  • The most important issue in the whole suffragette campaign, was not simply getting th vote, but that we were not considered legally human beings. Men were, no matter which class they were from. . Some men could still vote, but all men had rights in their homes and communities. Women did not have any rights, but by getting the vote, we were automatically made legal persons, and not simply chattel which were part of marriage property, to be given away to any man, or the church.

  • @SuperMischa123 That's right. A woman was not recognised by law as a 'person'.

  • Where did you get these clips?? We're making a short movie about the suffragettes, and it would really help !!

  • It is forgotten that many men did not have the vote either. Some facts:-

Reform Act 1832:- Resulted in 15% of males having the vote.

Representation of the People Act 1884:- Increased suffrage but still 40% of males still could not vote.

Representation of the People Act 1918:- Universal suffrage for males over 21 females over 30.

Representation of the People Act 1928 - Universal suffrage all over 21.

In photos the policemen arresting the suffragettes did not have the vote either.

  • @richardsbrandonuca

god guy- you posted this on every WOMENS SUFFRAGE vid- these are about the women who fought for our rights- knock it off- i can go on on the tortures women were put through in history- head gears with spikes that covered their tongues- also used to humiliate in public on leashes, men could be unfaithful with their wives but if a woman was - also when married women's property became the mans- education was limited- i do classical figure- women didnt get that till late 1800's

  • @art4thecure1 And what is your point? Surely educating people about the true nature of history is a good thing? Others obviously think so judging by the ratings the post gets.

Before ranting on about the suffering about women the life of the average man is not that great either. Last time I check over 40 Million were forced into war and killed in the 20th century. Large numbers couldn't vote till 1918 in the UK, long hours in backing soul destroying jobs breaking jobs, shorter lives etc etc etc

  • What movie is this from? Please

  • Good video

  • It changed nothing, world war 1 got women the vote in the end.

  • @MonteguTigg

Umm, your comment (the establishement version) is just so wrong ... women's ww1 work would never have got us the vote had it not been for context provided by the suffragettes. The protest and direct action they took was central.

  • lol i love emelene pankhurst she's a crazy bitch who is awesummmmmmmmmmm
