  • that is the raddest boosh I've ever seen in my whole life....

  • When god took da day off, I had em laid off!

  • whats the beat from? Someone help me out its killing me lol

  • wow hes white

  • this is not mr lif

  • @wtp144 nvm

  • @wtp144 Yeah it is lol

  • Oh shit. I'm about to bust watching this...

  • I DIDN'T KNOW ARJ BARKER RAPPED?!

  • mr lif killlsss!!!!

  • Rap's Bob Dylan

    EDAN

  • Comment removed

  • what effect pedal does he use?

  • @suckittwins it looks and sounds like a boss dd-3

  • I've never seen anyone using an effects pedal while rapping, or backspinning while rapping either, Edan's possibly one of the greatest emcees of all time.

    Fuck the mainstream.

  • Mr. Lif loses somthing when he's not in the studio. One of the best things about him is the voice he rhymes with when hes on stage rapping louder he loses that signature Lif voice which sucks.

  • dope

  • lyrical perfection

  • i think he's one of the illest and most creative mc's of the last decade. white or not i don't give a fuck. leave that shit out of the debate too, an ill mc is an ill mc.

  • Edan's "Rehashed" flow is killing most of what's coming out these days.. bottom line, he sounds dope- and his beats are bonkers.

  • "The Caterer, the darth vader of the cross fader, you should never be afraid of the art from hard laborers."

    Simply ill.

  • @Aphesia

Too bad he ripped 2/3 of that rhyme scheme from Canibus. Canibus's was cross fader/darth vader/raw data, and I believe it did come out before Edan's For Whom the Beat Tolls -- which is excellent, btw.

  • @AllWalksofLife

*Beauty and the Beat, excuse me.

  • Sorry, but Beauty and The Beat was released over two years before Canibus' For Whom The Beat Tolls. Edan is an originator. Do your research before accusing some of ripping someone else off.

  • @RyoujokuHardcore

My mistake. He's undoubtedly an originator, especially with production. But his style is, of course, an old style rehashed. Basicallly Biz Markie and that late 80's funky rap flow. But yes, Edan is amazing.

  • yea htat line stuck out to me as well. Dope

  • YEAH! MY B.M.'s BROTHER FROM OAKLAND PUT MEON TO THIS SONG IN 2005!!! PHAT!!!!

  • edan is the bob dylan of rap

  • its a boss delay pedal.whether its the DD-3 or DD-7 i cant tell.

  • What is that effects box that Edan is using?

  • buy the record. the lyrics are included. :)

edan is one some other other sh*t. amazing album.

  • Ajs Nigrutin - Papucar

  • any body agree that he is very much like a demitri martin type person!? (i have all his albums thay are amazing)

  • greatest Jewish rapper

  • greatest Jew Fro lol

  • Is he really jewish?

  • @ScorpionHUT

first of all, who really cares.

second, he's probably a very secular jewish guy, just like a million other people. born to a jewish mother no doubt. still a fucking genius.

  • @mutedmakequiet

I just asked a simple yes or no question. I don't judge people based on religion or ethnicity, and yes, he is a lyrical genius. I had just never heard from anywhere that he was Jewish.

  • mr lif sounds damn different

  • agreed edan is the shit

  • amazin tune!

  • fuckin juicy

  • Such slick and unique production and drop dead lyrical lyrics. EDAN IS THE FUCKING SHIT 4 ALL THOSE WHO KNOW WHAT HIP HOP REALLY IS IN ITS TRUEST FORM.

  • nice hair

  • Edan kills it

  • shit - i used to think that was a wig - -

Thats actually his hair - jokes

  • shoot my television walk outdoors and explore

with the innocence of kids age four

I frolic in the sand with the colony of ants

my particles expand buildin' oxygen and plants

you cant fuck with this, EDAN is too vivid like rainbows fallin' out the sky to turn liquid

  • yo can u please tell me where to get those lyrics?

  • just by listenin to the words man. I cant find them on the web anywhere

  • can someone tell me which sample is used during mr.lif's verse?

  • Genius!

  • Huge props to Edan& Mr Lif!

  • he's fuckin crazy ill... one of my favorites

  • "My favorite color is math"

    Edan is a genius.

  • care to explain that line?

  • You want me to explain an abstract lyric? I think you may be missing the point.

  • it is THAT lyric that hooked me to hip-hop.

  • edan is a fucking genius

  • what sample is used in Mr.Lif verse?

  • Edan is a monster, Him and Jay Electronica need to get on a track together. ( If you don't know who Jay Electronica is Peep his Myspace) But, I was sleeping on Mr.Lif because I heard Edan on Lif's Get Wise '91 and felt like Edan just stole the show from Lif but after hearing Making Planets on Beauty and the Beat. I was completely blown away by Lif's verse. He simply murdered that verse. PERIOD!!!

  • No shit i've been trying to say this since i heard edan., But i guess it dosen't make sense to people who started to listen to hip hop in the 90's let alone the late 90's. Y'all missed the boat. I feel for you like chaka! But really I don't Cause it took me a lifetime to be where i'm at with hip hop mentally.

  • Why the hell isn't Edan famous? It just doesn't make sense.

Just goes to show that our planet is corrupt when people prefer someone like Eminem to Edan.

  • It's not a sign of corruption in my oppinion. Yes I think Edan is more skilled than Em, but realize this is more for the deep hip hop heads. Abstract lyrics like this dont work in the club/car/party.

  • Yeah they should though. Worked for the Mods.

  • Yeah Eminem is simply more of a conventional lyricist.

  • Edan's too clever for most people..

  • True

  • I just realized in "#1 Hit Record"

he says, "then i played pinball with Zev Love X"

    refering to MF DOOM.

  • Could you imagine a DOOM/Edan collabo?

  • that'd be unreal, i cant wait for the next doom album

  • MM.. Organic Food.

  • wat kind of pedal is that....thats pretty inovative usin a guitar pedal for rapping live. never seen that

  • its just a reverb pedal to echo the vocoals, pretty dope

  • it´s actually a digital delay pedal ..

  • edan just to dope

  • edan and lif just made a planet called "corduroy moat" !

  • Mr Lif's entrance is tight.

  • That shit is pure skill can't wait for Edan to drop some new material anyone know of anything on the horizon..

  • two MCs with crazy ass rhymes and crazy ass hair.

  • edan, keeping hip hop alive in 08,nice one!

  • yeah, so i've been listening to humble/magnificent for over a year now (found Edan by a fluke searching on Amazon)... and I wanna know why the F*CK has he not blown up yet??! does he tour around the nation?? WTF!!! dude is siiiick

  • because of the agressive nature of the big record companies and their "marketing" strategies of they mainstream shit. as dope as edan is he cant get in because his music sounds "different". everyone who listens to real music knows that alot of underground shit would blow mainstream out of the water.

  • I never would have known about Edan if he hadn't opened w/ Dhaga for Lyrics Born and Cut Chemist in Detroit and wasn't expecting much but his shit was fire! Two of the best hip-hop performances I've ever seen. Chemist was alright. Pooped on the hyped crowd. Much skill, next to no entertainment value. Oh well. So yeah, he does tour.

  • dude's got skills, for sure, but his style is kind of a golden age throwback, which, like other people mentioned, isn't really marketable. he has some sick production, though.

  • don't think he was thinkin of maketabilty when he write his raps...... it ain't like he's brittny fuckin spears or such..... saw him live.... the Best show I ever saw............

  • @ipalindromei the beauty of his style is that it brings us all back to the essence of what hip hip truly is. marketable or not, this is easily the most underrated rapper out there.

  • @ipalindromei

fuck marketable. why should an artist submit to the needs of an audience? a force thats power lies soley in numbers, usually not intelligence.

  • @ProfessaOFeensworth and @k4ncr3 I never said anything about how he SHOULD be marketable, I was just responding to how people were saying they're surprised he's not bigger/more well-known.

  • @ipalindromei

word, i was just presenting the arguement

  • @ipalindromei you posted these comments 2 years ago... and I'm sure someone has said it (or atleast they should have)... But I dont really think either one of these guys are really going for a "marketable" sound... They're into it for the sake of being into the art-form... Not money, fame, bitches, or respect... They're into it because they love it... End of story.

  • @Baxxter101 yeah, i wasn't making any kinda judgment call, like he should try to make himself more marketable or whatever. just sayin that's why a guy like him will probably never hit it big.

  • @ipalindromei yeah you're on point man. The way I see it, some incredibly skilled and talented artists like these have no desire to hit it big... They don't really want to be well known or produce a hit track. I mean if you think about it, a hit song isn't special at all; its just another consumable like a soda or a condom. People enjoy it for a minute, then they throw it away...

  • @Baxxter101 I think a lot of songs are like that, the majority in fact, but there are some classic tracks that you always return to. So they're not all consumable or expendable. Some of them last forever.

  • @ipalindromei Nigga don't give a fuck if it's marketable. Even if nobody bought any of his masterpieces he'd still be throwing down.

  • @Ievolovel the thing is everybody wants to be making a living out of what they love. I'm pretty sure he'd love to live off rap rather then pick up a deskjob.

  • @ipalindromei its the best style mah bro!

  • @ipalindromei Nigga, if you listen to THE HUMBLE MAGNIFICENT you would understand he isn't golden age, but he has "the knowledge of the past" and he has built on it. The golden age is only the foundation.

It's people like you that make him out to not be... as you say... "marketable".

You must excuse me... gonna go tag my name on the sun.

  • yeah, so i've been listening to humble/magnificent for over a year now (found Edan by a fluke searching on Amazon)... and I wanna know why the F*CK has he not blown up yet??! does he tour around the nation?? WTF!!! dude is siiiick

  • did he say "waddup austin?" was this sxsw?

  • i think he said boston

  • haha yeah it kinda says it at the beginning...

  • I think he said Boston, since the user is bostonbeatsandrhymes.

  • One of the best MCs out there today.

Looking forward to some new material.

  • im just mad because i could have been there but didnt know about it.

  • thats EXACTLY what im thinking...BOOOOOSTOOOOOON fa life!

  • edan and boston b-boys are ill! Mainstream hip hop needs to take notes on dudes like this cat...sick man, pure sickness...This is how hip hop was meant to progress!

  • He should have someone doing the effects for him....that would make the show more of "a show"...regardless, it's real hip hop and that's all that matters. Hip Hop > Rap.

  • why would it be better if someone else was doing it for him? part of edan's thing is that he produces, dj's, and raps for all his songs

  • I know he does, but you don't see him producing or dj'ing while he's rapping on stage do you? It takes away from the one on "oneness" with the crowd when he's busy fiddling with a handheld effects box on stage while he should be mc'ing.

  • You act like he's having trouble doing both at once.

  • He actually does do one song live where he's dj'ing/producing while he raps...lol.

  • I've seen Edan live 3 times and thats never happened. Unless you're talking about when he deejayed for Insight, which isnt what I'm talking about. Regardless, it still takes away from the "one on oneness" with the crowd when you're not giving them your full attention.

  • Edan Mrlif reppin the bean

  • BOB DYLAN?

  • YEAH, like a 65' or 66' Dylan flowin'. If you know of Dylan's work, he actually did some flowin' in the early days. Even before he went electric, check out "It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" for starters.

  • u didnt know edan was white therees tons of white underground rappers i bet u didnt know were white then

  • yeah first time i heard edan i thought he was black, turns out i find a picture of him and realize that bob dylan is spittin' bars!

  • I like how this Edan character is a white person, but he doesn't sound like a white person when he rhymes. He doesn't have that annoying sound to his voice a lot of white rappers do.

  • Agreed, killa flow for a white boy

  • oooops - damn, i had the wrong finger???

    my man got class perhaps?

  • ha....go on

  • at 25 seconds in, my man eddannnn gives homeboy in the first row a pound, and this dude proceeds to give e the finger? straight up classLESS. if i see this dude's ugly finger around boston i'm gonna sneeze on it. word em up.

  • Wrong, it is his pointer finger.

  • I'ts Ridiculous how sick this clip is.

    sweet UL--> "bostonbeatsandrhymes"

  • edan is the shit. i live right by boston, how come i never hear of him coming around? i would LOVE to see him live sometime.

  • Dude he lives in Boston. He shops at Whole Foods on Westland behind Mass Ave. Cool dude.

  • believe it or not - my name is edan
