Hi all - I am pleased to tell you that the "Waltz Away Dreaming EP" by Toby Bourke is finally now available for download at I Tunes - just thought I would let you know!!!
I was bartender in Swan´s in 91, now I´m back to my country, but I still remember his songs. When he used to perform there, it was the crowdest day at Swan. Very nice guy, great artist, strong voice, good heart. Hope he is fine and doing well.
@hrtantra Hi all - I am pleased to tell you that the "Waltz Away Dreaming EP" by Toby Bourke is finally now available for download at I Tunes - just thought I would let you know!!!
This is one of the most haunting songs I've ever heard.... I can still remember hearing it when I brought the Waltz away dreaming single. I was living in London at the time at felt really isolated. I used to listen to this on repeat. Where ever you are Toby I raise a glass to you sir - this is what music is about not the pop crap the likes of cowell produces....
There are many kind things posted here that could easily make a guy miss all those with whom some great times were shared. Rob K - I hope you are doing good. You were always the benchmark guitar player for this band.
I was also a Stockwell Swan regular from 91 through to early 93'. I have the signed Album Toby recorded live upstairs. He has also since put out the single with George but Toby also put out an Album called Room 21 in 2001 on George's now defunked record label. It has most of his own songs from the glory days plus some newer ones. I got it from Amazon I think. Great reading al these Comments. Some people may also remember James McNally ala Storm. He now plays in Afro Celt (sound system).
@JohnA116 He had an accident on the way to a munster new zealand rugby match last year. He was pushing a car and his hand went through the headlight. He nearly died but is back working in dublin but not playing music.
Just found this as I was telling a friend about those times. Yeah I remember those times at The Swan and The Bully. I was Tobys guitarist/sidekick/drinking buddy during those days and you're right, we did a shit-hot version of Rolling Stone and Maeve.....If you read this, I hope that all is good in your world today. Lots of love, Rob x
I grew up with Toby at Queens gate Gardens. A great friend, a great artist. To bad we lost contact when I left for Canada. If ever he reads this Hi to all from Thierry Regaud-Safir.
Yes, I used to see Toby at The Swan, he was great live , used to finish with a great version of Dylan's 'Rolling Stone.
He also used to host an open mic session in the back room of The Bulls Head. Eveyone was welcome to have a go, no matter how good, or in my case how bad you were. There were some great characters at those nights, all well lubricated with pints of G.
'Ballad of North Street' captured those days beautifully.
Toby used to play every Monday night at The Swan in Stockwell, played for a couple of years around about 1992 when The Swan was still an Irish pub, he recorded and released an album of his own songs, proper recording, not a pub session, but it was only available through the pub. I do have it somewhere and I will post some songs from it, everyone is up there with this song.
As a soldier based in Germany,we were sent over 2 our CO's house to shift boxes. On top of one of the boxes was this tape & we put it on. We asked who the singer was & she said it was somebody she used to know. It was obvious from the lyrics the song was about her. Breathtakingly beautiful & an utter enigma. rarely seen around barracks but when she does heads come out the window to grab a glimpse!! Just a bit of trivia for anyone tuning in. an amazing song to say the least. Stuart(SG's)
beautiful voice, beautiful song.

Ignore the age on my profile - it's a lie.
I had sex with Toby Bourke several times when he was a student in Aberysytwyth University.
Details are sketchy, but I'll share if required.
