@jazzjuengling Ovation guitars have a so called "curve-back" which, is pretty much a plastic bowl, instead of a cornered wooden body. This gives it that smooth sound.

@jazzjuengling That's because he's playing an Ovation - the most overrated of all acoustic guitars. My first guitar was an Ovation, and they were the latest thing in the 80's, because the action on them was so easy. But, it does sound plastic, and for a very good reason, the entire back side of the thing, the bowl, is made ... of plastic! That's what gives it such a sterile, cold timbre.

John Mc Laughlin taught me that by breathing deep while speed picking like Al makes it effortless. That is granted you are well versed in scales,modes,and etc. This is one of the best performances ever!!!!!!!
