hi. i dont think its a good idea to have a looking-trough divider. the bettas will get stresses when they see eachother, and try to attack. and when bettas are stressed, they can get sick and loose their beautiful colors. nice tank though :)

I'm dividing a 5 gallon hex hawkeye tank soon since one of my boys is in only 1.5 gallons D=! I just rescued from my sister so I couldn't get a larger tank in such short notice.

These fish are GORGEOUS! The red one looks exactly like my fish Calvin, and even swims similarly, except yours has much brighter colors. How warm do you keep the tank? And do you have a heater for them?

the only thing i would add is perhaps more glass beads (whatever theyre called - i's forgot) on the bottom and some little terracota pots with glass whatsits glued (aquatic glue) over the holes if it has them! Mine used to like sleeping inside them! .. of course yours might not but they might like a hole to go in sometimes!

i keep my bettas in 2.5 gallons too, but they really do so much better in 5 gallon or larger tanks, which is what is recommended by drs. foster and smith.

2.5 is fine .. 5 gallon can be fine but some do better in the less spacve than more so it depends on the individual betta!

you need to be careful in your choice of gravel. it has to be smooth edged gravel. if the gravel is too sharp it can damage the bettas flowy fins and lead to fin rot. if you make sure to check the gravel and make sure its rounded and smooth then you can use it no problem.

I have a silly quesiton. I have a 20 gallon high and I want to house 2 male bettas w/ of course a divider, but i was wondering if the divider isn't high enough, is it possible that either betta can jump over to the other side?

they could do, but make sure the divider reaches the top of the hood of the tank, not left on water level or lower :)

Dividers are easy to make. I always had a hot knife in my supplies to cut plastic. Tank looks real nice!

Im so happy im getting my 2 bettas in 2 days one is going into a 4.5 gal and the other is going into a 5 gal(im letting the water cycle first)

I am not the person who made this video, just replying to your comment, i made a clear divider myself, have a look at my latest vid u will see it there, i made if from a clear perspex type thing i bought from a craft store, it was sold as a surface that you are suposed to do leadlight paint designs on. It was $24.95 for 2 sheets, and i can make 4 dividers from that for 5 gallon tanks. All i did was cut it to size using a stantley knife, and then drilled some holes for water flow.

i really like your setup! it pleases me to see they have adequate space to spin around. your tank looks really nice. you know would look really cool? if everything on the blue betta's side was red and visa versa. but that stuff would probably be hard to find eg. blue and red plants lol. all in all very beautiful, peacefull fish and great tank setup!

i have 2, both from walmart lol, One i had for a yr, and the other i had for about 6 months. The older one is in a 5 gallon by himself. He is greedy and wants the whole tank to himself. I am moving the other on in a 10 gallon with other fish once i get rid of my shark and gourami.

thanks, i had to remake the divider tho, cuz it wasn't circulating the water well enough and the blue boys fins got shredded because of a gap on the back side. but they cant see each other with the new divider (made out of this plastic yarn craft board thing) so they don't flare anymore.
