song basically is a dialogue between the male and female leads and praise for Lord Shiva ( the destroyer in the holy trinity of hindu mythology).

Main lines: Male asks: tell me lady tell me who is your mate? Who is the one whom you have given your love? tell me lady tell me who is your mate?

Female replies: (surprised )You don't know his name, every morning every night, world takes his name. You tell me, You tell me who is my mate?

1st stanza

Male: Who is the most different in the world? Give me a clue lady?

Female: Clue is that he is very innocent, he has snakes around his neck as necklace

Male: The one who has many different faces  either shadow or light , Is he your mate or a person with many faces ( the exact word i cannot get, but the tone of this word is to signify lord shiva as a trickster or cheat )

Female: His heart is a temple, his soul is the priest (repeats)

Male: Neither a horse nor an elephant, he rides a bull (chorus repeats)

Female: He is the ascetic living on Mount Kailash

Female: He is a beggar, who accepts prayer and in lieu gives Moksha (liberation) to the world

I looooooooove this song! Such a gem! Amazing rendition by the KING and QUEEN of playback, Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar.

"Milan" was a fantastic film by one of India's greatest and one of my personal favorite actors, Sunil Dutt, and the lovely and beautiful Nutan. A film based on reincarnation and past beliefs, memories. Great film and an awesome song!
