Say what you will about Navarre, and I'll concede that he wasn't one of the best Michigan quarterbacks (far from it), but unlike the man that followed, Chad Henne, he can say he beat Ohio State. Henne had four chances and came up short every time. What a shame too because Henne had a great career. What made this rivalry great was coaches who understood the rivalry and made the Game everything. But in the long run we would get better quarterbacks because it's a better pro offense then the spread. Long story short we need a defense. They suck.
@ragemorello Harbaugh has done great things at Stanford and developed the talent he inheireted, something good coaches do. The term "rebuilding" does not need to be a big deal when you have a coach who develops the talent he has and inspires the kids to do greater things than they are expected. This is the REAL problem, it is not about "talent" it is about character...something the higher ups at UM forgot while they were looking for a great "sceme". I miss the rivalry

OSU was not looking for "next level" or "an innovative sceme" or even Championships...they only wanted to beat UM. Until Michigan can get that mindset (which was in Bo) then they will continue to be this type of team...sadly the rivalry will suffer. So whoever is there better have this attitude, period

IMO the 2003 Wolverines were the fifth best Big Ten team of the 2000s so far, a really dynamite team. And they gave the national co-champions a game in the Rose Bowl.

DT Cameron Heyward is more ovverated then Pat Massey was. And the only good pass rusher you have is Thad Gibson.

Everybody from the Buckeyes coaches to the commentators to the fans knew that those two would step in for Carpenter and Hawk. But JL and Freeman do not have any groomed replacements like Hawk and Carpenter did. The suckeyes have a bunch of 200 pound nickelbacks (like Tyler Moeller and Brian Rolle) vying to replace JL and Freeman. What a joke!

Several times our o-line opened up huge holes (especially on the right side) that Brandon Minor and Michael Shaw ran right through. You were only able to generate pressure when you blitzed, and with Tate Forcier at the helm next season as opposed to Nick SheriDONE, you're going to pay for blitzing next season. In addition, our o-line will be so much more experienced.

What made this rivalry great was coaches who understood the rivalry and made the Game everything. Bo did it in 69, and Tressel did it too...Hate to say this as an OSU fan but Michigan needs a "Tressel killer". Then it needs to think about National Championships...RR is not the guy.

@bouwadi3 I hear they are looking at Harbaugh from Stanford. That would be perfect the only problem is that we would need to go through more years of rebuilding to get the players Harbaugh needs. But in the long run we would get better quarterbacks because it's a better pro offense then the spread. Long story short we need a defense. They suck.

The term "rebuilding" does not need to be a big deal when you have a coach who develops the talent he has and inspires the kids to do greater things than they are expected. This is the REAL problem, it is not about "talent" it is about character...something the higher ups at UM forgot while they were looking for a great "sceme". I miss the rivalry

OSU was not looking for "next level" or "an innovative sceme" or even Championships...they only wanted to beat UM. Until Michigan can get that mindset (which was in Bo) then they will continue to be this type of team...sadly the rivalry will suffer. So whoever is there better have this attitude, period

1. 2005 Penn State Nittany Lions - equal to USC and Texas, could have played ball with them that year.
2. 2002 Ohio State Buckeyes - National championship caliber team
3. 2008 Penn State Nittany Lions - A great team that unfortunately lost in the Rose Bowl
4. 2002 Iowa Hawkeyes - A very underrated team that looked at times better than the team that took home the hardwood.
Those are just my top 4, but you could switch around any of those and still have a good argument for it.

Ok, to reply to your redundant redundancy, Michigan leads the series overall 57-42-6, don't exclude areas of history to look better. In the past Michigan has more national titles, big ten titles, and rose bowl games. I'm trying to say that yes, while Ohio State has been much better the past 10 years, look 10 years before that, Michigan was much better, 10 years before that, it was even, and so on and so on. My point is that both teams waver back and fourth concerning who dominates the series.

Aside from the fact that Laurainitis, Freeman, and Jenkins were the heart, soul, and backbone of your defense, you also lose 2 year starting DT Nader Abdallah and 2 year starting CB Donald Washington. Your two safeties are good, but that's it. You have no cornerbacks now aside from the mediocre Chimdi Chekwa. Your linebackers are a joke (seriously, are any of them over 210 pounds?). DT Cameron Heyward is more ovverated then Pat Massey was. And the only good pass rusher you have is Thad Gibson.

No, you will not be able to replace Laurainitis and Freeman. JL was groomed as carpenters replacement, and Freeman was groomed as Hawks replacement. Everybody from the Buckeyes coaches to the commentators to the fans knew that those two would step in for Carpenter and Hawk. But JL and Freeman do not have any groomed replacements like Hawk and Carpenter did. The suckeyes have a bunch of 200 pound nickelbacks (like Tyler Moeller and Brian Rolle) vying to replace JL and Freeman. What a joke!

You lose your top 2 tacklers, and 3 of your top 6 tacklers. And your d-line did not whip our ass. Several times our o-line opened up huge holes (especially on the right side) that Brandon Minor and Michael Shaw ran right through. You were only able to generate pressure when you blitzed, and with Tate Forcier at the helm next season as opposed to Nick SheriDONE, you're going to pay for blitzing next season. In addition, our o-line will be so much more experienced.

They lose all their top players, whereas Michigan returns 10/11 starters on offense and finally has a good defensive coordinator to coach up the talent we have on defense (Greg Robinson). Most importantly, we have a quarterback who can effectively run RichRods spread option offense (Tate Forcier). It don't pay to argue with Buckeyes...all you have to do is give em numbers..57-42-6...that means they will ALWAYS...ALWAYS..ALWAYS be looking at our tail lights..that will never change...NEVER..NEVER..we'll always have the advantage over them so just let then continue to embarass themselves by rioting after football games..I don't know who's worse, Columbus or East Lansing!
