Maybe I'll learn Chinese Dancing in the next life? (Note: Next life can mean more than 1 thing. There's not just 1 Next life. Could be reincarnation, could be heaven, could be when someone is famous, could be when someone is poor, etc.) Something tells me that that academy costs a fortune to get in there. I can barely image how much time and effort was put into it. I wouldn't be surprised if they practiced till they cried and bled. Unfortunately I think I probably should've started Chinese dance
@TaYuK0 at a young age. Like when I first heard of it and saw of it. Which was like years ago. [Note I'm a teen..not really that old but for a dance like this it looks like the earlier the better] Too bad I was too worried about not being accepted because I am not Asian. (African who's very intrested in dances around the world) Well at least I got 8 years of (presently very very veerrryyy rusty) French Ballet.
in case you guys were wondering, these girls are this amazing because they literally live in the studio.. they actually sleep there and dont really learn as much academic things as normal kids and they go through lots of blood and tears to get this well. they come home on like saturdays or something.. and before they can even join this school they have to have the perfect physical attributes. even if they are super flexible, if their tendons are long enough then they won't get in etc.
this is a DISPLAY OF TECHNIQUES during an examination, thus that is why they appear expressionless...cuz it's not necessarily required here. if it was a dance choreographed with a story behind it, then that would be a different story. also note for everyone unfamiliar with chinese classical dance, this genre has a lot of fundamentals based in acrobats and martial arts as well as ballet, as shown by these girls.
wow. i commend these girls.. ive been dancing for about 7years now and im nowhere near that ability! so all the haters should reconsider what theyve said...
Part three: (Sorry this is so long....) I admire these girls, I know that I wouldn't be able to handle such pressure and training. Dance becomes a job instead of fun, a shame. This was a beautiful performance
Part two: ...Can cost their future cause someone would replace them. I trained in dance and gymnastics in America and got pretty good, I went to China at one point to visit family and on a whim decided to look at a gymnastics school there and trained with them for two hours (for fun) it was very hard. There was blood on one bar where a girl was training, I asked the coach about her, turns out she had been training for over three hours on bar that day. Ouch, but to be the best, comes sacrifice.
The hard thing about China is that if you mess up there's more than likly always someone else who is willing to do your job better and for less pay. In America we compete against let's say a hundred people, in China we'd be competing again ten hundred people for one thing. Parents put kids into school like this to develop a skill and expect them to be the best for a good future, they start young and most likly end young. Their bodies cannot handle so much training or even a small injury can cost
Oh come on... my grandma can do all that, and she never did ballet? How do you want to maintain the quality of ballet if pretty much anyone not handicapped can do it
@PaidPal can you do it then? 'coz I can't. I'm not that flexible. and I'm definitely not handicapped. What the girls did in the video requires a lot of muscle strength, flexibility and stamina. not to mention a lot of discipline and practice so they do it all at the same time. that pretty much is the basis of ballet. for you to do those graceful movements you see on stage, you need all those traits and more.
there are so many kinds of dancing in the world.. just because its different doesnt make it less of a way of dancing.. i feel like some people are so easily get freaked out when they see a whole bunch of asian (chinese) people do the same thing perfectly at the same time.. weird..
Dancing is an art form. Dancing can be whatever you want it to be. Unless you are following a specific technique, there aren't rules to what you can do. Some may refer to this as dancing, and some will say gymnastics. If to these girls, they want to say dance, they can. It's undeniable that they are all talented.
This is not 'dancing' these girls are amazing, but it will destroy their bodies in later life. They don't know how to walk like dancers, they are turned in, legs bent, etc.
What I'd like to see is, now that they have these brilliant skills, some proper training.
The ability of these girls at what seems to be a young age is astounding, no doubt, but I definitely would not call this dancing. When doing ballet-similar steps their legs were bent, feet were limp, arms were misplaced.
well, according to wiki: Clone (biology), any organism whose genetic information is identical to that of a "parent organism" from which it was created .....
The beautiful thing about dance is it's what ever you want it to be. It's an art. You can make any style of dance that you want. So for the people who call this not dancing your opinion doesn't matter to the dancer because they can make they're own definition for dancing and you are just their equal so don't tell someone that they're style is not part of the art we call dancing.
Unfortunately they're forced to do this so this isn't self-expression. It's exactly what the title says. Good things is, they are building a solid foundation for technique for when they do actually start dancing :)
These are "basic" skills!? So in order to be accepted into a dance academy in China you have to be both a rhythmic contortionist, a tumbler AND a ballet dancer? Incredible.
@goldiezl do you even know that there's this thing called GENRE? both this and hip hop are real dancing of a different genre in case you don't get it. if you can only appreciate this genre then so be it, but don't bash the rest because any kind of dancing requires distinctive techniques.
@funkygroover some genres are way more difficult than others though. this is on a completely different level than hip hop and all the modern dancing in general. And lets face it - a modern dancer will die trying to do this.
@goldiezl well then you missed my point. i don't deny that this is far more difficult than what modern dancers are doing nowadays. but just so you know, in the dancing world it is a common consensus that dancing is not all about techniques. musicality, choreography, groove and the way it evokes emotions in the audience also count. because if this and only this is what you called real dancing, then the whole world except china can't dance.
@goldiezl As a soon to be professional dancer I wouldn't even call this dancing. To me this is pure gymnastics, yes they are able to do amazing things with their bodies which I will never be able to do and quite frankly I don't want to. It's all about the kind of flexibility that will destroy your body and all the things that for me is dance is lacking.

I bet most of the american professional dancers would never even have the guts to try this
but see, this is real dancing, not shaking your ass on hip hop music and calling it freestyle
goldiezl 11 months ago
@goldiezl
dance is a reaction to the music. So "shaking your ass on hip hop music" would fit that definition though it wouldn't be considered professorial.
joma1993 11 months ago
