nice work flux....I just spearheaded making my Omni Hotel "Green" we are using ONLY post consumer biogradeble paper product and donating our used fryer oil for biodiesel conversion.
Bio-fuels may not be the greatest, but they are definitely a start on the road to better and more effective research. We have to wean ourselves off of this dependence to oil we suffer from, one way or another...
Solar panals though, are they efficient? I always wonder because companies always try to sell them for people to put them on their house tops. I wonder though how much energy and petroleum and pollution goes into manufacturing and transporting and servicing those solar panals. I wonder if those panals are even efficient enough to recoup the energy needed to make them. Sometimes I wonder if solar panals is just money making for the companies that make them.
Stop wondering and start reading. Energy is needed to save long term costs. If your concerned about how much energy is being used, consider this; The United States government uses 65% of the energy we use.
I don't believe the literature of the solar panal companies so what's the point of reading it? As far as I can see the solar panals never actually make back the energy used to create them before they start to degrade and need servicing, servicing, servicing - and how much energy and money go into that servicing? The word "con" comes to mind.
Solar will always be cheep compared to Nuke Energy! So, if you want to do something about the high cost of energy, go solar house lights, stereos, alone and you would prevent another nuke plant from being built.
But they make the solar panals using energy from nuclear power plants. Or they use already collected and refined oil they got from the Persian Gulf to bring back more oil from the Persian Gulf to be refined before being burned in our power plants. Oh, and they use some of that same oil to fight the wars there to get that oil. They use that same oil or nuclear to transport that energy and to upkeep those power lines they used to make the solar panals with. And of course it goes around and around.
Your talking in circles to prove what. They don't have to make solar panels with Nuclear. If everyone used more solar and if government invested money into more research on solar rather than nuclear, solar would become cheaper to make. If we just stopped using the military to shape our economy we would all be better off.
Example, in UK, if I bought solar panals for my house I'd be the only one on my estate with them. These panals would be made from metal, glass and other materials manufactured either in the UK or abroad using power from nuclear, petrol, gas or coal powered energy plants. They would be erected by a company running petrol engines, and running it's company buildings on conventional energy. And on top of that, it would take me years, if indeed ever, to totally reimburse that energy.
I'm saying there is a false economy here when the energy used in the manufacture, transport and fitting of these panals is compared to energy later produced from them. At the moment, these panals are still expensive and also not reliable in the long run, when they start to produce less free energy and when they require more and more expensive servicing then will need upgrading for new ones. I'm not against your goals, I just don't think they weigh up with current technology.
I have been following this stuff since the Embargo of the Early '70s. The facts are that PVs do pay their way if one sticks to apples to apples comparisons, not comparing apples to oranges. You are not seeing the real con artists.
My view is that it's inefficient to put up solar panels / wind turbines on each roof - because of the hardware costs, and these are not that efficient. But to save energy in the home with insulation, energy saving options, etc, is efficient and effective. Solar panels and wind turbines seem best to be used at the moment by new households, or by companies, or even by local communities en mass, but not by already exiting households already on the electric grid.
Now, if these people ran the USA then the world would be a better place. Unfortunately the USA and most other States are not run by people like this but instead by people who are out to fit into the present system and make a lot of money for themselves at any cost.
I hear that bio fuel is bad 4 the enviroment as land is cleared so that people can plant the crop that is used in bio fuel. I want free energy. Magnets, Zero point, Perpetual motion, Solar pannels. Bio fuel is like the morphine of petrol heads.
Bio Liberty collects WASTE VEGETABLE OIL FROM RESTAURANT GREASE TRAPS and turns that into fuel. NO additional plants were harmed in the production of the fuel. What you're hearing IS true for those who make ethanol out of corn instead of making food out of corn... but this is much different.
LOL; Bio Lib. is using wast veggie oil from the fryers, not the grease traps, I'm certain Grease traps are nasty, many would choose to walk, rather mess with grease traps :)
Grease traps are not suitable for BIO Diesel. However it can be used to create feed for animals, and fuel for heating. Bio Liberty dose not use grease trap oil but we get dirty enough getting the grease out of the French Quarter.
Yes done stupidly biofuel could be bad for the planet. Biofuel doesn't have to be anymore harmful than the non-food refined products already made from Ag. production. Perpetual motion, the never to exist morphine of the clueless? I know that wasn't nice, but I'll hit post anyway
A perpetual motion machine was made in England and was due to be developed by nasa, if you belive the Daily Mail news paper. I have friends who make biofuel. How much waste vegetable oil would you need 4 a biofuel industry ?
Then write your friends, government reps, the press, indy-press,and political and peace and veteran organizations to look at the video. If Youtube can be used for good works then its up to the viewer to support by forwarding the information at the very least more people will see it and maybe add their opinions and spend a little time to share it again. If the work is needed and we can get the attention and resources needed for veterans.
