  • Hilarious

  • David Gilmour didn't WRITE the song. It was written by Roger Waters.

  • @moosey62 i think you will find he says it was written by a good friend of his (David Gilmour) and that he has been playing the guitar for a number of years. But then again i could be wrong. :) Floyd rocks :)

  • Please what song he played DAVID GILMOUR ??

  • @GillCrockett Don't know if trolling or serious..... but anyways, its Another Brick in the Wall Part 2. Listen to the whole album though. Its amazing.

  • @AFreakingMango So its juste a cover from Pink floyd

  • @GillCrockett Gilmour IS from Pink Floyd...

  • @cathrineholm @TheRatterdotcom Well I read somewhere that David Gilmour lend his red Strat to Mark Knopfler and therefore played on his blue Strat.

"Guitar tech Phil Taylor explained in an interview that Knopfler used Gilmour's guitar rig and managed to sound like himself when performing in the skit."

Anyway... I can also be mistaken.

  • whats the song, that the man behind the bars plays, called?

  • @afibhai ....it's ralph mctell, and the song is called streets of london.....

  • @im4out thank you! :D

  • I remember watching this when it was first broadcast! It would have been a great band to see jamming for an evening!

  • Watch the lady at the typwriter thing at the intro of Ace of Spades!!

  • Even the greatest guitar players makes mistakes -> Gilmour :)

  • im exactly the same, im shit without tab XD

  • Call me the lady ......Hahahahaha.

  • lol, Lemmy: "Oh no, I can't do it with that; see, cause it's not got any dots on it. I'm a professional!" xDD

  • I wonder what they all chatted about in the green room.

  • Long live Ralph McTell - sheer genius

  • This goes out to Kellie & Rodney Cheek, Daniel T. Belk, guitarists, music teachers and anyone else who wants a good laugh!

  • So glad that I have found this after all this time................a classic.

  • hahaha Gilmour has a hard time playin it wrong!

  • @gugge92 i thought that!!

  • This was hilarious. Anyone who has ever tried to learn the guitar from a music book can empathize with this sketch. It also underscores a truism that some of our best rock guitarists can’t read music.

  • is there a problem!?! hah!

  • Why no brian may or steve stevens.

  • I had never seen knopfler and Gilmour togather.

  • @SaeedBaba What's more, Knopfler is playing on David Gilmour's Red Stratocaster :)

  • @cluedo1 he must have borrowed it for a huge chunk of his career then ;-)

  • @cluedo1 Sure? Knopfler got plenty of red ones himself...

  • Has anyone ever seen this and forever after seen the name "Mark Knopfler" and NOT heard in their head "Mr Mark Ker-Nopfler" ?!

Lol! Wonderful, and so great to see such big names (esp Ralph McTell) going along with such a mad idea!!

    Wonderful, thanks for posting!

  • saw this years back but couldn't remember what show it was on. youtube is best thing ever.

  • Where can I find songs like the one at the end...?

  • Its johnny be goode by chuck berry

  • I remember this well ! I was hoping it would be on YouTube as I wanted my kids to see it. Thanks!!

  • Lemmy!!

  • 3:35 haha

  • Someone can put some legends?? I'm brazilian and I don't understand that they speakin'...

  • Doing a script for the whole video would be a long job. Which bits don't you understand?

  • 0:30 from 1:50

  • Rowland: Your honour, I put it to you that my father bought this book, One Hundred Easy Tunes for Guitar to further his lawful and commendable career as a professional musician of some long standing. My step-father, could you tell us exactly what happened on that fateful day when you entered Susan's Guitar Emporium of Waterloo?

Simon: I went into the shop and I bought this book.

Rowland: And am I right in thinking that the word that caught your eye that day was indeed the word "Easy"?

  • Simon: Yes, it was.

Rowland: And am I also right in thinking that when you returned home you discovered the book contained not one of these? [Uncovers Exhibit A] Could you in very technical terms tell the court what exactly this is?

Simon: Well, it's a diagram with dots that show you where to put your fingers on the guitar fretboard.

Judge: Please give us an example, Mr Bishop.

    Simon: Yes, m'lud

    Judge: Don't call me m'lud, call me m'lady, y'bastard.

    Simon: Sorry, m'lady, y'bastard.

  • McTell: I object. I can play any one of the tunes in this book.

Judge: Objection sustained. Proceed with an example, please.

[Ralph McTell plays Streets of London]

  • Rowland: Hang on, hang on, hold on, would the court please note he is not using one of the books. Not one! Could we have those last notes removed from the record? Right. Now if we could address ourselves to page 62, where Mr McTell dives into the world of popular music, with one Money for Nothing, a Dire Straits number. My father could not make head nor tail of this piece. So I call my first surprise witness, a man who had the misfortune to write this number - Mr Mark Ker-nopfler.

  • Thanks so much Man!!

  • mark was great

  • what does he say at 2:00

  • My father could not make head nor tail of this piece.

  • thank you so much

  • hahahahaha this is an awsome video

  • this is so funny

  • Did anyone ever find it weird that David Gilmour has a brother named Mark who also plays guitar, and Mark Knopfler has a brother named David who also played guitar in Dire Straits? It's like their parents got together over before they were all born and decided, "OK, we're both gonna have 2 sons, named them David and Mark, and only one of each will be guitar legends, while the other will pass into obscurity."

But then again, I'm probably just paranoid.

  • And is it just me or do Dave and Mark King look a bit similar...especially when Mark had the same haircut.

  • What the hell is Mark King doing now .That guy was awesome on bass.

  • I think he settled down with his wife and kids on the Isle of Wight and runs a bar.

  • ie - can no longer sell records

  • Is mark knopfler playing david gilmours red strat here, the one with the EMGS? Looks like it!

  • Yes Mark is indeed playing one of David's strats.

  • great clip does anyone have smith and jones

    doing purple haze ?

  • Way back in the day when French and Saunders were actually funny, writing original material, not doing some lazy, unfunny pastiche of the latest hit film/tv show...brilliant.

  • The best musician in that room was Rowland Rivron. 'Nuff said.

  • Gilmour was awesome!;f

  • Argueably F & S best sketch ever, fair play to all Guitarists who took part, fantastic

  • That was awesome! I love how everyone is so surprised to see Gilmour here. What, the man's not allowed to have a sense of humor? I love that he shows he does! <3

  • Wonderful!!! Thanks for sharing!

  • Just brilliant!! How the hell did they get that lot together all in the same room at the same time?!! Brilliant!!

  • nice clip

  • OMG That's Hillarious! Gotta Have Those Dots! Thanks for sharing:-)

  • and the name s music ????

  • who is the guy with the acustic guitar???

  • Ralph McTell, the guy who wrote the book. :D

  • It's called The Streets of London.

  • go gilmour!!!!!!!!i love it

  • Hehe this is a cracking sketch - fair play to all involved, it's a classic :o)

  • knopfler and gilmour = THE greatest guitarists EVER!! but i kinda like mark i little more

  • Go Knopfler, He kills all the others, especially in the group performance

  • Raw Sex (French & Saunders' band) ROCK MY WORLD!!

  • "Susan's guitar empoirium" : )

  • Great, I love dave!!

  • This is hilarious, and David Gilmour is awesome...is the prosecutor waving around a bottle of Malibu rum at the end? haha

  • I still love watching this after douzens of times :)

Best thing is that the "exhibit A" is infact an A chord :D

  • gilmour fan, and i loved it

  • This is awesome. Never heard of this show, but if this is British humor, I love it! I'm a big Gilmour fan, and this was bonus.

  • gebius, but how they got, especially David Gilmour to do that sketch is beyond me!!

    Yours,

    cdgw

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!! Notice they all find it harder to play bad than they do to play good! :P

  • I love the way professional musicians can't act unprofessional. Funny!

  • One of the best on YouTube, superb!

  • Coooool!!! rock on!!
