  • build srts, just make them not as loud

  • Stfu faggot

  • Fag

  • jackiechan511 clearly your the 1 who needs to do some research. Rob ford wasn't going to run subways on the srt tracks he wants to replace it with a subway that would follow the same route fucking retard

  • @fhghggofg Why build subways. srt were good. A reasonable replacement must be found. No long subway train. Why reconstruct. Furthermore, our subway trains cannot handle such swift and acute turns.

  • Ford wants to replace it wit hBD line, not run subway trains on the RT

  • AHH MAYOR FORD, JUST KEEP THE SCARBOROUGH RT HERE! WE TRANSITFANS LIKE TO RIDE ON IT! EITHER THAT OR GET MARK II CARS! *RAGE*

  • >_> not as fun as a street car :D u get to be in a "train" on the street, takes like 5 mins to get anywhere in Toronto, if the "train" hits a parked car with no one in it, you have a big show of it riping the car in half. And overall the street car is just nicer.. well unless you goto finch station and ride one of the trains, to another station i forgot. Get on the second train and feel like the train is tipping :D

  • Looks like Mayor Ford hasn't done his research. He wants to place existing subway trains on SRT tracks. This will not work. 1) The track gauge on the SRT is narrower than subways by 60mm 2) The curve between Midland and Ellesmere is too "curved" 3) The existing SRT stations will need to be rebuilt to accomodate subway trains

Might as well extend the BD line from Kennedy to Scarbourough Grace Hospital ending at STC.

  • thanks for this video.

  • I have NEVER ridden this line before. Thanks for showing me what it's like!

  • can't wait for the ttc to replace the SRT, although choosing the new LRVs might not have been the greatest of ideas

  • @blarghonk25 actually there not going to replace it, there buying new mark 2 trains

  • @Bottomless80Depths i know eh, Mccowan station has always been so darn useless, i always used to think why do they have it, when the STC stop is right next to it....

  • scarborough rt is dumb, it only ends at scarborough town centre

  • @MUN7001 Wrong. It ends at McCowan, it's just that more people get off at the Town Centre

  • ah okay thanks :)

  • its a good thing they installed the automatic announcements

  • do you work for TTC and drive these trains?

  • no theres a window at the front car

  • It's almost like it's trying to de-rail

  • Automated voices calling the stops? So how is that done? Measured by distance? They press a button? Otherwise if it's off sechedule, so are the stop announcements. The RT still seems like the red herring it always was. I'll be damned if I know why they didn't just extend the subway, or was it to try to give Scarberia its own identity?

  • I wonder that too. I think the operators press a button. And the automated stops are on buses and streetcars too, except on those they also have a digital display of the stop.

  • I'm pretty sure that its done by a box on the track and on the buses i think its a GPS. Sometimes at eglinton it gives the davisville announcement too early... so its probably that the box is off.

  • It's GPS.

  • At 0:40, you can see the old platform stuff.

  • Yeah, they made Kennedy a single track station to simplify turning the trains around (i.e. they just reverse). It'll be interesting to see what they do if and when the Eglinto LRT is built--will they use the SRT station?

  • sounds like a helicopter when it reaches full speed

  • if they had a blind mother/father /friend whatever or were directly blind themsleves ppl would give a shit because it directly affects them.

  • W00t lawrence east!

  • It is also now mandatory for any transit agency in Ontario to call out all stops.

  • On most of the buses and streetcars the automated announcements are called out through the P.A. system and there is also a screen indicating the upcoming stop such as: Dupont Street. And over the P.A. system "Next Stop: Dupont Street".

  • I like the new stop announcements, it wasn't there a few weeks ago.

  • was that a single track station at the start? long distance between stations, I get the impression that this line dosen't carry that many passengers

  • Well, it dosent't carry many people because there is not enough trains. Often people can't board during rush hour. I remember the RT carries around 43 000 ppl daily.

  • Kennedy was origanly built as a 2 track station with a loop but later converted to a one track as u see in the video.

Also The Srt was origanly going to be a Streetcar line but later built as it is now

(if u look closely at the lower platform at Kennedy you will see what use to be a Street Car platform.)
