Does anyone have the score in F-, E-, or E flat minor? I've been looking for sheet music for this song forever but A minor and F sharp minor are too high for me.
Now his voice is much fuller, deeper, technically equipped with pinpoint frasing and incomparable breathcontrol. Just compare his old and new recordings(romances, arias(Verdi espessially, but not just ), and it'll be obvious to you that the newer is mush superior.
Take his artistic growth and superb vocal technique. lyrical is not better than Verdian- just a different genre.
Now this is a gorgeous baritone'in top of his form, able to sing as dramatic as lyric roles perfectly.
@IfYourMomWereATaco Yes, it's on his compilation CD Portrait and first it was released on his early 90's Russian Romances CD. If you prefer his matured voice, this song is also featured on his latest Pushkin Romances. Literal translation of the title is "Don't sing, beautiful girl, around me/near me", but I took all translations from The Lied and Art Song Text Page (thank them)
you know I am not a fan of Hvorostovsky and his voice, and I promised you something, you know what I mean ;). But I must admit he sings this beautiful music very aesthetic and full of heart.
on minut 1.34 pianist made great mistake even Dmitry made grimas(face) not good...but i like this thing only problem most singer make to pathetic this song but it's have to be sing as simple song of memory about Georgia because Lermontov(poem for this song) he like this country
Thanks for this great series--I share your enthusiasm for both Hvorostovsky and Rachmaninov. But how about a kind word for the pianist? He works hard too!

Did he ever record this? If he did, I can't find it anywhere, what with all the different translations of the title...

This is one of my top three favorites that Dmitri sings. He puts every ounce of passion into each note.
(I wonder if he kept the pianist....)
