I can provide legitimate proof that it was... The KKK was originally founded in 1866 to combat the Freeman's Bureau and the first reconstruction act (designed to help Black people), in Tennessee. A year later a general organization of the local Klans was established in Nashville. The Confederate Army was ALWAYS outnumbered, out-gunned, had less money,therefore, less food, supplies and ammunition. They won more battles than the North, the Southerners just ran out of people. They were fighting for their homes and against the invaders of the north forcing unnecessary taxes on stuff they produced that southerners needed. They were more successful than the north in my opinion. And A HELL OF A LOT TOUGHER! The south was also home to some of the most brilliant military minds.

He is not saying that Forrest was a great man, he was just stating that he was a successful military General, and what the man said about "Winning and victory and the means to do so", quoted to emphasize congresses lack of attention to detail of US Soldiers and support to them.
