I really love this, it is well done. However, I wish anime people would stop finding ways to incorporate anime into every single thing they do. It's also really disappointing that it's through these cartoons that young people have any interest in things like history. It's almost as bad as having no mind of your own to rely on these types of sources for your inspiration and ideas. Sigh. If only intellect and comics could be separated so smart ppl won't all have punk hair.
@BreezesofConey haha I did this in grade 11 for a school project. I didn't put the anime in there because I had to incorporate anime into everything I do, I just needed some filler to put on the screen. I picked scenes that I thought went with what I was saying. I don't really have "punk" hair unless I decide to do it that way. I have never coloured it and it is just long. Keep in mind I made this video over the course of 2 evenings for highschool, I didn't put that much thought into it.
You are right about his persecution of heretics. There is evidence that he had people accused of heresy whipped and tortured at his house in Chelsea, and saw others condemned to death. There is some evidence that he may have regretted this later, possibly when he faced trial himself. I admire him for his intellect, and his strength in standing up for his beliefs, even unto death.
Thomas More was an agent of the Vatican who's sole philosophy was to wipe Christianity from the face of the earth - anyone who dared carried a Bible or preached the word of God was cruelly tortutured burned at the stake upon Mores orders and thousands perished in this barbarous fashion - In the Bible the right to own private property is a God given and unalienable one, but More wrote against this in Utopia. More was canonized by the Vatican because his philosophy was from his father the Devil.
I am currently reading the book for my English class, but the language is pretty archaic for one whose mother tongue is not English, but this video is really helpful, thanks a lot. :)
Heh, pretty good. You got all the important points. More was an impressive guy, it's not everybody who'd lose his head before doing what he thinks is wrong.
I really enjoyed your presentation. I've sent it to a number of friends. I really thought you captured the essence of More's ideas, and the whimsy is marvellous :)
I liked the whimsical parts -- the part about his hat... and the ending... the girl in the back of the class... and some of the other parenthetical remarks seemed nicely whimsical.
I've been studying Thomas More for a long time, probably from before you were born. Your presentation is excellant and I would like to post it on my Myspace about Sir Thomas if you don't mind. BTW, if no one else has told you, the last painting you showed (in mentioning the hat)was Thomas Cromwell, not Sir Thomas...
wow you really think it's that good? That's so cool! I'd be honoured for you to post it! Erk, that's a pretty big mistake isn't it... (the picture thing) darn google... I didn't know
@zsezse215 You have to be both to be the best.

Sir Thomas More. The bravest man to ever live. He's now my favorite figure in history. I admire him greatly.

For excellent insights into More and his Utopia and philosophy, see Chamber's THOMAS MORE book. It's really interesting and deep.
