If anyones felt that kind of bitter rejection it makes the scene all the more sadder and emotive. Anyhow, its a shame Moffat has wiped the Doc clean of his loneliness and sadness about the loss of his people and The Last Great Time War. New body, new characteristics but you can't erase that sort of thing. Also, it added to the character, now he seems like a bit of an 'aren't I clever' wanker. Shame. Hope they change that next series.
Fk it!! I've been all over this stuff since Delgado.....Yes...I did cry...but what really got me was how the Master was handcuffed during his death... Very undignified!!
The hand that picked up the Master's ring was either Rani's or his wife's. The Master and wife has been confirmed in being in the last David Tennant Dr who episode.

The Doctor and The Master were actually brothers, they fell out before the Great Time War the reason for which has never been explained but their have been heavy clues that it was over a TimeLady called Rani, (who also survived see past series).
We know the master is returning. "He will knock for times" That gives it away. When i think how he will, i came up with two theories.
1) His ring stored his TimeLord consousness, it did have the Galifray symbol like the fob watch on, and we DID hear his laugh when a hand touched it.
2)He pulled a slip away and snuck his TARDIS to earth somehow. Maybe used the doctors TARDIS to travel to the year 100 trillion and take both back to the 20th century for a crafty escape plan.
Actually, it's important to him for a number of reasons. First, they were childhood friends. They went to the Academy together. Secondly, the Master is the only one of the Doctor's entire race that's left. When he says they have no one else, he really means it. And thirdly...well, you're right on that part. He hates to see anyone die if it can be prevented, but that's not why he was *this* broken up over it. He finally had a chance of not being the only one left, and now it's lost again.
@dbvixxen wrong. The Doctor's daughter is still alive. The doctor just doesn't know about it. The last time he saw her, she was dead, but after he left, she came back to life.
im glad you posted this one first, as it brings out alot of emotion and realy realy great acting by John Simm. (any chance you could post he regeneration from Derik Jacobi?)
This makes me remember the friendship that Jon Pertwee and Roger Delgado shared and the agony of Roger's premature death.

The Master got the same funeral send off that Darth Vader did. How fitting,

Just after the president was killed but just before the Spheres arrived....
But didn't the President die by Sphere assassination? o_o
kiaoken 9 months ago
@kiaoken Yes, but it was before the paradox machine was activated; the president was killed by spheres brought before its activation.

@kiaoken There were 4 that came with the master beforehand. The doctor was talking about the 6,000,000,000 that came afterward

Is there a name to the track that starts playing when The Master died? Or does anyone have this as mp3? That would be great.

@KingLofiOne Actually, scratch that, found it: "This is Gallifrey, our childhood, our home."

@Traininghopper What happens now that the Doc has regenerated into Matt Smith, has this plan been ditched? I wonder...

No, the Doctor and the Master (Koschei) were schoolmates, not brothers. Childhood friends, same with the Rani (Ushas).

i don't understand, what's the link between the doctor and the master?
delperie 3 years ago
They're enemies, but the tenth doctor is kind of sappy at times like this, apparently enough to care that someone he hates is dying.

@dbvixxen And if he could have saved just ONE Timelord from the Last Great Time War it would have meant all the more to him.
