Sorry but no. The ip addresses you're getting are all from every application thats connected to and on your computer. The IP address you receive from netstat wouldn't be the IP of the person you're talking to it would be the ip address of the AIM application connected to your computer | Because you don't own the shell/server you're talking on so you can't use netstat or even sniff packets to get their ip. BECAUSE they're not on ur network/shell.

also you're saying that for file transfer, no direct connection is made? for chatting that would makes sense (isn't true for skype as an example), but file transfer is a totally different story.

A static IP adress is something that stays the same no matter what..

If you want to read futher about IP adresses just google it and you'll see that IP adresses ONLY changes when they are assigned automatically. They do NOT change if a computer is setup to have the same IP adress at all times.

This means They can change if they are Dynamic, But not if they are Static.

I have done this on myspace IM b4 the problem is with myspace IM is you can only send picture files and picture files are always pretty small , so once they accept, you have about a 2-6 seconds window to trace this But I converted a file that was 54mb into a jpg then sent it .altho the last few times i have tried this it has failed. I think it goes strait to myspace server then myspace server sends it to them so no direct connection to them is ever established

netstat -b must open your command prompt as admin to do this command , netstat -b will name yahooIMexe and the IP next to it works for myspace IM also
