  • love the noise! especially the barks when it changes down :D bring back can-am!

  • Cool to see the actuation lever for the carbs, on off on off :o) Awesome sound

  • Who needs double clutching?

Just press the clutch, put it out of gear, blip the throttle to match lower gear rpm and change down, release clutch.

We europeans only know double clutching from very old trucks, never heard one had to use it in a road going car or even a race car

  • Is that true that one don't need to use double clutch heel & toe to downshift in canam cars like this mc laren ?

  • U can manage clutchless downchanges in any race transmission with dog-clutches. U do need to have pretty good skill because U have to use the throttle to "unload" the engaged gears & then blip it while in neutral to match the engine revs to the lower gear U're going into. U can manhandle them but the dog clutches suffer & it's a little hard on the rest of the trans line too. Today's boxes often incorporate an ignition chopper to cut the ingition for a fraction of a second to aid disengagement.

  • @gcmc2 : thnx 4 your answer

  • Engineering at the edge. I love Can Am.

We need to bring it back, and updated, unlimited. F1 is a bore with the safety and weeniness...

    These cars were not safe.

  • who needs viagra when you can drive one of these!

  • awsome sound

  • Probably needs to listen to a V12 Ferrari, '94-'95 vintage. The sweetest sound. But as an American, you're right, there's no comparison to a pushrod V8.

  • You cant beat a v8 thats what i tell Jamie my son and he is only 10yrs old but he says what about a v16 BRM. I have no answer really .What do you think ?

  • double clutch heel toe downshifts must be ridiculous in that thing

  • awesome, I would pay to be a passenger once during my life in one of those monsters

  • was that a Sunbeam Tigre he passed?

  • yup

  • Passengers have to sit on the left front fender?

  • No, that's ridiculous. They can also sit on the rear spoiler.

  • Blast from the past with unlimited sports car racing- some Chevy v-8s could generate 700 hp, and the Turbo 917 Porsche that eventually killed the series would RACE with over 1000bhp. Days of long ago---
