When her first album came out, i was instantly hooked to her voice.
After that i bought her albums till music box.In a strange mood i bought Butterfly, which also contains a few good songs,but the music was so R&B related what i do regret.There was first a classy woman, singing so pure, with a slightly jazzy/ blues voice! And i think that through the years the circus around her gave her a cheaper character. Her voice is too good for that music, but no offence to R&B music. Still i love her voice

The original definition of R&B reads Rhythm and Blues. And that's exactly what it is. Soul is R&B, Gospel and Doo-wop. Mariah's first 2 album contained most Soul and R&B by its true definition. After it was Hip Hop/Pop mixture; Hip Pop.
Contemporary R&B moved away from its original format in the 1990's. Most stuff passed for commercial R&B is no longer R&B. It's Hip Pop. A devoid genre of music basically anyone can create, which would be the whole point.

My God, this girl was gifted!.......it doesn't take any great amount of thought to comprehend how she took the music world by storm. "Vanishing" was another slice of musical "Heaven" off Mariahs' magnificent debut album that should have clued the world of what was to follow, and just how BRILLIANTLY talented this woman truly is. 2 decades later, Mariah continues to bless the world with the wonderful "gift" that God bestowed upon her. She's truly earned her place as one of the absolute greatest female vocalists of ANY generation! I admire & respect her greatly.

When her first album came out, i was instantly hooked to her voice.
After that i bought her albums till music box.In a strange mood i bought Butterfly, which also contains a few good songs,but the music was so R&B related what i do regret.There was first a classy woman, singing so pure, with a slightly jazzy/ blues voice! And i think that through the years the circus around her gave her a cheaper character. Her voice is too good for that music, but no offence to R&B music. Still i love her voice

The original definition of R&B reads Rhythm and Blues. And that's exactly what it is. Soul is R&B, Gospel and Doo-wop. Mariah's first 2 album contained most Soul and R&B by its true definition. After it was Hip Hop/Pop mixture; Hip Pop.
Contemporary R&B moved away from its original format in the 1990's. Most stuff passed for commercial R&B is no longer R&B. It's Hip Pop. A devoid genre of music basically anyone can create, which would be the whole point.
