  • 99% of all that Detroit iron have Russian tractor diesel, truck or even helicopter ! motors under the hood. If you're an old car nut you can clearly hear the difference when viewing Havana traffic vids. The rest are either Ladas - lots of Ladas in Cuba ! - and the newer cars are either rentals or of course, gvmnt MININT honchos.

My uncle in Holguin dropped a compact Chechoslovaquian bus diesel motor in his '52 Buick Special.

  • Am I in Africa or 90 miles from Key West? This country is crap.

  • some day you could go buy classic cars in cuba :P

  • 3:38 would have been nice if it said coca cola

  • can somebody explain me what is with these cars from the 50s, I mean what happened there, the government did not allow them to buy any new ones or what?

  • @NerAzzurrino when castro took place in government and established a communist state all imports from western countries where banned,i mean everything, so if youre looking for a new car in cuba it will come from the former USSR or China, a lot of the old american cars have engines from these countries simply because there are no parts from the USA, but because of the climate and i guess love of the models people kept them running

  • @rudolf68 thank you for your explanation

  • beautiful country, beautiful people, beautiful cars, government sucks, you can blame the USA for the last part......embargo my _____ a post pardom colony that didn't work out so the USA shut them down

  • Ill take all of them any day over these modern plastic electronic injected pieces of garbage theyre scheming now for consumer profit!

  • Cool !

  • Besides United States no other country than Cuba, i tell you these old american cars has survived by thousands all over the island.

  • Maravillosos; un verdadero milagro que sigan circulando, todo un monumento al ingenio, la creatividad y la capacidad de subsistencia del pueblo cubano.

  • I admire your efforts to preserve these practical gem cars for the poor workers of the world to follow! They are trying to rid all the vintage cars here to support the corrupt capitalist machine with new electronic disposable pieces of garbage to take all incomes from the hardworking Latino money here to circulate them into the monopoly banks. After 5 years these new plastic, compact unsafe cars fall apart with little hope so Im keeping my old cars. Gracias hermano y Viva Cuba en todo el mundo

  • Carros Viejos son mejor!

  • Chan Chan by the Buena Vista Social Club

  • thanks greekmaria!

  • De Alto Cedro voy para Marcané

Llego a Cueto voy para Mayarí

  • Simply NICE! - Both cars and music.

  • You know us Western people can learn a lot of things from the Cuban Ian knowledge. Yes I would like to live there but we can't stay... after 6 mounts we most go... No for now it stays a dream. By the way, the President receives a lot of problems but Mister 'Fidel. Castro' did a nice job!

  • Luc: You must be kidding!

  • No CubaLib... I don't ... people think alway's that money and luxery give happyness. You know we have everything and not happy.. we have a handfull friends... we work to hard... for what... we don't know the neighbour well etc... I need love and understanding... the sun and my coffee.. the perfume of flower... the nice music that i hear here and more as your positivisme... Be busy and you forget the problems.. that love and much simplisme make you- us rich... yes i'm not from this world i guess

  • Great but it's hard to find a cuban thinking the same about their nice country after the mess Fidel left. Have you ever been hospitalized during your stay? Ever looked for a job? Cubans are wonderful people and they did not deserve all that shit.

  • Yes, well I talk for myself -- OK - much people look with your eye I guess... I look with other eye... the Western eye, I see that every child have health service and more positive. Let me say this: I can't going in discussion because I'm limited, I don't know enough but what I know is when Fidel Castro and the regime is gone that much people goanna regret this can't of life... the grass is always greener on the other side...

  • the point is to handle the reality of life psychological and what the human race really needs. This regret is not a new situation... it is a story of years, so I understand very well what is going on today and in that case I understand your statement.

    Luc

  • @Lucmeagain - Beautifully said Lucmeagain! I couldn't agree more. It's too bad more people can't open their eyes and see (& think) for themselves.

  • Cuba..., the music is famous; some are nice but generally not my thing. The way of life is what I think very special and attractive, for me is not money but be busy, repair cars, radio's, computers maybe and more interested. The way of life... it is not commercial and behind the capital lives the Cuban Ian closes and works with the nature in combination whit what we know today.

  • Had Fidel not taken over, you would

see "new" rolls royces and mercedes instead

of this. There would be new Casinos that

would be in place of the old colonial

buildings. McDs fast food chains all over the

island. At least Fidel got rid of Bautista and the most corrupt government in power before he took over.
