As far as I'm concerned (and I should know!) this monster machine is not an NSX. The NSX was a super refined sports car engineered for the track. It was the perfect balance of great styling, maneuverability, and acceleration. This thing is NOT an NSX. It would be a cool car on it's own without having to use the name NSX.
I agree, the old NSX was Mid Engine Rear Wheel Drive, V6; I may consider it a real successor if it had a V8...well none the less it's going to be an amazing car. But yeah they didn't need to call an NSX because the principles in this car is so out there, its just not the same spirit.
you are all supid jackasses that are forgetting what honda is all about. They dont try and compete with american cars that trow in V8's to make a lot of power. The initial design for the nsx was a 3.0 liter V10 F1 enspired motor. if they do too much to the car and start adding turbos they will lose focus as a company they want to show everyone that they can make a V10 motor with room to improve thus adding your own mods. This car will be a one of the best motors honda has designed.
Just cuz its a V10 doesn't mean it'll make good torque. Lambo's and Ferrari's make as much horsepower as Corvette's, but they don't make anywhere close to the same amount of torque. You can squeeze a lot of horsepower out of a small engine, but you can't force torque out. Well, naturally aspirated anyway.
Not gunning towards the Aston Martin. They said they are targeting the Nissan GT-R. Recently in prototype they tested it at Nurburging and it got a 7:37. The Honda CEO made it mandatory to beat the Nissan GT-R's time of 7:29, and I think I heard that he wanted it beat by 8 seconds?
the design here is also uncharacteristic of honda its to exaderated, honda will tone it down and make it more conservative just like all honda cars are and the previous nsx, if the nsx did come out as this video says Id be disapointed cus the old nsx was a masterpeice!
this design and engine type is not consistant with other honda products, I dont think there is enough data to make these speculations, these speculations seem like made up nonsense, honda wont put out a v-10, hondas all about milking tiny engines for all the power they can make plus its not environmentally friendly and this company is all about effeciency they are after all realeasing there hydrogen car this company would not fool with v-10s!
This animation is not the real one...look at 1:40min of this video...How about that AUDI SIMBOLS in front of this car?
I mean, I liked the idea of talking about the new NSX but this is not the New NSX model, look for some pics and you'll see the diference of both models.
Remember buying Honda is a way of life...just ask Ayrton Senna who was powered to all of his 3 world championship F1 crowns by their V6(thats the blueprint engine in the NSX by the way) and the reason why many of us dont ask how much...simply when can I have one.
If the new NSX comes out looking like this rather than any of the super nice concepts then Honda deserves to continue to get its but kicked by EVERYONE. Seriously, why did they trash the MR design, that was the ONLY reason anyone would EVER buy an NSX over a Z06 or sub 120k euro sports car! Why can't those stupid mnfr's figure out EVERYONE WANTS A 2 dr. MR AWD Car that's NOT A PORSCHE for 120K+
There was a design i saw that looks like the previous NSX's but more modern...kind of like a corvette or ferrari got together with an nsx and made a kid. So sad that they scrapped it and desided to redo the whole car with an FR lay out :p bring back the MR layout.
Good question. Seems like once the competition got heavy, they ran away. I remember when they used to be dominant in F-1 and how they used that technology in their car (a la NSX). But rather than putting emphasis on performance, they look to dependable eco-friendly vehicles that lacked soul. Besides the s2k, Honda is no longer what it once was.
Why try to gun for the astin with a design that looks exactly alike it, if you want to beat the astin beat it with the old body style NSX, the old design will give it value and will definetley look better. keep the old body look with the new engine and technology!!
Very ugly design, nothing really sets it apart from a 2-door 'sedan'. It should not look that dull and boring if it's going to have that kind of performance. The original NSX at least looked exotic, not mundane, pudgy, and common like this new style. But I did hear they've scrapped this design and are redesigning it entirely based on very negative feedback at a recent auto show. Keep it sharp and exotic looking, imho.
I heard that the top dogs in Acura did not like the design of the new style because it has no resemblance to the older style. I do agree with you guys the older model rules. I have a 94 legend coupe with 6 speed manual transmission and i tell you it is a joy to drive that car. I cannot emagine driving a NSX.
I hate the bulky looks of the newer Honda/Acuras. If the top dogs dislike the design, why are they still going through with this design? I read somewhere they're testing a mid-engine chassis, as well, for comparison.
yeahhh, this sketch of what the nsx may look like has no resemblances to the old one. but the acura advanced sports car concept really has some resemblances to the old nsx.
ehhh, v10, honda finally go big ^^

Gallardo has 560 bhp out of 5.2 V10 so what? Honda big deal? I think not.
sspope 2 years ago 2
ive heard its making 600//.
i woudnlt be surprised, afterall that 2.0 s200 was making 200bhp
Besides you have to understand, lambo has been developing v-10's forever. honda has aswell but for and indy car... buttface

they cancled the program. if they revive they have to make it mid engined. the hsc concept was a good example of what the nsx is, not that thing.

they need to make a proper 450hp 5L v8 now
alexkvaskov 3 years ago
not disagreeing with you, but honda's small displacement engines don't have that much power
their v6's are hella sweet
possibly the best mainstream v6s
alexkvaskov 3 years ago
i think honda should ideally target the ferrari f-430 on this one
the f430 has a 4.3L v8 that puts out almost 500 hp and almost 400 lb.ft. of torque
would be nice if honda made a 5L v8 that could put out 500hp, instead of having to make a v10

imagine if the v10 is over 6 liters

Rumored 18,000 rpm redline? Greeeeeat...that means it'll make 500 horsepower at 16,000 rpm and 205 ft-lbs of torque at 10,000 rpm...
wasp010 3 years ago
Dude, no car can rev up to 18k
the previous NSX had a 8-9k redline
but with a new v10, it's hard to say what redline it will have
but the v10 should make a LOT of torque
alexkvaskov 3 years ago

wasp010 3 years ago
Hopefully it'll make good torque - nothing wrong in hoping
But I agree with you
the 6L V8 in the Vette has 600something hp
and about the same torque
the Lambo Murcielago has a 6.5L V12 that produces 640 hp and 450ish torques
alexkvaskov 3 years ago
Well no you're wrong dude
Explain to me how a 6.3L Corvette V8 make the same power as a 6.5L Lambo V12 but about 150-200 torques more

True! The V8 Vantage is childsplay for this NSX. Even a base model corvette leaves the Vantage in the dust! Honda is definitely gunning higher!

why the engine design isn't consistant with other Honda ?
You doesn't think there is enough data ?
The V10 is a great part of the Honda réputation. The V10 3.5 spec 89/90/91 are not tiny... A V10 spec 2006 is at 19500 RPM, they have the data !!!!!
Its an historic choice, the best V10 of his time who powered the triple world champion Senna, the legend. for me its a great memory act...
You have a very good car culture, but i don't understand your vision ?

And for the next NSX, why could'nt they design something similar to Mazda's Furai Concept? That has to be the most beautiful car ever designed!
RobbieRottenZombie 4 years ago
The newer renditions of old japanese super cars feel like they're losing their original character, like the new GT-R and this new NSX.
It kinda sucks, but this is Japan's way of trying to beat up on European cars with their technological wizardry and ugly yet functional designs.
