  • I see it now...How does it sound straight in?

  • @busterswt It's an amazing machine. It's clean, with a soul....

  • Meant to ask...are you stomp box'd in this run?

  • Don't ya hate it when that fuckin happens! Doc58

    Mojostrat58

  • @busterswt The Blues Gods said stop!!!

  • Thanks for the response. Your video quality is very good also. How did you film it and sink up with audio. thanks....

  • Play it, brother! Play it! Tone TV is alright with ME!

    :D

  • U've probably answered this.. But, how did you record this ? mic the amp and send to a USB interface ? the recording and playing is extremely good

  • @motokev Thanks for the kind words! It's a pro signal chain. Midas XL42 for a mic pre, recorded @ 24/94 into Nuendo. The amp is the key though. Good recordings come from a good source, and Tommy's amps are incredible.

  • Do you prefer the plim soul over the full drive ?

  • @jessemayra The Plim seems a bit sweeter, however the FD is such an iconic pedal. I still own both!

  • Beautiful tone. I was just lookin up this pedal on the Fulltone website. Sounds like a great pedal.

  • @Fishies125 Thanks for the compliment! The Plim rocks! I've gotta add, my amp is a monsta too. It's a Custom by Cougar PS70. and it's the best clean amp I've played. And yes, I've played a Steel String Singer. ;-)

  • @AndyBaylor Ya, I was gonna add, but forgot, your whole setup is nice and of course the overdrive pedal is only half the picture.

  • Have you played Cusack Screamer (Fuzz) 2, and how does Plim compare?

    Thanks.

  • @MrMemag I have not played the Cusack...sorry! He seems to have a good rep though.

  • @AndyBaylor Okay, thanks for the reply.Cheers!

  • my dreamroom

  • I want to hear the PLim with some rock or metal! Come on!

  • @richedie Sorry mang...I don't have time these days! Too Busy....Full time musician.. HOWEVER, I'm SURE you could dial in respectable rock and metal outa this box. Mike Fuller's designs are great for copping a number of tones, or fixing a "sterile" amp...giving it the tone to inspire massive shred. Thanks!

  • hey man . . . im considering the SKB PS45 for a pedalboard . . . what u think? also currently I have the EP Booster in front of the OCD . . . heaven. Still considering the Plimsoul tho. I mean if the OCD takes me places then the Plimsoul should add a lot hopefully. I notice in this vid that you hold notes and they automatically feedback after 2 sec. I want that!!!

  • Lol... "dialing in the love". I totally can relate. Hey what does this mean. . . "The Plim is for rockin the solos for the hott rock chicks!". . . ok I'm ordering the Plim!!!. . . Lol

  • @joelg125 COOL MAN!!! You won't regret it. Mike Fuller's designs are the best.

    BTW-Hey Joe...heard you shot...oh never mind...

  • Can I get ur opinion on the OCD vs the Plimsoul?

  • @joelg125 I love them both...and have both on my board. The Plim has more gain control with the two gain stages, and really lets you dial in the love. :-). FWIW- I use the OCD with a touch of gain, like a Tube Screamer. A boost to flavor the clean tone. The Plim is for rockin the solos for the hott rock chicks!

  • hey..i play guitar too!!

  • @klepetar No shit, Sherlock. We all do.

  • What speakers you got there in the cab ? sounds wonderful

  • 2:02 ... "hate it when that happens" ...

Lots of quality in your uploads - thanks for posting!

  • @sseklof Thank you for the kind words!

You say Jonas Brother,Isay Green Day

92% of teens have turned to pop and hip-hop.If you are part of the 8% that still listens to real music, copy and paste this message to 5 other videos. DON'T LET THE SPIRIT OF ROCK AND ROLL DIE

  • @95shredder

    Nickelback, Evanescence, Slipknot, Linkin Park...

    "spirit of rock and roll"??????????????????????

  • @FlavioBrinck I'd rather you just flagged my comment instead of posting one yourself for everyone to see.

  • @95shredder Dude, seriously, I don't wanna troll, but if you consider those bands 'the spirit of rock 'n roll' you've got a lot of soul searching to do back into the history of music! I personally dig Slipknot and of Linkin Park I can at least say their production and sound are interesting. If you dig this, try some Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, Jeff Beck, even The Beatles? And some Mahavishnu Orchestra, just 'cause I'm such an evangelical fan ;) Hope you dig it!

  • @NJlo Thanks. But my point is that modern bands are going to be classic eventually. Taste evolves with time.

  • @godbyone Thank you very much! I just do what I do. Music is my life.

  • Where is the attenuator in the signal chain?

  • @95shredder Between the amp and speaker cab.

  • What?! No whammy bar?!

  • @95shredder Nah...not on this one... ;-) Thanks!

  • Great playing kind sir.....however....1 gripe. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO THE GIGANTIC FLYING GUITAR VIDEOS? I come back after a couple of years...and bam!!!gone!!!

This is what you do. You make a flying guitar vid...BUT...you start it out like normal. Then...you introduce another gigantic flying guitar. They are cool to co-exist in the first place....but then they start fighting for space. The whole thing culminates in a gigantic flying guitar knife fight with prison shanks. You want views?doit

  • @Sn4pDr4gon LOLOLOL

Man..if I had the time, I'd do the "flying guitars" vids...but it takes FOREVER to do that stuff. Setting up the FX, etc.

But you're right. It would get views. Lets find some investors....spend someone else's money!

  • Wonderful stuff Andy!

Gunna have to try out the Plimsoul now :)

    Cheers and Happy Holidays

    BK

  • @sidewindermusic Hey Man! Thanks a lot!!

After I read this, I IMMIEDIATLY went to the amp room to fire up a Les Paul through the Plim.

And I’m happy to report….it sounds great! You should dig it.

Happy Holidays to you and yours as well. AB

  • Great phrasing and tone. A very unique approach to the blues.

  • @Nickstrtcstr Thanks for the kind words! I just do what I do. :-)

  • Hy Andy, I really like this video, very nice playing and superb sound! Gregor

  • @GregsGuitars Thank you very much Gregor!

I'm a fan of your videos and playing , so this post really made my day.

May you find something "Pre CBS" for Christmas...:-) AB

  • good god thats alot of sweet gear! excellent playin man, just found another player i can look forward to on my subscriptions XD

  • @ItsGoofyMike Thanks man! Just doin my thing...

  • what are the settings you used on the plimsoul?

  • @jaiknkayla Both gains are around 11 o'clock. Tone too. Output @ 9 o'clock.

    It's fairly loud too...averaged @ 100db.

  • Hey Andy, I wanted to see what you thought about the plimsoul, having 2 different stages of distortion in there, does it go into fuzz face territory? Thanks

  • @stratomars For the Fuzz Face tones you'll want the Catalyst. That pedal rocks hard!!!

  • Absolutely sick playing and tone...

  • @BlackAdderLXX Thanks for the Compliment!

  • Haha! I watched this again and I never noticed the broken string until now! lol perfect timing.

  • @100grapes Sorry for the late reply! Thanks...it's time was then... :-)

  • O. M. G. so much stuff!

  • Great demo Andy. Maybe a vid with a Les Paul and Plimsoul?

  • @Odiculeoj Thank you, Brother "J "!!! :-)

Mike Fuller hit a home run with this pedal... It sounded "right" with no tweaking. An amazing machine, this PlimSoul...

Also, this really shows off the Custom By Cougar amp as well...It's the best "pedal platform" amp I've played..and I've played a lot of em'!

Tommy's amps are some of the best new amps you can buy today. His amps rule!!

  • If this was a room in my house, I'd seriously just SIT in there and look at stair at everything. Nice playing! Playing the blues is hit or miss with me, sometimes I suck (most of the time) and others I'm in the zone. -S.

  • @helrazr84 Thanks for the kind words!

Sometimes, I do sit and stare at everything...with a "blank slate" in my head.

Then I get to work when the inspiration hits!

It's the same thing with playing...keep it up, and you'll find your "Zone". Keep in touch. and let us know how it's going. AB

  • Hey Andy, thx for reply! Where did you pick up your killer axe, 58's are usually ash, not alder... 6105 frets? Is it a masterbuilt?I really enjoy your playing, style, and tonefull sound.Keep em comin bro!

  • @stratomars My Bad..it is light ash...thats how it gets the mojo. And yes...jumbo frets. Custom Shop...not a masterbuilt. Thanks for the kind words. I'll be releasing more soon..stay tuned!

  • killer!!!!!!

  • @mojo75 Thanks!

  • @zepaola Agreed!

  • Wow...beautiful tone man...loved it...got me looking into the Plimsoul now..hahahaha..Cheers man !!!

  • @2020shredfest1980 Thanks a lot! ! Glad you dug it.

The PlimSoul does rock. It's a great pedal.

  • Bad ass Andy!! I see you've been leaning towards Fender lately. I haven't seen the R9 in a video for a long time! You're killer on every guitar, but you seem to play with a untamed aggression when you have the Les Paul in your hands; and I love it!

By the way, tell us what all of the Plexi heads are back there!! Are they all Superleads, or do you have a JTM also?

  • @murfdog19 Thanks man! Thanks a bunch

Sold the R9 to help launch a solo project. Worked out well, as I'm gigging a bunch now. I've got a guy making a exact replica of a Burst...but it ain't done yet.

Still got my Black Custom though. That's a killin michine!

From top to bottom- JTM45 1993 RI I had converted back to KT66 spec, 1970- 1987 50 watt Guitar Head, 1970 - 1986 50 watt Bass Guitar Head.

  • That was quite good Andy..... I will still always instantly think of 'replicants' when I see your vids though :p

  • @HedgeHogRon Thanks HHR-!

Man...you gotta watch out for the replicants!!

  • Andy nice feeeeel and tone! Is your strat ash or alder? pickups? You sound great with the cougar. Keep em comin Yeah!

  • @stratomars Thanks a bunch!! The body is Alder. MAN what a tone it has!! It rings!

  • Sounds Killer !

  • @highspl Thank you very much!

  • Woohoo very cool Andy ... thanks for posting some blues...love the broken string at the end LOL

    Cheers!

  • @stratorarious Thanks for the listen! Can't beat the blues, now can you? :-)

  • Great tone Andy. Strat and amp are a perfect match.

    Mike

  • @SIXSTRING63 Hey Mike!! Good to hear from a fellow metal dude! Thanks for the kind words. They're both keepers, for sure.

  • I just love how juicy your tone is on all your videos, are you just using the 57 on this one? i just can't get the same tone i hear when i play and i use my sm57 and i've tried almost every mic position.

Your playing and tone never seizes to amaze me!

  • @Simto Thanks man! A big part of the sound is my mic preamplifier.

    Mine is a Midas XL42.

Only Two channels, but man, what you can do with those two channels... ;-)

  • @AndyBaylor Thanks man, i'll look into that preamp, i'm pretty sure that'll have a bigger impact on the sound than getting a new ribbon mic. (Damn you digidesign for making poor preamps =( )

  • @Simto The distortion is coming from the Fulltone Plimsoul.

  • You can also listen Eddie Van Halen scream because break the little E string at final of "Let Me Out" song of "Star Fleet Project: Brian May & Friends" CD of 1983. Grand Finale !!!

  • @fernandosantucci Thanks for the post, and what a great record! I remember when that dropped...

  • Inspiring... what a pleasure to hear you my friend !!! Cheers

  • @hugohilario Thank you my friend. Always a kind word from Hugo H.

  • I know in the description it says that the backing tracks are from "Althrax" but I was unable to find them. Do you know where i can get a hold of some?

  • @dkrumrie123 I need to figure it out, as he could make coin selling these. I'll message you the info if I find it.

  • DUDE!!! that was totally Sick man!!!! such a great ending for a guys playin' the blues, haha

    Peace, ace77man

  • @ace77man Thanks mang!!! You need to come by the house for your song. I'm still down with the clown!

  • Killer, the broken string is icing on the cake.

  • @ArielsSmartyPants Thank you very much. And yes...the broken string is the icing. :-)
