didn't have any of that happen. If he was playing in a bowl game or national championship making game changing sacks left and right people might talk about him on those other guys level.
hahahaha, all you guys who were talking crap last year about how the Texans messed up haha. I'm not even a texans fan but it's really ridiculous to say something like that before even seeing the guys play for a while. I think it's always a risk to draft a running back that early, doesn't always pay off and most teams find good backs later in the draft. Reggie could still be good, but I would take a potential hall of fame defensive end over a potential hall of fame running back anyday!. USC sux!
im not a texans fan at all but i want all the "experts" who ripped williams for being drafted over reggie bush to come out of hiding, be real men and admit they were dead wrong.dead wrong. williams is a beast.
Who fucking cares about Reggie Bush? That dumbass can't run. Might as well become a WR because if you can't run between the tackles Bush, 2.3 ypc won't do you any good as a RB.
Look at the move he put on the runningback! Mario Williams for Houston will be what Reggie White was for Philly. All Houston has to do is make sure they put offense around their defense unlike Philly. Vince Young will be Mike Vick for about 4 more years and Reggie Bush could actually be Westbrook in a couple years.
Why do people constantly think Houston could've traded down and gotten Mario Willimas?......he's the player the Saints were going to draft when everybody thought Houston was going to take Reggie....at worst Mario Williams would've went #2 to the Saints.
They really wanted Reggie, we could've gotten another draft pick at least if we would've at least explored the idea of switching picks or trading but instead we just hurried and signed him.
No sir, the Saints already had 2 Pro Bowl DEs (Charles Grant and Will Smith), they didn't need another one. Word is they would've drafted AJ Hawk if Reggie wouldn't have slipped to them. IMO the Jets, the Pack or the 9ers would've picked him up at #4, #5 and #6, respectively.
Mario would probably been picked up pretty fast.Fuck reggie bush but how do you pass up a franchise face and skill like vince young/Mario is still a damn good pick.Least we have the gov. cupIm glad we have mario though.GO TEXANS (9-5) '08
I think he'll be a great player. I still feel we could've traded down a pick or two and still got the man. He's great though. This is what we get when he's not injured like last year.
all red and all blue are my favorites, i know all blue is when we host the colts, but i wonder when is the next time we get to see all red? hope this game helped us get more prime time spots
i'm sure it is. It's during that time of the year and we're against the Jags. Red Jerseys on prime time is a good luck charm and they had better key into it.

It's scary to think that he has a lot of room left for improvement. It ridiculous that a guy this big and strong is also this fast.
Cinemaparadiso1989 3 years ago 3
haha and i grew up with him back home :P
chancek0001 3 years ago
at this point, we were 7-7 . At this point in the season, whenever a commentator would say, we're in the hunt, it gave me chills

Why did everyone rip the texans for taking this
guy?
DaCubFan1908 4 years ago 3
Because Reggie Bush was supposed to be the back that only comes around every thousand years or so the analysts might make you think, and Vince Young led Texas to a national championship in one of the best football games in college football history where Matt Leinart was on the losing side of. Mario Williams didn't have any of that happen. If he was playing in a bowl game or national championship making game changing sacks left and right people might talk about him on those other guys level.
dethro96 4 years ago
well we got
Matt schaub
Peyton manning
Vince young
David Garrard
who is the best QB in the AFC south ... this is a given Manning but i do think matt is better then Vince IMO

the speed and power of mario is scary
Norg1 4 years ago 4
hahahaha, all you guys who were talking crap last year about how the Texans messed up haha. USC sux!
dude10 4 years ago 2
Mario Williams was judged as a bust too early, people need to wait till at least a player's third season to tell whether they are a bust or not.
theschaub8 4 years ago 2
woo! he came from richlands nc. home. nice guy too.
chancek0001 4 years ago
im not a texans fan at all but i want all the "experts" who ripped williams for being drafted over reggie bush to come out of hiding, be real men and admit they were dead wrong.dead wrong. williams is a beast.
GO BROWNS!

i was there, my god what a game. i lost my voice.

Mario Williams needs to learn a new sack dance, because he's gonna get plenty!
wrestle4life234 4 years ago 6
Who fucking cares about Reggie Bush? That dumbass can't run. Might as well become a WR because if you can't run between the tackles Bush, 2.3 ypc won't do you any good as a RB.

SuperMario is proven the doubters wrong....
.. and he is doin it well! I'm talkin about Gilbert Arenas-like.

Mario Williams is starting to get it and he'll be a great player for the next 5-10yrs. for the Texnas......and the Titans still suck.

Kubiak knows wtf he's doing, best draft year for the texans
The Beasts demeco/mario wooo
08 season is going to be insane,if we had just split wins with our division we'd make playoffs easy last year
TheRealX9 4 years ago
its about time mario got his props
redwind88 4 years ago 3
Go TEXANS. Fuck reggie bush he sucks any ways. And we have two good quater backs so we dont need vince young. WE will make the playoffs next year.
wybo101 4 years ago 4
Look at the move he put on the runningback! Mario Williams for Houston will be what Reggie White was for Philly. All Houston has to do is make sure they put offense around their defense unlike Philly. Vince Young will be Mike Vick for about 4 more years and Reggie Bush could actually be Westbrook in a couple years.
knownc 4 years ago
Why do people constantly think Houston could've traded down and gotten Mario Willimas?......he's the player the Saints were going to draft when everybody thought Houston was going to take Reggie....at worst Mario Williams would've went #2 to the Saints.
cwright8426 4 years ago
They really wanted Reggie, we could've gotten another draft pick at least if we would've at least explored the idea of switching picks or trading but instead we just hurried and signed him.
dethro96 4 years ago
No sir, the Saints already had 2 Pro Bowl DEs (Charles Grant and Will Smith), they didn't need another one. Word is they would've drafted AJ Hawk if Reggie wouldn't have slipped to them. IMO the Jets, the Pack or the 9ers would've picked him up at #4, #5 and #6, respectively.
andrew7taylor 4 years ago
Mario would probably been picked up pretty fast.Fuck reggie bush but how do you pass up a franchise face and skill like vince young/Mario is still a damn good pick.Least we have the gov. cupIm glad we have mario though.GO TEXANS (9-5) '08
dogrockit 4 years ago
I think he'll be a great player. I still feel we could've traded down a pick or two and still got the man. He's great though. This is what we get when he's not injured like last year.
dethro96 4 years ago
Mario is going to be an all-time great! The Texans made the right decision to pick him first. Who agrees?

i can't wait for '08.

airbo0309 4 years ago
we are nearly invincible with battle red jerseys
TheRealX9 4 years ago
agreed. Wonder what our record is with them on. Seems like we win everytime
dethro96 4 years ago
6-2 if i remember correctly, if it wasn't for the devastating 05 season we'd be undefeated
TheRealX9 4 years ago
we should think about making them our new uniforms lol. Thats a good record anyway though
dethro96 4 years ago
all red and all blue are my favorites, i know all blue is when we host the colts, but i wonder when is the next time we get to see all red? hope this game helped us get more prime time spots
TheRealX9 4 years ago
Yeah. I'm crossing my fingers for a Monday Night game.
dethro96 4 years ago
Monday night game at home against Jacksonville confirmed! Here's hoping we go battle red!
EmJaySena 3 years ago
i'm sure it is. It's during that time of the year and we're against the Jags. Red Jerseys on prime time is a good luck charm and they had better key into it.
dethro96 3 years ago
go texans!! best game of season despite injuries.
