  • My Sony sing-along kiddie cassette recorder "My First Sony" does have DC bias. It sounds bad than other cheap cassette recorders except the kiddie ones.

  • the DC bias has a nostalgic sound to it - why do i like that crunchy sound, and distorted base sound! lol :)

  • Some DC bias oldies, DC bias hits, music to fill all DC bias ears! Sittin' by the fireside playin' his DC bias again... DC bias can be funny, can't it!

  • Stereo DC bias is great for recording politicians who give distorted viewpoints and talk out of both sides of their mouth!

  • "Just like a spaceship!"

Had to do it, didn't you. : )

  • What's the name of the song at 5:59?

  • The song is called "Sky High", by the group Jigsaw. It is from 1975.

  • Stereo DC bias! A funny and amazing think. Some nice music there, too. I have a few machines that have stereo DC bias.

  • Not exactly HiFi, but not bad. Cheap tape recorders of the '70s sounded much worse; the AC biased "HiFi stereo" decks of that era often didn't sound any better than this.

  • I love those old stereo mixes with hard-panned drums/vocals and a lot of mic spill. There's no stereo separation on anything recorded in the last 30 years, it seems like everybody is told to mix everything in the center. Way to go.

  • My favorites are the songs which have the bass hard panned to the left or right channel. It instantly proves wrong all the people who say you only need one subwoofer because all bass content is mono.

  • Ahhh... The sound of stereo DC bias! I have heard a ton of that in my life. You'd be surprised how many demos I got from people wanting a job that were recorded like that. This particular machine doesn't sound all that bad, though. The separation is pretty good. :) JC

  • I wish I knew how to make an FM transmitter, I should look it up one day. I one had a 2 cassette boombox with no line in, so to record from other sources on it i connected a small electromagnet up to my amplifier and put it close up to the play head in one deck and used the tape-to-tape feature to record, it worked quite well.

  • Sort of complicated to make (especially the stereo generator) but you can get an FM stereo modulator intended for transmitting an iPod or something to a car stereo for very cheap. If you find the datasheet for the chip (there are a few different kinds) you can attach a real half-wave dipole antenna. Mine gets out about 500 feet from my house.

  • Yes,l think l'll stick with my old Philips N2400! Sure is a bit nasal!

  • I've heard worse. I used to have a dual-cassette boombox with DC bias high-speed dubbing. A tape produced by it sounded about as good as a tin can on a string!

  • I wonder how it would sound if one of the big high-speed high-quality reel-to-reel full-sized machines would sound if IT was stereo DC bias at 7 1/2 or 15 IPS!

  • might want to watch the copyright nazi's about this video

  • He only played clips of songs that were less than a minute long, so there's no copyright issue with this video.

  • I carefully edited each song clip to be just below 30 seconds. That's the most you can play of a song before YouTube can detect the copyright holder.

  • I really liked the tunes that you selected for the music clips. And Horst Jankowski's "Walk in the Black Forest" was most appropriate when the VW crossed the screen (:->

  • Guest Appearances:

    * broken Panasonic cassette recorder

    * broken Radio Shack DC voltage meter

    * VW New Beetle model car

    * Intel Pentium III 866 MHz chip

  • i appreciated the special appearances
