@adelaidejetboy I'm glad that this song brings good memories to you. My father introduced me to Leo's music and this was our favorite. Thanks for your comment
My late Father loved Leo and loved this version of Pamela Brown. One of the only gigs we ever went to together was Leo Kottke and yes, he played this song. My Dad was smiling from ear to ear after that gig. Thanks Leo.
it must be the name and not the last name lol my dad used to sing this song to me as a kid and i loved it being a pamela my self makes it even more funnier and some words are very true
@gattosub It's to bad that the love of your life didn't work out the way you wanted it to. Many people don't get to experience the feeling of finding that perfect person. The trick is keeping that relationship going, or learning from your mistakes and appreciating the next person for what they can contribute to your life. Good luck in finding another person to make you complete. Thank you for your contribution to my comment board
For so many years now, Leo's Pamela Brown has marked such a true paralell to my own life. Like he touch my book of life and put it to a song. Indeed, my Pamela Brown experience launched me onto a life of wondering about that will never end. I truly hope she is fine with her life wherever she is for how can she ever know "WHAT SHE DID TO ME!" and how I will always be thankful for what she has meant to me.
@gattosub I think you've missed the point. His life was better because she dumped him. "Especially for what she did FOR me". Go make your life better.
@minewa I've never had the opportunity to experience "goose farts on a muggy day", so I'll have to take John Fahey's expertise on that one. Leo's voice has all the charm of someone singing with a sore throat and yet it leaves a lasting impression. I wasn't aware that Tom T. Hall had written Pamela Brown and so, my hat goes off to him. I took it for granted that Leo took it upon himself to write lyrics to one of his songs. Thanks for your comments and for visiting my vid
It might be noted that on Kottke's "6 and 12 string guitar", on Takoma Records, owned by guitarist and non-vocalist John Fahey, that in the liner notes Fahey described Kottke's voice as sounding like "goose farts on a muggy day," take it any way you want.
Tom T. Hall, who wrote "Pamela Brown", did a mighty nice original, but this is one of my favorite vocals by Kottke.
I recall reading a magazine article over 30 years ago, an interview with Leo Kottke where the journalist quoted Leo's daughter, who was a wee young'un at the time, as saying "Oh Daddy, please don't sing!" (The magazine left the quote in because both Leo and the author thought it was sweetly funny). Listening to "Pamela Brown", you can hear a nice, easygoing, understated voice that fits the song perfectly and shades the words in all the right places, and I bet Leo's little girl now thinks so too.
@MrJamesrnolan I can't picture anyone else who could do a better job of singing Pamela Brown. I really appreciate your comment and thanks for being a fan of Leo's
I love it! As a wee lad, I lived opposite Pamela. I thought she was terrific ... and she was only about nine-years old! Recently, I happened to hear that she had married a builder ... I wonder if he drove a pick-up truck ... ? Greetings to everybody from Big Hugh of Mundlimup in wonderful Western Australia! Cheers!
thanks for stopping by. because of the lyrics of leo's song, i think you were possibly lucky that pamela was only your neighbor. and to you my friend, a resounding howdy from florida in the good old u.s. of a.
@Jarrahnut I lived in Illinois growing up. I, too, knew a Pamela Brown when I was about 12. It was my first crush. I am not sure she knew I even existed.
Seems this song touches a number of us fellas. Even if her name wasn't Pamela Brown, we all apparently have an experience similar to that in the song.
@feristelli thank you again and in case leo did sell his soul, maybe we need to introduce him to charlie daniels. if you're interested, i can upload more of leo
@lenardodivinci I feel as if we have a failure to communicate! My reply was in response to your question for freistelli, quote:"If you're interested, I can upload more of leo, hence my reply: By all means feel free to go for it" I apologise for any and all confusion, oh and by the way, an uploader with the you tube moniker of rosyrecords has been uploading a double buttload of Leo Stuff, just a little heads up, check him out!

@37Flat I guess I'll have to take you're word on that. Pamela seems to leave a lot of heartache in her wake. Be careful :)

I have met "Pamela Brown" several times, and she allways went for the easy winners :)
