I've always been watching at the subscribtions page but they are fucking that up as well. I've watched certain video's multiple times but even if they are good, I don't want them hanging around there forever.
I think the new front page is quite good actually. I never got the previous page. It showed me a mess of video's. I'd remove them, come back later and they'd be there again, etc.
This is a nice chronoligical view of all video's. New ones on top, older ones beneath. This is how it should be imo... If this is the way they are organised, I don't need the remove option.
Now, I also liked the 2009 one (queue with remove), but this one is a major step forward from the previous design...

Google does nothing on YT unless it increases profit.This new channel design is a deliberate effort to marginalize and perhaps eliminate what Google considers to be non revenue generating portions of it's site.

There is new functionality - at the top of the videos section - uncheck "Show uploads only" and you are given not only your friends favorites, announcements and likes, but you also get their comments & what video they made them on. They are slowly incorporating all the features they had on that special beta project they had a few months back.
You have noticed that the icon on the tabs no longer is the little; "Youtube" icon. I'll bet anyone 5 bucks that by end of next year you tube will no longer have "youtube" as part of its icon at all.
This is all about taking the "you" out of "youtube".
Yeah, I was VERY displeased with the inability to get rid of new videos. Now my subscription box is a jumbled mess and I have no way of getting it sorted out. This is by far the worse modification to the home page they've ever done, and that is saying something. I really don't understand why they had to change the original system in the first place.
The fact that they removed the x button to eliminate a video or even the fact that the video now stays on the page even after you watched it , say a lot of where you tube is going......just one more way to shove shit they promote down your throat . In few years you tube will be like tv ...just watch what we say and shut up!
This video perfectly explains the dissatisfaction with the new youtube setup. I'd suggest everyone share it on facebook, with friends, and get it the attention it needs. Catering to the "little guy" is why youtube became great in the first place. Who are the google corporates that are wearing blinders? I'm not crazy about this new look either, for these reasons and more. I don't like having to relearn how the site works and also when someone replies to a comment I left somewhere and I go to find it, no longer is my comment highlighted in yellow.

Previously, when I would click the link to a video in the emails sent out after receiving a comment reply, YouTube would open the video with the thread containing the comment reply separated above the rest of the comments, making it very easy to have a decent debate or discussion via YouTube comments back and forth. Now, they stopped that feature. I guess YouTube is not interested in allowing serious discussion anymore...
I think you are right. I think YouTube intends to squeeze out the little guys. Ever since Google took over, corporate greed has won and the simple idea of providing a true service to users has lost.
Errm, why don't you just hit the "load more" bar at the bottom of the main page I just checked and I can see videos uploaded up to 5 days ago that way, and I am subcribed to over 600 other channels.
I sent the same feedback to them. The first thing I looked for was the X button, but it was gone and it's been what...2 days, and I STILL have the same vids on my page. -_- I hate it.
I honestly preferred the last redesign to the original. The sole reason that i could scroll down and watch all the new videos in the order that they had been put up. That's not really important most of the time, but that's just how i want it. First thing first. I find it stupid to confine me to the -newest- new videos.
But hey, a change i like! It tells me exactly how many characters i am over the limit when typing a comment. I've wished for that since i first came here.
This new front page is so annoying. The first 10 posts are not even videos, just commens and even LIKES of channels i subscribed too. now i have to klick 3 to 4 times just to see if a youtuber has post a new vid... (yes there is the "show only uploads" mark, but this does not help wehn you have 20 subscriptions and 10 of them posts regulary, the rest not)
Very good vid, but I have a feeling it will fall on deaf ears. I would imagine they would expect a fair deal of complaints, and then assume we'll all get in line and stop complaining once we're used to it or aware that nothing will be done. I would imagine in a couple of months time they will change it again and we'll want this one back!
They have made a right mess of it all, its just not the user friendly place it used to be, and I don't understand what they think they are playing at ( unless its like you say ) ... just a shame,

This is desperately annoying. One of my favourite channels only puts out a video once every few months, but they're very interesting videos (and valuable - raising awareness for those severely affected with autism). Due to the last layout, I've already missed a video of theirs.. now, I'm likely to miss them all.
Pinning their channel to my homepage is an option, but I'd have to check every single day for a video that only comes out once every few months.. It seems ridiculous.
@Dannan1989 Well, before you could have subscribed to them by email. I just noticed a shout out video, and when I subscribe, I go with subscribing by email. I am not seeing that option at the moment. I may be missing it stupidly, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
@Dannan1989 Actually, what you could do is go to your user name top right, settings, email options. You can set to get email updates daily or weekly. I'll just make it daily and if I add more subscriptions I'll still see them in the daily update.
It looks nice enough, but terrible for people with a lot of subscriptions. Think its safe to say I fall in to that category. So, what do I do to try to avoid this problem of missing videos? I've had to take to email subscriptions. When someone uploads a video, I get it by email. I then either watch it then and there, or star it for later. Going through my subscriptions and changing them all to email would be tedious. I'm sure there are lots of great videos I'm still missing.

Yes, it's very annoying indeed to not be able to remove watched videos. What's up with that. It's the usual development though. Internet used to be a very user driven, anarchic place once, but that has changed as well.
I just use "subscriptions", and only use the front page to see if I have gotten any comments.
But I disagree with you, a bit here Paul. You are not supposed to look at the "front page" videos. If we use the golden ratio/section, "subscriptions" and "featured" are in area. As well as "From YouTube" and "recommended". I get distracted when trying to click a video. Because my eyes sure as hell aint watching the middle, but instead the fancy colors to the left and right.
That sucks. I hadn't noticed it, because I go to my subscriptions page to see what's new. What I have noticed is that my own comments are harder to find, now that there's no yellow highlight, and there's no "cancel" button associated with this comment box I'm typing in -- only a "post" button.
I KNOW they don't care about feedback about the changes, because the only time they ask you for it is before you've had a chance to check them out.
The attitude of YT is quite similar to the American government right now. "We know what you want, we know our business is based on your participation... but it's really all about what we want. And the money. That is also important." Is it any wonder why people are losing hope? No matter how large or small the issue, from YT on up, our voice is almost non-existent. It's quite sad, really.
My problem is that my page is filled with like three prolific video makers, and i'm considering unsubbing from TYT to clean up my homepage a bit. The video rsponses disapeared then came back, so maybe the delete video option will come back as the new looks fully comes out of beta??
I keep an account here because of the folks to whom I sub, so I can comment on their vids. Because I don't want to close my account and lose track of folks, I'll put up with my real name being broadcasted on my channel page thanks to the new Google's new rule. Google and YT are a bunch of pirates who have us by the balls/ovaries. Stay and deal with it, or leave. So, I'll stay-because of y'all. But I shall be working on a way to fuck up my name on google plus, just because I can.
Its still there for me, but I'm working on it. I've dumped a bunch of channels, like DoDvids and others who are posting vids from their website, so I can clear the way for the folks I'm afraid won't get their vid in the que so I'll see it. Btw, this vid still appears on my channel as if I've not been here several times already to pump up the thumbs up, just because I can.

I've subscribed to you something like five times. It hasn't taken once. I only get your vids popped up at me when someone on my subscription list thumbs it. Well, I used to only get it that way. I got here because it was recommended to me right at the top of the page (imagine that... youtube helpfully recommending the video of someone I've subscribed to five times).
It might not turn out as bad as you think. We'll see.
This grey they have as a background is awful, it's like they intentionally want people to accept blandness. I guess that's their plan, get us all to accept mediocrity so the big channels get more views.
only thing I like better about the mainpage is when I click someone's name it pops up their video queue rather than having to go to their channel, then scroll through their queue
To add insult to injury, I went to the help files to see if I could get instructions on how to modify this to my liking and it gave me instructions for the old design I liked!

They did the same thing to Myspace a few years ago. They are INTENTIONALLY trying to destroy the social aspect of this website. Myspace used to be the top social network. It is now dead. It is now one giant commercial. Almost no one ever goes there anymore for anything. That's what they want to do to this website. They are trying to cram commercialism down our throats. The only way I can now use this website it to click on my screen name in the top right corner and click the "subscriptions" link
In my experience on YouTube as I've been around roughly as long as you, there's always been a period of criticism immediately following a redesign and then everyone goes back to doing what they do so I'm careful not to rush to judgement on things like this. Yours is the first video I've seen since the redesign and when I confirmed that the video didn't disappear once it had been watched even I can only view this as an absolute disgrace.
Having been here for rather a long time I've seen several of these changes. Most of them had nothing to do with improved functionality, more to do with making money for YT. A whole host of things don't work any more. Many of those I'm subscribed to no longer show up in my subs box at all and it's obvious the same happens with mine. Many tell me they don't see mine any more. My views are down significantly. I have a strong feeling it's quite intentional. We don't matter to them, they want rid.
I've got a blue bar in the bottom right of any page of Youtube asking for feed back on the new layout. It's got a handy dandy marking tool too highlight the stuff I don't like.. a broad box of the entire main page seemed about right.
When I have my daily dose of Youtube, I like to watch the video at the top and work my way down. As a result of the new layout I have to click 'load more videos' repeatedly, to get to the bottom because of my largeish subscriptions list otherwise I'll forget where the new videos begins and the top one I last saw ends.
It's the same old thing of design over user friendliness.
I agree with you that the best design they had was when the videos shifted up as you watch them. Since then I've had to make a new tab to watch a video, close the tab and click the 'x' and it's just plain needless. Cont.
It's a good thing they changed the design without asking me or giving me the option. I'm obviously too stupid to decide what design I want for my youtube experience.
I'd recommend anyone who agrees with GTF to send feedback to google (Originally there was a direct feedback, now the quickest way is "report a bug" - yes this new layout is a bug).
Highlight two things people:
1) No way to remove watched subscription videos (add X)
2) Too few subscription videos on screen (add a tabular view)
1) Quick to access (just typing "you" in the address box).
2) Immediately displays as many unwatched subscription videos as possible.
Plus I think the grey background is goldarned ugly and the homepage as well. Displaying one video per line as well as the non-removal of watched videos makes my YouTube experience frustrating and confusing.
On another note - don't worry gothatfunk, I'll be checking your channel just as regularly!
I agree with you, one tip I found is, when you click back after watching a video, hit the reload button in your browser and all the videos you have watched will disappear.
I know, man. This new shitty thing is terrible. I did'nt really get many views,(roughly 50 to 60). But this new page has gotten my newest video a grand total of 3 veiws! i have a feeling like they are flushing small timers out!

Agreed all around. It looks pretty but it is focused recommended channels and social media giants. The new channels tab at the left is supposed to show my favorite channels. It does not and the very first button on it is a link to fucking Facbook, which I do not use and never want to. Who asked for that?
The new video previews are too large, too few on screen at a time, requiring more scrolling than before. Half the page is recommended crap.
i didnt see anything wrong with the set up 3 years ago when i first got on youtube . . . they really need to start thinking about the video watching experience more and stop worrying about the cool new look they want. they should change they way they group videos. i shouldnt be watching fight videos and see fake fighting and kids doing pranks on the right of the screen . . . i should see more fight videos! and id like to see all my subs not just a few on my "home page" or whatever its called
Your own comments are no longer highlighted also. If I have an extended conversation with someone in comments it's going to be much harder to find old comments.

just one example.. yesterday, i added a video to a PRIVATE playlist, it showed up on my activity feed. then i checked and youtube had decided that the playlist is now public and I CANT FUCKING PUT IT BACK!! so they are currently forcing us to have all our playlists public and displayed in our activity feed., and you cant remove them.
there's loads others, but this is so fucking glaring, i bet there's dozens of faults that you will only stumble across
If you read the Huffington Post article about the YouTube update, you'll see that this whole update is to increase viewing of these new 100 YouTube sponsored super channels that will debut sometime next year. YouTube is becoming less friendly to us blokes who just want to express our personal views or whatever sacrificing what made YouTube awesome for more money to the corporation.
AGREED! Whats worse, if you look at the home page, up top, it says I am subscribed to 283 users. That would be wonderful, if i wasnt actually subscribed to 551! That means, 268 people I sub to, their videos will NEVER show up on my videos to watch list. WTF? Ever wonder why you never get a video made by "so and so"well now we know why. This is a long time ongoing proiblem still not fixed by YT designers, and yet lets color the pages grey, change the font, and continue to squeeze out reg YTers.

Paul, I haven't been able to X off a video in over a year. I've had to put them on the watch later playlist and go through them quickly in order for them to fall off the list. I've also experienced, for about six months, that videos I watch will still be on the list until I watch a few more videos and that if I haven't watched a video in 3 days, it will automatically fall off.
It would be nice if YT would stop "fixing" what isn't broke and pay attention to what is, i.e. the flagging system.
I don't even go to my youtube homepage, it sucks now.

This new front page is so annoying. The first 10 posts are not even videos, just commens and even LIKES of channels i subscribed too. now i have to klick 3 to 4 times just to see if a youtuber has post a new vid... (yes there is the "show only uploads" mark, but this does not help wehn you have 20 subscriptions and 10 of them posts regulary, the rest not)

I would imagine they would expect a fair deal of complaints, and then assume we'll all get in line and stop complaining once we're used to it or aware that nothing will be done. This is desperately annoying. One of my favourite channels only puts out a video once every few months, but they're very interesting videos (and valuable - raising awareness for those severely affected with autism). Due to the last layout, I've already missed a video of theirs.. now, I'm likely to miss them all.
Pinning their channel to my homepage is an option, but I'd have to check every single day for a video that only comes out once every few months.. It seems ridiculous.

@Dannan1989 Well, before you could have subscribed to them by email. I just noticed a shout out video, and when I subscribe, I go with subscribing by email. I am not seeing that option at the moment. I may be missing it stupidly, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

@Dannan1989 Actually, what you could do is go to your user name top right, settings, email options. You can set to get email updates daily or weekly. I'll just make it daily and if I add more subscriptions I'll still see them in the daily update.

It looks nice enough, but terrible for people with a lot of subscriptions. Think its safe to say I fall in to that category. So, what do I do to try to avoid this problem of missing videos? I've had to take to email subscriptions. When someone uploads a video, I get it by email. I then either watch it then and there, or star it for later. Going through my subscriptions and changing them all to email would be tedious. I'm sure there are lots of great videos I'm still missing.

But I disagree with you, a bit here Paul. You are not supposed to look at the "front page" videos. If we use the golden ratio/section, "subscriptions" and "featured" are in area. As well as "From YouTube" and "recommended". I get distracted when trying to click a video. Because my eyes sure as hell aint watching the middle, but instead the fancy colors to the left and right.

That sucks. I hadn't noticed it, because I go to my subscriptions page to see what's new. What I have noticed is that my own comments are harder to find, now that there's no yellow highlight, and there's no "cancel" button associated with this comment box I'm typing in -- only a "post" button.
I KNOW they don't care about feedback about the changes, because the only time they ask you for it is before you've had a chance to check them out.

My problem is that my page is filled with like three prolific video makers, and i'm considering unsubbing from TYT to clean up my homepage a bit. The video rsponses disapeared then came back, so maybe the delete video option will come back as the new looks fully comes out of beta??

Because I don't want to close my account and lose track of folks, I'll put up with my real name being broadcasted on my channel page thanks to the new Google's new rule. Google and YT are a bunch of pirates who have us by the balls/ovaries. Stay and deal with it, or leave. So, I'll stay-because of y'all. But I shall be working on a way to fuck up my name on google plus, just because I can.

I've subscribed to you something like five times. It hasn't taken once. I only get your vids popped up at me when someone on my subscription list thumbs it. Well, I used to only get it that way. I got here because it was recommended to me right at the top of the page (imagine that... youtube helpfully recommending the video of someone I've subscribed to five times).
It might not turn out as bad as you think. We'll see.

They did the same thing to Myspace a few years ago. They are INTENTIONALLY trying to destroy the social aspect of this website. Myspace used to be the top social network. It is now dead. It is now one giant commercial. Almost no one ever goes there anymore for anything. That's what they want to do to this website. They are trying to cram commercialism down our throats. The only way I can now use this website it to click on my screen name in the top right corner and click the "subscriptions" link

In my experience on YouTube as I've been around roughly as long as you, there's always been a period of criticism immediately following a redesign and then everyone goes back to doing what they do so I'm careful not to rush to judgement on things like this. Yours is the first video I've seen since the redesign and when I confirmed that the video didn't disappear once it had been watched even I can only view this as an absolute disgrace.

Having been here for rather a long time I've seen several of these changes. Most of them had nothing to do with improved functionality, more to do with making money for YT. A whole host of things don't work any more. Many of those I'm subscribed to no longer show up in my subs box at all and it's obvious the same happens with mine. Many tell me they don't see mine any more. My views are down significantly. I have a strong feeling it's quite intentional. We don't matter to them, they want rid.

I've got a blue bar in the bottom right of any page of Youtube asking for feed back on the new layout. It's got a handy dandy marking tool too highlight the stuff I don't like.. a broad box of the entire main page seemed about right.

When I have my daily dose of Youtube, I like to watch the video at the top and work my way down. As a result of the new layout I have to click 'load more videos' repeatedly, to get to the bottom because of my largeish subscriptions list otherwise I'll forget where the new videos begins and the top one I last saw ends.

I'd recommend anyone who agrees with GTF to send feedback to google (Originally there was a direct feedback, now the quickest way is "report a bug" - yes this new layout is a bug).
Highlight two things people:
1) No way to remove watched subscription videos (add X)
2) Too few subscription videos on screen (add a tabular view)

The whole reason of the YT frontpage for me is:
1) Quick to access (just typing "you" in the address box).
2) Immediately displays as many unwatched subscription videos as possible.
Plus I think the grey background is goldarned ugly and the homepage as well. Displaying one video per line as well as the non-removal of watched videos makes my YouTube experience frustrating and confusing.
On another note - don't worry gothatfunk, I'll be checking your channel just as regularly!

Agreed all around. It looks pretty but it is focused recommended channels and social media giants. The new channels tab at the left is supposed to show my favorite channels. It does not and the very first button on it is a link to fucking Facbook, which I do not use and never want to. Who asked for that?
The new video previews are too large, too few on screen at a time, requiring more scrolling than before. Half the page is recommended crap.

just one example.. yesterday, i added a video to a PRIVATE playlist, it showed up on my activity feed. then i checked and youtube had decided that the playlist is now public and I CANT FUCKING PUT IT BACK!! so they are currently forcing us to have all our playlists public and displayed in our activity feed., and you cant remove them.
there's loads others, but this is so fucking glaring, i bet there's dozens of faults that you will only stumble across

If you read the Huffington Post article about the YouTube update, you'll see that this whole update is to increase viewing of these new 100 YouTube sponsored super channels that will debut sometime next year. AGREED! Whats worse, if you look at the home page, up top, it says I am subscribed to 283 users. That would be wonderful, if i wasnt actually subscribed to 551! That means, 268 people I sub to, their videos will NEVER show up on my videos to watch list. WTF? Ever wonder why you never get a video made by "so and so"well now we know why. This is a long time ongoing proiblem still not fixed by YT designers, and yet lets color the pages grey, change the font, and continue to squeeze out reg YTers.

Paul, I haven't been able to X off a video in over a year. I've had to put them on the watch later playlist and go through them quickly in order for them to fall off the list. I've also experienced, for about six months, that videos I watch will still be on the list until I watch a few more videos and that if I haven't watched a video in 3 days, it will automatically fall off.
It would be nice if YT would stop "fixing" what isn't broke and pay attention to what is, i.e. the flagging system.
