Freddie and Fannie gave those loans because Clinton's administration told the banks to lighten up the restrictions on 'handing out' mortgages, instead of having the good credit and 'earning' it!

If you'll take the time to look at dept of labor statistics. Prior to late '06 when democrats took majority in the house and senate, unemployment was a record low 4.4%. In January of '07, under a democratic majority, unemployment started an upward trend to our now record high 7.6% unemployment and continuing to climb. Obama himself says unemployment could reach 10% before 2012. Bush spent, yes, but Obama has spent in one month, what Bush spent in 8 years!

So it wasn't Bill Clinton that put pressure on banks to lend to people with 520 credit scores and weren't qualified for these mortgages. His policies didn't force lenders to finance high risk homes or face fines. I didn't realize George W Bush was President in the mid 90's and these were his policies. Thanks for clearing that up. If this was Clintons fault then why the failure now? It should have been ongoing. Republicans owned the congress senate and presidecny for 8 years and did nothing to change it. Oh, you mean the sub prime mortgage mess that got us into this? Wait, no, that cant be. Requiring banks to give out those risky loans was a pet project of the Democrats. When it started to become apparent there were serious issues with the program, who resisted calls from the republicans to look into the problems at Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac? Thats right, the democrats, including Chairman of the house financial service comity Barney Frank. (Democrat if you didn't know) Thanks guys.

Take some responsibility the Bush years were the biggest spending years in the history of the country. The GOP created this mess pure and simple. By Freddie and Fannie's own admission they were losing market share to the other lenders because of the sub prime mortgage rates and they not the government forcing them started giving out loans to anyone with a pulse.

Freddie and Fannie gave those loans because Clinton's administration told the banks to lighten up the restrictions on 'handing out' mortgages, instead of having the good credit and 'earning' it!

That is very good. We might all need some of this before it is over. I have read that the sale of antidepressants have gone up in the last few months. This sounds better then an antidepressant if it has a euphoric drug in it. Something like the book Fahrenheit 451. Keep the people drugged so the government can do what it likes...

Every time he speaks, the stock market drops. More companies are laying off. I haven't heard one economist that agrees with his stimulus and tax plan. He's a one term failure.

Thanks. My brother is a lawyer and my wife's brother is a police detective. If I've learned anything from them, it is to look at all angles and listen to both sides of a story before I formulate an opinion. If half of these liberals would stop watching MSNBC and do just a little research, they would have never voted for a democrat. Democrats need them to be poor and keep them just that. If you'll take the time to look at dept of labor statistics. Prior to late '06 when democrats took majority in the house and senate, unemployment was a record low 4.4%. In January of '07, under a democratic majority, unemployment started an upward trend to our now record high 7.6% unemployment and continuing to climb. Obama himself says unemployment could reach 10% before 2012. Bush spent, yes, but Obama has spent in one month, what Bush spent in 8 years!
