kay i am turning 15 really soon, i plan to buy the canon rebel xt and this kid looks 10. he knows more about cameras than i do and i am a major camera freak,... or so i thought. XS
People who buy a DSLR and only shoot in the auto modes are wasting their money. The whole point of buying a DSLR is to have that adjustability. If you don't understand this concept, you might as well buy a point and shoot camera. As for you Will, I think you should learn a little more about manual mode before you try and teach others.
rchelifreak, the whole point of being a human being is to teach others and take care of others. So he's teaching people what he knows. That's what he's supposed to do as a human being, even if he doesnt know much.
Hey, I just got my rebel xti with a sigma lens a couple months ago and love it but always have trouble with focal points. The tip about the ftp and different modes will help in future shooting. Keep up the great reviews!
Great video. just bought this camera with the canon 18-55mm IS lens and the 50mm f/1.8 II lens. Can you explain what settings you used for the pictures you posted at the end of this video? Thanks, Rob.
Auto only lets you shoot in JPEG, doesn't let you shoot more than one picture at a time, and doesn't let you change any settings.
P automatically sets F-stop and shutter speed but lets you shoot in RAW, shoot picture sequences and change other settings like ISO and WB.
A-DEP tries to find the objects in the foreground and adjust the aperture so that the foreground is in focus while the background is blurred. Supposedly used for group portraits.
Will, keep up the good work on making your videos. Listen to some of the recomendations to improve your videos and keep pressing ahead. I can tell there are a lot experts commenting and they have made a lot of good demo videos also I bet. Always good to see a young person that is interested in his hobby and willing telling to others about it. We all make mistakes and we learn from them. Keep up making videos.
Hey man thanks for making these videos. Despite what everyone says about you, keep up the good work. One complaint.... Before you make the video just sit down and right down everything you want to talk about and almost everything your going to say. You say uh a lot and its understandable because your just making up what your going to say. everyone does it man. No worries. And I got some good advice from your vids.
i agree with guy1193 im a 13 year old photographer, They are good videos i find them entertaining and slightly educating but i think he needs to get his fact right and have a decent script, of which he can follow to give the whole thing structure. However he needs to review something else.
OMG HAHAHAHAHA lol he has his name on the bottom hahahahahahahaha LOL LOL poor little baby might lose his camera. HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Markthecameraguy You're being really mean to this kid! 1st, He has the guts to make a video, and 2nd he has the guts to stand up to a BULLY like you. Now its nice to here a kid talk instead of a grownup because kids tend to make things simpler. Hahaha and I'm only 14 but Mark you seriously need to LEAVE this comment page, because people don't have the fricken Time to waste reading your Rude comments. Anyways thanks for the video! I'm hoping to get one for Christmas!! See ya!
I am also 14, but not stupid. I like to see younger people talking about things on youtube too, but only kids that know about things. This kid is telling us nothing. I was going to start making videos on youtube about cameras too, and the I went on a real site written buy a guy who actually knew something and then i stopped.
Markthecameraguy wasn't bulleing this kid, he was opening his eyes. This just plain doesn't know enough correct information to actually make videos on youtube. And it doesn't take any courage to post a video on youtube or argue with someone on a comment thread.
I agree some people are being kind of mean to this kid but he just doesn't yet understand that you actually have to know how to make videos, write a legitimate review of a lens, write a script for his videos, and he even has many of his facts wrong!
um...spoiled much? first he gets a wicked nice camera and now he's expecting to get a macbook in a few months. And he's um 12? His parents brought this upon themselves.
Also what he said about the f-stop is wrong. The shutter speed and f-stop do not effect each other at all. A really small aperture( about 32) only extends your depth of field a few feet than a wide open f-stop of about 1.8.
first off i'm 15...and im not really spoiled, I had to buy both of them with my own money... saved for 1and half years for camera and i've been saving for 1 and a half years for my computer...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
well, then you are stupid, why would you even buy a toy camera like a rebel...at least go with pentax or nikon...also yourF/ theorry is wrong. Also, i suggest to every viewer liste n to me, always shoot in Aperture priority or manual, forget about shutter speed, you'll never need it...really. and honnestly will, don't buy a macbook, go for a el-chepo laptop, it'll do the job. With the money go buy some lenses and some know-how
You are completely wrong. Tv mode is extremely important if you are doing sports, and especially if you want to get those really interesting panning shots with the nice, blurred backgrounds. Also, the Rebel XTi is not a "toy camera," and I don't even understand why you would even call it so.
ok, i'm going to say this as nice as possible becasue your like 12-14. you do not know nearly enough to be making techreviews. And you are certanly not a guru. You need to actually research you stuff before making videos that people think are correct because you call yourself a guru. i didn't learn anything more from this review than i already knew about my camera. look at a guy named rick sammon. he is a pro photographer and really knows his shit.
I bought an XTi because I'm an amateur photographer, and I got sick of trying to do anything creative with a "consumer" camera.
But recently, it got me a job at a motorcycle dealership. They sell used bike's and equipment on their website, and need good photo's of their stock. So, I guess that makes me a professional photographer now?
i know what you mean! its so unfair after 2 years of saving up, i finaly got a Rebel XT, i find out that this kid at my school has the same camera because he went through a phase for about a week. life is so unfair
A-DEP selects the lowest possible shutter speed, and therefor the smallest aperture (Biggest F-Stop). The smaller the aperture, the greater your depth of field. So basically, A-DEP makes maximum depth of field it's priority.
Lithium bateries don't like to be fully discharged and recharged. You should recharge you batteries when they are 40% empty, which is before the second battery section goes off
These buttons right here...the more advanced buttons.... psst! they are program-priority, shutter-priority, manual-priority, Tungsten priority, and aperture depth of field
nice job, but i bet ur reading the manual when you are doing this. hah, i would be too. I went to the camera store today and got a cheat sheet for all that stuff. And tomorrow im going to go get my filter tomorrow at my local camera store's blowout sale. Im pretty excited, 98 years of camera stuffs, and they have lots of lenses and filters and light reflectors, ect. WHat part of the US are you from?

fromshadowlands 4 years ago 3
you are totally wrong.
M = manual mode and you can change EVERYTHING
Av = appeture piority and you can change the f number and the camera will detect the shutter speed
Tv = shutter priority and you choose the shutter speed and the camera detcts the appeture and the rest of the settings
P = program its just like auto but you can change things and the camera will adjust
