  • Linux voids your hardware warranty

  • Linux is 3 times as old as you, so I wouldn't call it new.

  • YOUBOONTOE

  • MAXIMUMTROLLING

  • Specs

    OS: uboontow

    Dimensions: 3.5 x 5 lego guys

    Videoports: Monitor Jack

Battery Life: twice as long as a regular laptop

RAM: 4 gig of 32 gigahartz (pretty a lot)

    Recommended use: school stuff

  • I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

  • If you're gonna use Linux, install gentoo. It isn't as resource intensive and you can do alot more with it.

  • @patrink12 install arch u nerd

  • How long is it in dildos?

  • i have the same Netbook at black .

  • I like Linux Ubuntu 10.04 it just came out... Linux don't get viruses so that's good...

  • Linux isn't new. That particular version of Ubuntu (i'm guessing 8.04 from the date) was probably newer, but Ubuntu has been around for almost 6-7 years.

  • Better than OS X and Windows? Dude you need to get some new friends and stop hanging around people who tell you that kind of crap.

  • @dragonballjiujitsu

Depends on what you judge it on. If you judge on security, update frequency, price, stability, how much you can do with it, Linux wins. If you judge on how good it is for a gaming rig, Windows wins. If you judge by the pompousness of the users, OS X wins.

  • I agree with the first two, the last comment just proves you are ignorant.

  • Dude, you swore at what seemed to be a 13 year old kid for stating his OS preference. How is that not pompous?

  • I did? When? Seems his friends have lied to him.

  • "Otherwise known as Ubunto" I don't know where you've heard that, but Ubuntu is pronounced "Ooh Boon Too" but some say "Uh boon too". Weird.. Maybe one of your friends are also saying it wrong.

  • First linux kernel: 1991. First Ubuntu release: late 2004.

Just an aside, telling people how old Linux or Ubuntu "really" is probably isn't going to impress n00bs in the consumer OS space. The first reaction, understandably, will likely be to wonder why they haven't heard of it before, and then wonder if it's because it's not very important, or not very good.

  • Actually, Linux has been around for quite a while (try almost 20 years). It's just that Dell only just started offering it on a few home computers. ^_^

I run Ubuntu on my Laptop, and I'd agree that it is certainly better for many things than Windows or Mac (although, it can take some tweaking to get games made for Windows to work).

  • I like how you measured it in Lego Guys!

  • @cubesinajar the new international standard :)

  • This kid is pretty smart, he got the Mini 9 with Ubuntu. I started running Ubuntu in 2005 so it's been around awhile. Only improvement is KDE, Kubuntu or OpenSUSE.

  • I hope it makes you feel all warm and tingly inside to tell a relatively smart kid he's an idiot. Hopefully he'll use you as an example of how NOT to behave when he grows up and shares information with those who are younger and less knowledgeable than he is.

  • I like how you compare the size with the lego.

3 and a half lego guys x 5 lego guys.

  • Yeah, forget the metric system. From now on I measure with lego men. ;) This was very cute.

  • how do you type like papers and stuff for school? does it have microsfot word or can you install it?

  • Its got adobe writer power point and other crap like that its exsactly like windows word

  • Ubuntu is loaded with OpenOffice which is compatible with Microsoft Office files.

  • @rawrxlcx21 Linux contains word processors too, ya know :P

  • you have to buy more memory and i store stuff on there cards not the computer

  • @Ashleyloveschristian

Eh. I have one, and oh yeah, it's a real problem. As a result I had to buy my girlfriend one, as well as my mom :p

The other regret I have is that, despite the smaller keyboard, they still found space for a Caps Lock key on yours >_>

  • wow. i was waiting for something dumb in this video. i was disappointed towards the end when you said THAT THIS IS "TONS" better than windows and mac o/s. when will you learn? its ok ur a newbie.

  • You should put Mac OS X on it! I did!

  • probably new to him

  • Ubuntu isn't that new. It's older than Vista, but not as old as XP.

As for Linux, Linux isn't a Operating System, it's a kernel. You're thinking of "GNU/Linux" and GNU isn't that new either. The GNU project started in 1983, but they didn't get the Linux kernel until 1991.

GNU is not Unix, but it's based on Unix.

I think you mean it has a 32GB Solid State Drive. (SSD) You can't put 32GB of RAM on a Laptop yet. (you'll need a workstation like a Mac Pro or a personal super computer)

  • ya im kind of new to the laptop world thanks for the info! i reaaly apreciate it everyone who has commented

  • Mac is built of of Linux.

  • it is wow thanks for the info im new to the laptop world

  • No, Mac OSX is based on BSD.

  • Linux isn't it has been around since 1991.

    but yeah, good video.

  • I meant to say linux isnt new, but i forgot the new.

  • thanks but didnt linux ubuntu comeout last year?

  • No, In 2004
