  • This is an entirely unfaithful and inaccurate adaptation of Incandenza's (Wallace's) vision. The synopsized screenplay was already abstract and surreal enough. Further obscuring the subject matter in the transition from page to screen is as sensible as dancing about architecture, as they say.

  • read it again!

  • Pointless

  • You'll understand the point better if you try doing somersaults with one hand nailed to the floor.

  • Thank you so much, I'm glad these are being made. It would be great to see more.

  • Ah, yup, just found it. The line is at the bottom of pg. 900 : )

  • Thanks for the response.

    He sat up.

An alarm clock blinking in LED red what all alarm clocks blink when they're blinking. An orange juice container only 1/4 full with urine. Rinds of oranges lying near and not so near to the unorthodox piss receptacle. Light banging on the closed blinds at irregular intervals. Must be cloudy today. I bet it's like 11 A.M. It better fucking be at least 11 A.M.

  • Is "Good-Looking Men In Small Clever Rooms That Utilize Every Centimeter Of

Available Space With Mind-Boggling Efficiency" a quote from Infinite Jest? It strikes me as odd because Wallace considered "utilize" a puff-word and claimed to eschew its employment. I guess it would make sense if he was trying to characterize James as pretentious, but this isn't the impression I got of James in the book.

  • @CantBlockProxies I think his major issue with "utilize" was that most of the time it's not used correctly, assuming you're referring to his rant against genteelisms. In the quote, I think it's kosher.
