@dodadue89 Thanks. I actually used to get that when I was a kid. I was pretty full of beans and probably got off on that a little. I got out of that. It probably has something to do with why I keep a beard. Not that he isn't a genius, but I did get tired of the comparison at one point of my life. I had a buddy who looked like another popular rock star, and I remember thinking how silly he was, pointing it out to people and enjoying the comparison. I grew up. I also would be a chunky Paul.
@ctmale1956 That is a little Zimnicki soprano. That was actually just a quick experiment. He has made many since then, and has become as great a uke builder as he is guitar builder.
in any way related to Bob Bourassa, the producer of the 'Fandango' (late sixties) demo (Roy Cunningham, Barkays, Jeff Baxter, Doobie Brothers, etc.) ? again, Wow!
Sorry, not that I know of. Then again, all of of us can trace our name back to a Jesuit missionary's brother in Quebec, because he changed the spelling of his name, so his progeny could trace their ancestry.
Man, I'm speechless again. You are GOD'S GIFT to us. I've had the privilege of thumbing through your vids, and every ONE is an absolute JEWEL. You are blessed with a gift, and you have worked HARD to perfect it. PLEASE keep 'em comin', pal. Thank you SO SO much.
I bought a tenor uke two weeks ago because arthritis is making it hard to play the guitar. I was never that good at the guitar, but the uke is a blast.
Watching Rob play this song, which I'm trying to learn, I almost put the uke back in the case and sent it back to the store, but I'll keep at it.
You know...If I ever did learn how to play this good....then it wouldn't be as entertaining to watch...because I would have solved the mystery on how it's done. Rob entertains the entertainers.
Wow...what a small world. I have relatives in Belleville and New Boston Michigan...we had a local kids show in Manitoba called Archie and his friends...I never got a chance to be on the show...and I've been a alcoholic eversince.
Foobles, thank you for the nice words. I played on Bozo's Big Top, the 60s and 70s TV show, here in Detroit. Bozo was a cool guy. He had milk and cookies for me, and we played banjos in his dressing room, after the show. I was about 13. I was still impressed with the fact that it was really Bozo, and he was a pretty good musician.
Very impressive playing, but in my opinion you are playing this beautiful song way too fast! Wish I could play that well, but I'd save the speed for a different tune.
You are right. Too fast. It is a beautiful song. My favorite version is Jeanne Crane in "My Little Margie". I like Cliff Edwards as well. There is also a Vaudeville segue in early 20th Century music that utilizes familiar melodies in an extremely fast treatment. This was one of those types of performances, meant not to move people with the beauty of the tune, but to show dexterity to a prospective online student who doubted my technical ability.
And impressed we are with your dexterity! You're right, you somehow also played it in the spirit of the era when this song was composed. I'm thinking Roy Smeck et al. I like it!
Hi Rob - great playing and a credit to th AG Forum! I did a guitar version of this some time ago - you can catch it on the Tube! Cheers - Will Fly :-)
I don't usually bother posting comments like this, but you look like Paul McCartney with a beard. Anyone else see that? Also very nice playing.

Excellent rendition of a fast version... but I think this rapid paced version removes the soul from the song. IMHO.

I usually just strum the uke while I sing songs, and that's what I like to do.
This fast stuff was done by request, by someone who liked Roy Smeck and wanted to see some of the crazier techniques for uke.
I like slow Hawaiian songs, and Tin Pan Alley, not too fast, so keep playing.
