  • It's either a Salmon Shark or a small Black Tip Reef Shark... NOT a Great White. smh

  • Sorry to burst your bubble guys that is not a baby great white at all...

its a porbeagle or otherwise known as a Salmon shark, same familt to the great white though.

  • That was not a great white. It was a salmon shark.

  • what are you doing

  • People should stop whining. The man did what he could and saved the shark. How could he know what he had to do? Did he have to go search on the internet to find out how he has to rescue a washed up shark? Just drag it back to the ocean and it will live. They are strong animals, they survived millions of years, so a guy pulling it the wrong way to the ocean wont kill it. If he didnt do anything it would have died. So shut up all and be happy for the shark.

And to the guy of this vid, well done!

  • poor shark.......

  • for the rest of his life people are going to be like, " yep , that's him, the dude caught a great white with his bare hands".

  • Poor baby!

"Dude, hold it up like you caught it!" Stop manhandling the poor thing. I really hope it survived after you let it go.

  • that ass killed the fish....

  • wdf?? these guys were playing with the poor thing....such assholes!!! would u like it;s mother to drag u like that??...

  • You guys in the video actually probably killed that baby shark. NEVER pull a shark backwards. You will drown the shark by pulling backwards. You exhuasted the shark by pulling it backwards. I truly hope you guys are never that unkind, and reckless again.

  • I'm glad you saved it :)

  • That's a salmon shark

  • Salmon shark they always wash up on shore and they look just like great whites

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr narly my fav part

  • Ignore the nasty remarks Patrick, you were doing your best, hope it got back out to see in the end

  • You guys are retards, your supposed to drag em' back and forth, so they can breath! When you push and pull them in the water it give them help, cause they need the water in the gills, if you just send them out, they would drown

  • @Dobmann222 I think you're mistaken. Dragging a shark backwards causes water to into the gills and not out, like its supposed to, thus leading to them being drowned. In through the mouth, out through the gills.

  • Well at least you did send it back. That must have been terrifying for the shark though.

  • lol at watching this guy drown it. Just kept drowining it, till it got to point they could all touch it. lolololol

  • i would have kept it.

  • fly it up wit sweet sour sause

  • lol belly up lol

    FAIL!!!

  • I think they had the right intentions....but dang they were drowning the poor little shark:/...hopefully he/she lived.... Im still afraid of them but I wouldn't want it to die.

  • what the hell! let him go!!! y u playing with him. he wants to leave, i hope a 19 footer comes and drags you up and down the sea!

  • walk to about your knees in the water and through him out or push it out dung heads

  • Salmon Shark. They wash up up californian shores often

  • Its a shame you guys are so fucken clueless......all you needed to do is take it to deeper water and let it go....simple enough. Seriously retarded.

  • Dumb Fuckers. Just pick him up and go out till the water is up to your waist and then let him go !! These morons are no brighter than the baby shark !

  • Did it end up dying??

  • fish can drown?

  • I'll bet, its mum set the young there as bait for humans, and attack just like orca's on the shoreline.

  • i woulda kept itï

  • Man I would have done the same, sence white shrarks are my favorite

  • wow

  • You dummasses, you better just do surfing and nothing else. You are literally playing with the animal, why don't you just push it forward to open sea???

  • you should have grabed him behind his pectoral fins and took him out to water at least 4ft. deep

  • DONT DRAG IT BACKWARDS!!!!!! YOUR DROWNING IT!! THE WATER GOES THROUGH THE MOUTH INTO THE GILLS!

  • the caption should be, "retarded surfer injures baby shark"

  • At 2.55 looks like you're Vacuming man..??

  • @MrBandogs

hahaaaa, nah he's just killin it

  • Ferk Him...Fish for Dinner

  • It doesn't matter which way the water passes through the gills, as long as the fish can feel the way the water is moving across its skin. Great whites are not pelagic, so they are rarely responsible for incidents with people. Bull sharks are double dangerous, as they will eat anything anywhere, and can live in brackish to fresh water. They do snack on humans. The shark pup here would have died of exhaustion anyway, and it probably did in the end.

  • @1jammot In fact, it does make a significant difference.....which direction the water flows THROUGH the gill slits. Nature has perfected fluid dynamics, that manifests itself within these gilled cuties.... The oxygen molecule cannot be extracted as efficiently, if the water is flowing the wrong way. Many trophy fisherman use the technique of pulling large fish backwards, to "drown" (sufficate) them. Just sayin

  • Give them a break, not everyone is a shark expert. They were only trying to save it after all, most people wouldn't even touch it.

  • baby jaws

  • You should have been there, I'm certain you would have done it right... I give you a lot of credit though, judging by your language, I can't imagine you your sensibilities are in order.

  • Wow you guys are fucking retarded... why would you pull the shark backwords like 10 times? idiots

  • Your a cunt!!!! Dont drag it backwards...

  • in 10 years that same shark will kill a surfer and eat them.........thank you

  • -.-some people are sooo stupid

  • @lovehurts2909 how do you mean?

  • @patrickofduggan people saying the baby shark needs to go find its mommy....

  • poor baby great white is wound on the beach must lost by their mother. Its good for the surfer help this baby great white swim back to sea find their mother.

  • dude thats wicked, I think theyre protected though so you can't touch them

  • it's a baby megalodon

  • Very Nice!Congratulations.

  • Ironic that a surfer is helping a predator that could potential eat him in the future :P BUT it was a very nice thing to help out an endangered animal in need.

  • you are retarded. If you drag a shark backwards, it drowns.

  • @ryanf404 Mentally challenged would have been a kinder thing to say Ryan, Wish you had been there to help guide us with your expertise.

  • @patrickofduggan to-freakin-shay

  • @ryanf404 That makes you the retard because moving a fish back & forth is the prominent way used by fisherman worldwide to resuscitate fish.

That's quite the find. You got some balls there, bud. :)

  • @ryanf404 SEACREATURES CAN DROWN thanks for the the info lol i never knew that

  • @ryanf404 Yeah Dude.. woulda been better to just leave him out of the water all together eh? pfft.

  • @ryanf404 They don't drown when they are dragged backwards, they can breathe as long as there is oxygen going through their gills (why they have to keep *moving* (hence: not necessarily forward). Sharks can't swim backwards because of the lack of flexibility in their pectoral fins. They probably would have been better off just throwing it though instead of dragging the salmon shark all over the place, but they tried. Plus, if it was washing up on shore it's more than likely dying anyway.

  • @ryanf404 true... the shark catcher here drags them backwards behind his boat to drown them.... but atleast they are trying to help the shark instead of letting it die.. dont be such a dick

  • Good intentions without knowledge is DEADLY!!! Good initiative BAD judgement on dragging the shark backwards. Either pick him up and PLACE in water or call Animal Control.

  • I just love how everyone is an expert at keeping sharks alive. Awesome. Great effort to those in the video at least they did something.

  • Definitely a Salmon Shark. Makes you wonder if it was really sick, or if it was just incredibly inexperienced and got a bit too close to the intertidal zone :)

  • Shark looks good..... its even fun sized!!!

  • can't you actually kill a fish by dragging it backwards? cause you're forcing too much water in its gills

  • @tooglepoo Sharks have to constantly swim with there mouths open to respire ( I have no idea why he was pulling the shark backwards, but he meant well)... Pulling them backward slows down there respiration rate... A very slow death for them.... Fishermen who used to hunt large sharks would pull them behind there boat. Thats if the shark was to large to pull on board

  • @ELEKFREAK man people suck!

  • thats a beautyfull one

  • dud you were drowning the shark...you should of never pull the shark backwards like that...the motion should always be forward so that the water can go through it mouth an into the gills

  • @djaiseman The gills are not in the mouth moron!! they aare on thee sidees, but yes it should have been forward...

  • @djaiseman i know what a non-rescue

  • @djaiseman Should he have pushed it forward and risk getting bit? Absolutely not. Fuck the shark.

  • @ThatwasTERRIBLE shut up!!!!

  • when that shark gets older, its gonna fuck you up lol! nice job by the way.

  • Hey guys! Awesome job! So glad you guys didn't wait to act!

For all the rude tards out there.. While these guys might not be superheroes.. it only takes one kind act somewhere in the world to everyday to make a difference... They SAVED a LIFE! Probably more than YOU have done! Before you judge the hows or why's, be thankful there is another creature alive on this planet for our children to enjoy. We only have one planet. Think about it!

  • well done! maybe he will remember you

  • This video restores a bit of my depleted faith in humanity. Well done guys!

  • I would have cut the shark fin and sell it, thats 200 box right there. Yeahhh lolol J/K

  • WOW MAN, IM JEALOUS !! Seriously man, you did the right thing.

  • why didn´t you carry the shark into the water? it would go faster.

  • american retards how can you not know that you cant pull them backwards and forwards. Its a fish it breathes by swimming forwards you idiots....

  • @julianbalcombe and what would you have done? probably stood there staring at it, jaw agape going "aduuur" fucking foriegners.

  • @julianbalcombe Put anotha shrimp on the babee?

  • its good and all you helped it but its still a baby its not good to pull it back and forth but nice job saving a grate white thats cool :D

  • It's good to see someone actually trying to do something positive for a change, well done.

  • Dont drag him backward you jackass. And FYI: You're fucking with an endangered species.

  • @JackBuck44 Something tell's me it'd be worse of if they just left it on the beach you ignorant idiot.

  • Aaaaww poor thing...How can this kill a human? I mean c'mon! sharks are not evil beings they are just predators and that is what they do they go hunting like lions or tigers the only difference is that they live on the ocean that is all.

  • Cool, props that you saved it an didn't leave it to suffer or try an kill it... believe it or not more people respect you for this i know i would have done the same-thing.

    The Great White Shark rules

  • @patrickofduggan that's sound mate it's really good that they were trying to help it!!! Next time they will know what to do, just keep pushing it forward with every wave till he swims away.

  • Fucking hell man your actually killing it by dragging it backwards like that, poor thing probably died after that ordeal, bit disturbing to watch actually, was showing my kids baby sharks, didn't think l find a shark snuff film for them!!!

  • Good on ya for rescuing that baby

  • Comment removed

  • Good job dude! but next time you try to revive any kind of fish only push it forward in the water. When you move him backward it takes out the oxygen from his Gills

  • Thats not Great White..That's a Mini White

  • This is so awesome you guys saved it, not to mention you did it with your bare hands. Most people would juat walk away

  • These guys are IDIOTS! they did more harm then they realize, by reversing the flow of water through its gills....instead they are drowning it. so are we really on top of the food chain as u compare this video and the stupidity of there thoughtful actions. If we are to share the ocean then at least obtain knowledge of it, and not portray ourselves as dumb as we look.

  • yay good work guys rescuing it :) we need more people like u these are beautiful creatures there not hurting it u tards there rescueing it

  • Can it be dangerous even being baby?

  • Nice work,,.............

  • gotta hand it to ya nice work , not a lot of people would be so eager to resacue such a misunderstood animal

  • shark goes back to mom ad say, "mom you wont believe what these awsome

two legged creatures did for me"

  • Awww, it's so cute!!! Great White or Salmon, that was an adorable little shark.

  • well done guys for doing that to the shark, not alot of people would have, i hope it survived

  • Well done guys, I hope it lived!

  • How can you differentiate between a great white and another species? I've always wondered.

  • Well dunn, good job!

  • Thankyou so much for saving that shark. Seriously, I cant tell you how many videos Ive come across with a washed up shark on the beach, and the best thing that the people could do was to kick it and marvel, "Holy crap! There's a shark thats washed up!" instead of helping out the poor thing. Not a lot of people wouldve done the same thing you would do. So I'll give you a thumbs up as a thankyou for saving it.

  • Because of you guys, that shark made it on Planet Earth! Thats amazing, you guys did the right thing.

  • Wow.. Amazing.. U saved a life of the most beautiful animal in the sea (in my oppinion). I've always wanted to cage dive with the great white but.. saving one.. I could never dream of doing that:/ I'm jealous. I wish you best of luck when during your surfing!

  • years later, when the shark grows up, he will come back and eat that surfer LOL!

  • THAT IS A SALMON SHARK DON'T BELIEVE ME LOOK IT UP. YOU'RE ALLREADY ON U-TUBE.

  • that shark will never attack a human being because of what you did. Good job :)

  • salmon shark dude

  • You did a good thing. Others would have just watched in fear or just simply would have cared less.

  • good job dudes

  • good job guys :)

  • Absolutely awesome mate! Well done , and to all you do gooders out there that think this guy made a bad call...get a life ....!

  • That's so cute!!!! :)

  • hard to tell but i'm going to say that the shark in the video looks more like a salmon shark than a great white. where were you (geographically when this took place)? and one other thing: i think that you thought you were doing the right thing and so i'm not trying to make you feel bad - but pulling a shark backwards in the water is in fact very dangerous to the shark. a shark needs to swim forward at all times in order to breath. pulling it backwards can drown the shark. just a little info.

  • @Brokensilence113 breathe*

  • @Brokensilence113 very true...Sharks in particular need to swim forwards at all times. They never sleep..always swimming forwards. I think the backwards resuscitation was a mistake, but nice try. I hope it survived but I have my doubts after seeing the backwards motion that it was subjected to. Nice try though.

  • Great that you did try to save the shark! That is awesome!

How did the story end? I always was taught that when you are dragging a shark backwards - you drown them and you have to drag them forward to get water into the lungs. Did the poor thing survive? Hope so!

  • Yes, that is a salmon shark, the smaller cousin of great white. And that man, who tried to send it back to sea, is a credit to our species!

  • wow this is awesome! its nice to see that you cared about the shark most people would just leave it on the beach or kill it or something! just hope he remembers what you did for him when your in the surf!

  • this is clearly a salmon shark not a great white, its top half is dark blue and a great whites is grey/light grey...

  • I would of just trown it like in HANCOCK

  • I wish you had picked it up under its belly and got a good close up shot of the face.

  • looks fake

  • That was so nice and a cool thing to do. This reminds me of the time I found a beached baby black tip and I carried him back to the water.

  • ONE MORE TIME FOR ALL YOU MARINE BIOLOGIST RESPONDING TO THIS VIDEO. DO A LITTLE RESEARCH. THAT FISH IS A SALMON SHARK. IT SORT OF LOOKS LIKE A GREAT WHITE. BUT IT ISN'T. IF IT WAS THIS VIDEO WOULD BE ABOUT THE SHARK THAT BIT THE HAND THAT TRIED TO FREE IT. SALMON SHARKS ARE FAIRLY PASSIVE.

  • THAT'S A SALMON SHARK. THEY LOOK LIKE A GREAT WHITE EXCEPT THEY ARE BLACK ON TOP. A GREAT WHITE IS MORE OF A GREY ON TOP. DON'T BELIEVE ME. EARCH SALMON SHARK ON THE WEB.

  • thx for this videopost, this is good descibtion how i could help, in equalsituation, i mean very good done, helping the shark to get water for breathing,by pushing forward backwards through the water, think no doctor on earth could have done better then you,

Surfer you are my hero for today, learned something more^^

  • you should have killed the shark... fuck sharks and shark lovers

  • @ZEF17 ,

i dont understand ur coment, amis have just killed the gulf of mexico, when ever we go diving into the pacific, lesser sharkes we can see, in pazific swims a waste-area such big as europe...killing animals and sharks..

sry u sound so stupid for me...

  • @Berndaustria huh i didn't understand your english? but whatever haha we have already driven many species to extinction one more eh

  • Wow... all those negative comments.. he was trying his best to save it

  • It's really cool what you did, by putting the critter back in the ocean: good job man.

Just two little things for future reference (case you get to save any more baby sharks :P) -

Make sure you grab it closer to the neck (behind the gills,) though not tight enough to choke it. I know it sounds crazy, but in the water, sharks are flexible enough to be able to reach back and bite you. Also, you decrease the risk of stretching it's vertebra when you're pulling it to the ocean, against current.

  • nice job guys good with the technique of getting water in his lungs i think actually taking him out into chest high water and letting him submurge would of been even more effective though although there would of been a high risk of you getting bitten but he was only little wouldnt of hurt to much haha

  • How long does it take someone to realize to pick the thing up and bring it past where the waves are breaking? Clearly dragging it by its tail is not doing anything but tiring it out and making it weak.

  • Boy in that situation I would help it too but I think what I would do is paddle out with it too the open sea line with the shark still under my hand as I guide it to deeper waters to keep it from drowning. You guys probably did what was best and no one on this board including me is a marine biologist so who are they to judge on how to handle the situation. You guys though did what you could.

  • yo, it's all life people. sharks live and die, at least a human tried to save one and filmed it. if the shark lived or died is chaff because tons of em are being finned and tossed back in the drink everyday.

    at least he tried, haters.

  • I think that what you did was the best thing possible and am verry suprised because not alot of people would think to do that also I am verry jelouse because I've always wanted to see a baby great white and you got to touch AND SAVE one god.

  • @S1thL0rdJ05h Wow! Thank you so much for your support... Yes, it is strange how weird, angry and unprofessional so many people think we were... They weren't there in the moment, with no knowledge of what to do, doing they best they could. Hey, we're not exerts, but we gave it our best! Thanks. P.S. it may in fact be a salmon shark, evidence is unclear, but either way, my friends worked to save that animal and that's what counts. feel free to write anytime.

  • @S1thL0rdJ05h thank you for your support. It is refreshing to read a comment with understanding. so much negative feed-back about saving of a beautiful creature has been slightly disheartening. You're comment is respected and appreciated.!

  • Yeah, dragging it backwards doesn't help. Reason why sharks don't swim backwards. It was most probably closing it's gills tight when you were pulling it backwards which in turn was suffocating it. However, you did help it back into deeper water which also saved it. Props for doing something, just push it forwards next time (not that they'll probably ever be a next time, once in a lifetime experience an all that)

Lets hope little jaws doesn't grow up and eat any surfers :)

  • yaaa saved the shark!!!!

  • IDIOT

  • actually dragging any marine fish or shark backwards like you were doing drowns it, the water is supposed to go in its mouth and out the gills, the best thing you could have done was keep pushing it until you were in like 2 feet of water and try there, or tip the shark from side to side

  • @07PaulyShore07 spot on..he needed to push the shark forwards and get wet up to his waist in water to save it

  • props for saving it! I saw an 8 foot long bull shark swimming through the water when I was on the cherry grove pier yesterday. was scary big but just part of nature of guess.

  • @Paintball0599 YEAH, NATURE BITES DON'T IT?

  • Okay fuck all you haters! they just saved a shark! Surfers saving a shark is fucking kick ass! For those of you thinking he's abusing it grow up! Shit, at least he is actually doing something to help. It started swimming on it's own so maybe he did do it right. Props to you mate! Good job and to all you fags who be hating.

    FUCK OFF

  • Okay fuck all you haters! they just saved a shark! Surfers saving a shark is fucking

kick ass! For those of you thinking he's abusing it grow up! Shit, at least he is actually doing something to help. It started swimming on it's own so maybe he did do it right. Props to you mate! Good job and to all you fags who be hating.

    FUCK OFF

  • ummm when you pull it backwards in the water you're drowning it.

  • @orangesodapop90 no it's the equivalent to wearing an oxygen mask.

  • Comment removed

  • You surfers are a bunch of dumbasses..dragging a great white backwards essentially suffocates it. You guys should grow a pair of balls, walk it into waste deep water, and release it. Fuckin cowards...also no one wants to hear that stupid surfer lingo you got going on.
