Kai is a recut (edited) version of DBZ, which happens before GT.

However, GT was made before Kai. The original DBZ was created and aired through the 1990s and has 290 episodes. Kai will be cut short, and also cuts out a lot of content. This version of GT also cuts out a few episodes.

Gohan- 1/2 Saiyan blood= SSJ

Pan- 1/4 Saiyan blood= Possible SSJ, but strangly didn't turn SSJ even under lots of stress and anger. A key ingredient for turning SSJ.

Pan's Children- 1/8 Saiyan blood= Can't go SSJ

Pan's Grandson/Goku Jr- 1/16 Saiyan blood= Shouldn't be able to go SSJ... but did.
