I used to work for a company that capped some of those wells outside Bakersfield. It isn't that there's no oil down there. It's how costly it is to get the oil out. If it's not economic to turn the spigot on then that oil will just sit there until the end of time. It's not about "belief." It's about facts. Raw data. I've spent many hundreds and hundreds of hours logging wells. I know what's down there, and it aint America's energy future. That's not a belief. It's a geological fact.

@DoNotCiv If peak oil is real, how do you figure in the vast Bakken oil field reserves opening up in the dakotas now? It doesn't fit does it. There is no oil shortage. Only production manipulation, as in many other things.

@thaboomer53 The Bakken fields are a distractionary chimera. That type of shale oil is known as "kerogen" which is really more of a proto oil that hasn't baked for a sufficient amount of time. The amount of energy you get out of it, after refining, is only slightly more than what you put in.

@DoNotCiv I have done the research. The oil companies are following their plans, that they have had for years, to a "t".  Use up the oil in Saudia Arabia, and the rest of the mid east. Then , when those reserves are used up, open up the reserves in the states, including the massive untapped reserves in the Alaskan fields. I guess it depends on whose research you believe. You have another set of "facts" you believe. That's ok. Believe what you want.

I'm sure all of these don't add up to a Saudia Arabia, but there are enough reports out there from the actual people who work in the industry, that I believe there is a significant ammount in the US that isn't being tapped. Again, you can believe whatever you like. I"ve heard from both sides.

Actually not quite, Crude was traditionally independent of the markets. This all changed in Feb. 2009 where this commodity is traded at a pace with the Dow. It's prudent however that a Goldilocks zone is maintained so the dji won't exceed 12,500 which is deemed sustainable. Here Williams, you are in error since it is not so much the dollar but crude as an implement of duress to control population, & maintain a stable climate.

Thanks for posting. I'm a big fan of Rev. Williams. I know some people hate his delivery, but I love this guy. I would attend his services! His timing on oil prices has been pretty spot on. Maybe it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to see prices of crude going up, but it gives one more "data point" to give you investment conviction. Up +20% in 7 months.
