Wow, thanks for posting that. I lived in Cincy from 80 til 89. I went to winterfest with parents every year. In 88 I would have been 13 or so. This movie reminds me of my family movies. Very nostalgic. Thanks again
Thanks for the vid i remember that ride n miss most of all i miss winterfest. The star on the tower was my dads idea whom retired from there shortly afyer they stoped pitting it up thanks so much for pitting that in the vid.
@bink1fly Oh yes they did from 75 -99 in some sort or another. They also did the smurfs before scooby took over in 99 they took out the boats and water and revamped the whole ride.
Wow I cried watching this video. I loved this ride when I was little. I was so sad to find that this ride and the pirate ride at Cedar Point no longer exists
@Thespian80 me too. the enchanted voyage was my favorite ride at king's island. hated it when they replaced it with the smurfs, but then it grew on me.
Sadly I was the contractor that torn down the ride. I did most of the of the work inside the park in the off season. When they hired me to tear it down, I almost said no. We cut the flume up with gas saws and loaded them into dump trucks. Some company came in and bought all the smurf characters, but they gave me a great poppa smurf that I have in the family room to this day. also have the main sign where you board the ride, showing smurfs smashing fingers if they put hands outside the ride. sad
This is AMAZING. I never ever knew this ride existed until today. I'm a HUGE Smurfs fan and have been since the early 80s when the cartoon first premiered. Thank you for showing us this. :)
Never thought I'd see and hear this again! Thanks for having the foresight to take your industrial-size 1988 video camera on one of the most memorable rides ever!
We miss that ride. I think they were wrong to take it out. I am expecting a revision since the new Smurf movie is coming out. Assuming it does well, that is. Thanks for the memoires - I was hoping someone had this ride on youtube!
thanks for the cool peek into smurf village. my big sister always bragged about the ride, & when i finally got to take my first trip to kings island it had been replaced by phantom theater, which i loved, & which also is now gone. why couldn't they just keep them both forever?
My mother made me ride this 4 times in a row..... when I was like 5. She got to hot and she just wanted in there to get away from the heat... true story. LMFAO! The music haunts my mind to this day.
I LOVED THAT RIDE! This is the first time I've seen any video of my beloved Smurfs ride in 20 years. Thank you, thank you, thank you! -- PS --I was at Winterfest in Dec 1988, almost caught my death from the nasty weather.
@cegerste 1992 was the year the Phantom Theatre came out. So, I am assuming the last year was 1991. Sad. I wish they would bring it back. Such a great ride with great memories attached to it.
wow. i suddenly felt urge to look this ride up.. and really didnt think it would be on line...but sure enough here it is ! thank you..like u said trip down memory lane

If you knew what to look for, there were lots of elements from the original Enchanted Voyage ride through out this attraction.

I have a friend who said this was their introduction to Smurfs and that it scarred them for life. I can certainly see why.
