have you ever ate fries with vinegar? saw that on tv once, and since then i love it. so maybe you could add some in your mixture. i know i will ;) PS i love your vids and the way you present them, you are like mommy showing to her little girl how to do stuff. keep 'em coming! :)
I was thinking when you were chopping those TWO cloves of garlic that they must've been whoppers. I always just pretty much double whatever any recipe calls for.
They need salt. Potatoes *always* need salt. I'd even give them a sprinkle of Slap Ya Mama to kick 'em up.
@anmoose Tried them again last night and added salt but still not a whole heck of a lot of bang. I have decided that our garlic is probably old (like everything else). I will go to the farmer's market and see if I can't get some supposedly fresher stuff
OMG. I am SO making these tomorrow night with a ribeye steak. Think I will press the garlic to get more juice (I just stick a bunch of cloves in a baggie and roll them with my rolling pin. Gives you almost a paste that is VERY potent. Then use a rubber spatula to get it ALL out.) and add salt and pepper.
Such an awesome idea! Thanks for posting this one. My life will never be the same. LOL
@gypsylor Did you make them? like them? I believe I have a tube of garlic paste. Maybe I will add some of that. Hmmm. I retried this last night with salt and still did not get what I was looking for. I think our garlic is "old" like everything else that si shipped here. Ugh.
@CookingAndCrafting I did!!!! And they were AWESOME! However, I did change it up a it . . . . .I coated them first and THEN baked them. Then sprinled the salt and pepper on . . . . . I think maybe the olive oil crisped them up really good too . . . . . But the meal was a hit: Fancy fries (lol), ribeyes and a tomato, red onion, balsamic thing I do. You really made me look good with htis one!!!
You might want to try crushing the garlic (almost to a paste consistency) instead of chopping it to bump up the garlicky flavor. Also a little salt and pepper in the olive oil mixture might help.
@aohmann WOW! I didn't know that people haven't seen or heard of this before (you are not alone). I wouldn't use ketchup on it but I bet Scott probably did because he loves ketchup
@tweetnes That is Big Brother doing it's finest work. Google tracks you and places ads of things that you have looked up previously. That in itself is scary.
Yeah, I opened a package that had that paper tape but it also had that string to reinforce it. Put my finger in there to break it and...my skin broke instead. NOT FUN!! And didn't feel like getting garlic in there. Yuck
@rozozzy haha I wish. I JUST got my first burn from the oven ever a month ago haha

@GiselleFernanda07 I wouldn't know how to get them curly w/o buying some contraption... a contraption that I would probably not use very often. I will google it and see but I would have to say it may be highly unlikely that I will be going them
@GiselleFernanda07 okay. I take that back. It uses a fairly small gadget that is relatively inexpensive. I will put it on a growing list of things to do
We love Gordon Biersch garlic fries! They are the ones that they sell at the SF Giants baseball games...exept theirs are like $8 an order there. Gonna re-watch...I was disctracted here and was just listening. (Oh, and "Hi red spoon! We miss you! LOL)
yes, i do want these for breakfast now hahaha! although i have to say the fact that the garlic is raw made me think the garlic flavor would be way to strong! surprised you didn't taste it enough... but yeah for sure salt and pepper would be yums.
@snarkdetriomphe Please keep in mind that everything we get here is older than dirt, so maybe the garlic was not "fresh"? Let me know what you think with the steak fries. I am going to attempt to do this again hopefully today with the salt
Dumb question? Do potatoes grow in Hawaii? Or are they shipped over ? That is some garlic in the fries. Can't imagine them with chopped fresh garlic. Wow ! Sounds like you are enjoying them tho and they are an ongoing thing there. Shine on ! Love your vids.
I'll try this but put the garlic oil on the fries before cooking so they're extra crispy and have the garlic toasted through them i'll let you know how it goes maybe do a video response :)
@wildheart5 I haven't, but gothypingu said they are going to do it and post a response. Should be interesting! I also have more fries left as we only used half of the bag. Will try it myself :)
I do oven roasted potatoes this way but never thought of using frozen fries. I add a healthy pinch of Cajun seasoning like Tony's to the oil and garlic. Soooo good!! I'll have to try this as ya know I have to meet my minimum daily requirement for garlic !
