Anyone know where we can get the English dub? What was it called? Was it done by Jim Terry? I read the voice actor for the main charactor was made to sound like Fonzie from the show " Happy Days " , is this true? That's a ashame if they did that. Back in those days voice acting ussually wasn't that good in English dubs. But I'd still like to find the English dub someday even though it was only a episode compilation, not the entire anime series.
I watched this when I was a kid too. I had so many toys and models of this, and I use to collect the vintage 80's Marvel comics 'Micronauts' becaue a couple of its characters were base on the Steel Jeeg armor.
This loolds like it was a kickass show, Ilve heard bothhe Jpanese and Italian versions of the tehme, and even though I;m ItalianAmerican, the Japanese souds coler
Jeeg's enemies all have gory face.. they frightening me when i was a kid... however still a nice memory... now, that i look at it again, I just noticed how bulky and unbalanced his body is... like overweight soccer player.. haha :D
hahaha, I finally found out my favourite childhood hero is called Jeeg (after almost 30 yrs)!!! I was too little (probably 4 years old) to pay attention to his name or the stories, the only thing i remember was his "fists", strong impression!!!! I agree with you, when i look at him again today, i just noticed how 'round' and bulky he looks, heheheh..... interesting
Man I like all the old Mecha Anime!especially the Old Gundams (0079-0093) And Jeeg.Hell, Im ony 1 of 6 in my Anime Club that even know about most of the old Mecha series!(Sigh)
I got like half the series in Japanese with English subs, but I gotta dig though my arcives of my DVD,VHS,and External Hard Drive collections.I got abouy 20 GB of Anime on my External HDs,Plus about 100 VHS tapes and 80 DVDs.I even think I have a few Beta tapes lying aroun somewhere,Sent me a message on my Youtube account with ur E-mail and I'll check back if I find them. Be warned, It might take 2 or 3 weeks cause of my Job and other things, but I will look!
It was used in the advertisement of a French car, if I'm not wrong. The one with the asian guy doing many silly tasks to get the right to drive the car
This is where the Micronauts originally came from, Jeeg is the original robot before "Baron Karza". If you want to watch a rip-off of some robot charactor, watch the korean anime,"Defenders of Space" on DVD for $1.08 at Wal-Mart!
http://www.collectiondx.com/node/312 Be sure to click on the trailer before you scroll down. Oh, and by the way,the show with the knockoff Mazinger Z and Combattler V is called Raiders of Galaxy. I have that on DVD too so I know which one you're talking about.
New Jeeg is good but the design is way too slim. This Jeeg is thick, bulky&massive. This give him a really powerful looks I think.

You'd be interested in Kotetsushin Jeeg. He looks more like a football player on that one.

I must say, I'll always prefer Getter and Mazinkaiser over this... but Jeeg's really grown on me.
And I will fight to the death if it means that Kaitetsushin Jeeg will be brought to the states.

The pilot is actually the head. The other parts simply attach to him.
MrEh 5 years ago
Nope, it was the other way, Baron Karza was based on Kotetsu Jeeg

Go Nagai stole the design for Jeeg from the MICRONAUTS... this is just a sad rip-off of "Baron Karza"... right down to the horse.
BennyProfane 5 years ago
Micronauts were made in 1976.
Kotetsu Jeeg aired in 1975.
FAIL.

Is that the show that features a robot that is basically a knockoff of Mazinger Z and Combattler V?
stealthscalpel 5 years ago
No, Actually it's the one with the robot called Phoenix King which is really just the G1 Transformer we know as the fire truck autobot named Inferno!
