Just bought chi at a grocery/drug store. Just found out about this. It kinda freaks my out and I'll be more careful next time. Considering there was a salon two doors down.
4manzy...You obviously haven't worked in situations where they approached you trying to buy in bulk. Where I work, we cannot refuse to sell product to anyone, BUT we do have a limit on how much they buy. You can tell who they are they walk in and just grab stuff. They don't care what they buy. Buying diverted products is one of the most unsafe and disgusting things you'll do. But if you really want to pay more money for nothing, then go get the fake stuff at Wal Mart, Then buy ours, its better.
Being a hairdresser this topic REALLY ticks me off! I hate seeing professional products on the shelves of mass marketers! I have spent my time and money gaining the knowledge I have to recommend products to my clients and I and other hairdressers are losing out on product sales. Not that product sales make up alot of our paychecks, so its more of a pride thing. And yes, I agree that large companies such as Loreal are part of the problem! That is why I sell private label products!
Products are in the stores, they have been for years. This is nothing new. The products are placed in the stores like Wal-Mart and CVS because the product distributors are the ones selling it to them. PERIOD! I've done my homework on this matter, and I'm here to tell you, the product companies want the best of both worlds. Don't be fooled! If you were Loreal and Wal Mart wanted to sell your entire line in all their stores, what would you do? Business owners think about it!
My bed head conditioner does not work. Bottle had BIG dent and was about to crack open, the color was not right, it had a big dirty unidentified stain on it and was not completely full, there was dirty black/brown substance used to fill the bottle. It was on "clearance". I asked them to reduce the price bc the state of bottle and bc I had just seen at the salon that had a better deal for 2. They immediately obliged. I was stupid and naive. I got sick from it.
@janiekendle Sorry to hear that. Any time you see a Professional product in a store that is NOT a salon, please DON'T buy it & either take a picture, write down the name of the product and where you found it and go to the product company's web site and report it via email or call their toll free number. Unfortunately, many consumers don't understand the risk they take buying these products outside of the salon. You either pay more for fake product or get sick from contaminated product.
