  • Could anyone tell me the source of the picture at 3:50? Or a way to find these magnificant drawings

  • Terence would have made the best philosophy prof ever. "Your homework for the weekend is to take five grams of psilocybin mushrooms. Failure to comply will result in more homework."

  • @Fathoms2004 successful completion will result in more homework.

  • I'm glad this video has as much views as it does. God knows we need it.

  • think I might take a trip to the Amazon...

  • wtf did you do to the volume? what a dumbass

  • 75 people are selling Consumer Capitalism 5.0

  • fuckin' gay

  • Awesome!

  • Over the years as I get older I understand this video better and better..

  • Utterly splendiferous. Just listening to Terrence causes me to have a systems upgrade. Many thanks to this great man and to you for posting.

  • You can't compare the human brain with something man made like an operating system. It's like comparing tiny flashlights to massive stars.

  • @LeathaFace17 True, but i feel it is a decent comparison. Your culture is all you know and all that you can do to function in a society. The culture of china is different from that of japan, and both of those are much different from the culture of the United States. Hell, even between the deep south and the west coast there is a different culture. He compares these to operating systems in the sense that Mac OS X can run different programs(ideas/beliefs) from Windows and vice versa.

  • @LeathaFace17 You missed the point of the lecture. He's not comparing the brain to an operating system, he's comparing culture to an operating system, and through that, the brain to a computer; which is exactly what it is--albeit a very complex one. Culture is an operating system. We made it all up. It is a man-made system, a language, a structured set of social rules through which we are able to interact.

Stop taking things so literally and look at what they represent.

  • Jus found out about this guy but I can't hear shit

  • i love how his voice rolls from right to left in my head phones...i feel like im spinning...the bard mckenna is the best

  • just what i was looking for! thanks terence mckenna!

  • terence is amazing

  • mushrooms and terence saved my life

  • mushrooms and terence saved my life

  • STOP GOING FROM ONE HEADPHONE TO THE OTHER!!!!!

  • He has quite a few good points, but I'm not sure that psychedelics is the best first step for this. I love hallucinogens and use them often, but I think that careful thought & study of a variety of topics (other cultures, science, history) is definitely a prerequisite for truly understanding your own biases.

  • @minna420

That is a major part of it...but the psychedelics are a way to sort of "test" yourself and see whether you've removed these biases to an appropriate degree or not. They are taking the knowledge you gained from thought and study and actually integrating them into your psyche, unifying your opposites and polarities.

  • @alliant Okay, that makes sense. Thank you. :)

  • @alliant Good point. However, as Terence himself often noted, the psychedelic experience precipitated by ingesting an entheogen (mushrooms, Ayahuasca, Salvia Divinorum, et al) is more than a mere biological experience of chemicals acting upon the subtle neurology of a human brain in a manner similar to how being deeply moved by a piece of music is more than simply one's ears responding to vibrational patterns coming across the air in a seemingly purposeful fashion.

  • 0:52 wow amazing and all of those types of words ran through my head

  • timonthy leary, robert anton wilson, terence mckenna = the holy trinity

  • This is complete bullshit. Who the fuck cares about all this

  • @kdog0088 you are a very weak person

  • @Stupidhippystoner I guess you buy into all this garbage. Mckenna and people like him think they know everything. They try to interpret their experiences in life as the way to ultimately perceive and find out the purpose of being. Its such a waste of time listening to other peoples subjective experiences on the matter. Listening to someone talking about a "change" in your well being is a complete waste of time. Experience for yourself not through the eyes of someone else.

  • @kdog0088

That was the essential point McKenna made - to go have psychedelic experiences FOR ONESELF and not merely eat up his own speculations. How you jump to the conclusion that McKenna "thought he knew everything" and that his ideas were "garbage" is astounding. Especially since he never tired of mentioning that his own ignorance was baffling and that he never considered himself a particularly intelligent person.

    mindless anti-McKenna-ism

  • @kdog0088 it's ok don't worry about it.

  • McKenna was Jesus V.5.01

  • excellent talk, but the background music was annoying.

  • @Greg763 I liked the music, it adds a trippy aspect and repels people who are unfamiliar with Terence Mckenna. But it is true, sometimes it's best to just hear the raw lecture.

  • Capitalism isn't reason for environmental problems. Lack of real capitalism and a mixed socialis/capitalist economy is the real problem. Funny that this guy posing as an all-knowing shaman doesn't even know this basic fact.

  • @iraszl go back to watching family guy clips

  • @iraszl you're clearly a genius for making that assumption. "basic fact" lol dumbass

  • @iraszl Infinite growth is not possible on a finite planet. Undeterred capitalism will lead to the destruction and stripping of the Earths resources in the name of profit. It cannot be sustained, that is why it must be regulated.

  • @iraszl Your retarded

  • @iraszl Dude.. come on, don't act like an idiot.

  • I think I may actually have enjoyed that, but the music was creeping me out too much.

  • Thanks for putting thsi up but please, clean up the sound. t takes away from what s an excellent lecture.

  • Wow, that was great

  • this might be the most important video on youtube

  • Im a big fan of joe and terence and graham... But the thing is if they can't change the world then no one can, were fucked to be honest false hope this is as much as I would love a world like the avatar movie its not gana happen. :(

  • @baden4321 Not with that attitude it wont :)

  • @MoralisticAthiest Optimism is hard to source at 16 years of age.

  • @baden4321 sixteen? You got all the time in the world to develop it then :D

  • I so wish he was still alive to comment on our deteriorating world today. I just know he would find a way to make everything seem ok. The world is a darker place without him.

  • for sharing~

  • listen to this with earplugs.

his voice moved from right to left and back in my head :P

    btw this was AWESOME

  • I hate this degenerate, worthless modern world. I want it to crash and burn.

  • @DrDerpwerth It's coming. Any day now.

  • Does it bother anyone that Terrence McKenna's book library was mysteriously burned down?

  • @basspliff187 Yes. What an incredibly strange coincidence ;)

  • @basspliff187 PLEASE HELP ME!!! I once posted on TerenceMcKennaTube's youtube comments what happens when we die and he replied "You're still ignorant...so there may be hope for you, but that ain't my problem because you're blocked." Me taking another drug(whether it be weed of shrooms) will depend on the next answer you give me, is life just one scene in an never ending movie, or do I just keep on the same script, and relive it over and over again?

  • @basspliff187 WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!?!

  • @iRob420 Yeah, kinda reminds me of Fahrenheit 451. or what the romans did. burn all the oppositional knowledge...to keep people minds enslaved.

  • @basspliff187 check out electric caves dot com

  • @basspliff187 is that true?? If it was then I wopuld most certainly raise my eyebrows...

  • @basspliff187 all libraries usually are prone to catching fire shit im pretty sure alot of us here have falling asleep smoking a spliff and burned holes in our clothes and books come on now not everything is out to destroy you

  • dude, I didn't say "everything" is out to destroy me. You just butchered and generalized what i said.. Of course books are flamable, thats also why people don't smoke spliffs and burn shit around them for that reason you idiot. All I was SUGGESTING, is that its a CORRELATIONAL COINCIDENCE, that a body of knowledge with original works that happen to be one of a kind. Do i need to mention these books were a large influence on Terence himself?! DO YOU FOLLOW WHAT I AM SAYING DUDE?

  • @basspliff187 Yes.

  • @basspliff187 thats kinda fucked up...why would his library burn down if he is an uncredited source? (we all know the answer to that)

  • @basspliff187 what book would you reccomend for me to read? did terence write anything?

  • @9letters2woorden "Food Of The Gods" by McKenna is a good start. Also look for "Beyond The Brain" by Stanislav Grof (or anything by him), anything by Joseph P. Farrell PhD, and anything by Robert Anton Wilson. Look for them here on Youtube also.

  • @9letters2woorden I think he wrote a book about the Beatles.

  • @basspliff187

so much. that's where the 'bulk' of his philosophical work was suppose to be found. where we could find some more 'systematic' presentation of his ideas (for the sake of snobby academians who doubt this man's brilliance as a thinker - and also for the sake of having MORE mckenna rather then less. this benefits everyone intelligent).

  • @alliant No amount of McKenna nor the other superb souls like him will ever be able to break through the firewalls of indoctrination that have been installed upon the brain-consciousness of most academics - without a direct, deep, experience of an entheogen.

    1. Fish don't know they're wet.

    2. For the devout believer no evidence is necessary. To the devout skeptic no evidence will suffice.

Few indeed are the academics inclined toward upgrading their entire consciousness.

  • @basspliff187 I wasn't really surprized when i read it. it also bothers me alot that Rupert Sheldrake was stabbed...

  • is the naked ape a transcendentalist? or vice versa....

  • WusD

  • What a brilliant man, a brilliant mind. Truly a modern day shaman for our culture. So sad that he has passed. Wonder what dimension he is in now ...

  • @jrhgswrhfg He is still aiding us man, think about it we can listen and look at his stuff. He still not gone.

  • Ego death is pure nakedness, the shedding of the personality self.

  • Terance Mckenna was one of the best minds of the 20th century.

Check out what Marshall McLuhan had to Say!! Old lectures are on youtube.

Also check Tom Campbell....the Simulation argument is super Plausible, and I am starting to think that Terance would agree... he alluded to it Many times in his lectures and talks towards the end...

  • I have to know what the picture is at 0:52... Well actually... There's so many great works of art. Could you reference more please?

  • What an astonishing man Terence McKenna actually was.

  • @captainmelvin I think he used the concept of reductionism to help modern dominator minds grasp the concept

  • @psygenesys Sure, and it works.

  • Wow

  • Trippy as acid audio , hes walking around me. 0_o

  • Can someone please explain the low sampling rate/stereotypes bit to me? Thank you

  • Free psychedelic drugs for all!

  • @youdevil6 If people knew their potential, I am sure they wouldn't even mind to pay for them.

They are free if people do there research, mushrooms grow wild in natural habitats, and if they are not sure about picking the right ones, then all you need is the Spores which you can order over the web legally, a pressure cooker, brown rice flour, Vermiculite and Pearllite which you can buy from garden centres, a few glass jars, a clear plastic container, patience and a bit of loving care.

  • Comment removed

  • @secondarysetee Strongly agree with you , as well as this kind of trance music on ufo videos or even scary movies it's just dumb haha

  • @secondarysetee you can torrent his audio clips

  • @secondarysetee if you can't understand the power and beauty of music and let alone understand what genre it is... then you need an 'upgrade'.

  • Comment removed

  • @secondarysetee He's very right. Music is debatably nature's greatest gift.

  • @secondarysetee PLEASE HELP!!! I asked some dude on youtube, what happens when you die and he sayed "Life is indeed a scene in an infinite movie, and we are given a script with repeating themes, however it is our duty as conscious beings to transcend our scripts in order to break the cycle and 'become." well if you think about it we can have a singularity on technology.so isnt fear good for that purpose? maybe thats why the government wants to keep us all sober?

  • this man just opened a whole new world for me in those 8 minutes

  • @jimmyyazz haha yep! Good to hear it brother.

  • @jimmyyazz

Wait till you try some of the drugs he likes... lololol

  • whats the ambient music playing in this vid, I like!

  • 74 people are running with Culture: Lite

  • @codyPSP so true

  • Check out the possible Reality that upgrading you OS could create at whatifeverythingwerefree.blogspot.com. Start in 2008 archives

  • @captainmelvin Hello people, this speak describes exactly the state of things, and should be taken seriously. The new OS is ready to be installed.

  • why the hell is the audio panning back and forth, it is super annoying, no offense to the actual content

  • you put a lot of love into this video, and I can only feel love for it.

  • thanks

  • @jboyaca cool, you keep on deluding yourself....Just try and keep it to yourself in the future?

  • @jboyaca...Not sure where to start here, first i will blow my own trumpet ive experienced dmt & changa, is that good enough credentials?Ii could go and list all the drugs ive done, but then i would just look foolish. to pull you up on another point DMT has never been found naturally occuring within the human body, this includes the brain. No amount of wishing on your part will fool me, im afraid.Ive done my homework, thats why i feel the need to warn the impressionable about false gurus.

  • Comment removed

  • @jboyaca of course you think your brain is working better, but maybe that is the illusion? And the drugs are just making you think like you know better? Beware of pitfalls in this logic, as you cannot reason with the unreasonable. To use a crass analogy - valium makes you feel like nothing matters, until you try and get clean from doing them, then, as barbiturates tend to do, they kill those who try and go cold turkey.

  • wow amazing thanks

  • One of my all time favorites from Terence McKenna!

  • that fading is pissing me off

  • @EtchedSketch Fading is called panning which works exceptionally well with the Ambient but you dislike it so why am i bothering to respond lol.

  • mckenna was a populist. If you think he said anything original, then you really havent done your homework, you have merely swallowed what other people have told you to swallow.Sound similar to someone else's argument?Of course it does.Mckenna suffered from exactly the mentality he tried so feebly to denounce. So, to spell it out, he was a boring, egotistical, unoriginal hypocrite.Same can be said of graham hancock. Now move along children.....

  • @chilledtorsion I DARE you to take psychedelics and then ask yourself under the influence to show you as you really are and you will soon see who your maker is :)

  • @TEARDUCTER ....you dare me?lolz how enlightened.did mckenna teach you that?

  • Creator of the next level

  • Terence Mckenna is an eternal shaman

  • @captainmelvin Ya I would agree with you!

  • i think the comparison is solid, if at least by using a well selected bucket of words.

  • sounds like someone is on dmt

  • where can i find the picture from 1:59?

  • @DweeD1516 go to 1:59 lol

  • @DweeD1516 search for "psychedelic art smoker"

  • @WASDsweden :D appreciate it man! i love this picture. theres some other interesting ones too thanks..

  • @DweeD1516 google images- search under psychedelic art

  • i dont want to get intouch with my inner ape, i want to get intouch with my future fish bird

  • Wonderful music! Perfect conveyence of alien worlds, altered mind states, of the realm between thought and thing. I should get an album by Murcof. People saying bad things about the music should get a clue and realize that the 10,000,000th rendition of the commercialistic rock song format is already very, very old. I recommend Dead C as another good band for these kinds of videos...and let the droning last, say, 40 minutes :-)

  • this is something that everyone should hear atleast once

  • FUCK this is trippy with headphones on

  • The music almost ruins the beauty of everything he's saying

  • @OutFlowProductions I disagree: it perfectly conveys alien and altered consciousness, which is one of the graces of psychedelics & psychatctives...

  • your mind has been altered already you just don't realise it.you have been scared by the mind controllers.into believing that it is scary.that is what they do to us.to prevent us from enlightening our selfs and living a more fulfilled life.

shamans have been using these substances for thousands of years and they have survived.if it were harmful then im sure they would have been extinct long ago.it is only fear, which anyone can overcome.it actually opens your mind up to unlimited possibility's.

  • Mind-altering stuff is a bit scary =O

  • he does this for material gain

  • if you dont like the fucking Music just put it on Mute. Duh!! o.0

  • @MaladaptiveCatalyst That's funny.

  • standards of living

    standards of love

    questioning gifts, given from above

tolerating liars and working to death for STUFF

    consider: human evolution

and when will "enough" be "enough"

Ayahuasca showed me that logic is nothing without meaning or a goal, only life can give meaning, treat it with empathy, acceptance, and respect

  • @nomorejournos I was wondering if you would be comfortable telling me more about your experience?

  • @novan08

I have tried yellow aya and black. I strongly suggest going to a professional with Black.

Yellow showed me an infinite feild of lines made of light, constantly rearranging themselves into plant-like structures. afterwards, it's said that the aya works on you even after the visions end, I have been seeing through a different template, feeling weather unconsiously, and seeing through people's behavior and AT who they really are. Remember u are what u eat. eat "man-made" become slave

  • @nomorejournos thanks for sharing my friend

  • If you've ever taken or been with someone whose taken psychedelics knows that your usually to fucked up to have any meaningful communication let alone remember. It doesn't erase any "cultural operating system" it still exists. In fact with psychedelics your negative emotions and fears are often amplified (bad trip). A "good trip" is when you escape reality and enjoy your altered perception. Drugs will never free your mind. Chemical slavery is not freedom.

  • @OpiatesAndTits Mr Opiate You are Completely Wrong, You have never had a Pscyhedelic Experience.

Dont Criticise what ya Cant Understand.

  • @Hustis1 ive had loads of psy experiences and he is correct.it would seem you are suffering from psychedelic ego syndrome.well done, how enlightened of you

  • @OpiatesAndTits good and bad are just names for things you labeled. you get what you want from psychedelics.

  • @TheSleepyFeeling well exactly. Psychedelics are fun and even the "bad trips" I had I can look back in amusement. They were a valuable experience in my life, but they didn't free my mind from any "cultural operating system"

  • @OpiatesAndTits thats your loss my friend. i felt myself washed clean under mushrooms. it was amazing but it took many years to achieve this even tho it was not my goal.

  • @OpiatesAndTits well then how do you free your mind?

  • @nakedape20 its already free. Chances are if your looking at this video you already feel you live in a sick culture. If your "cultural operating system" controlled you why would you bother taking interest in videos like this? If you mean "free your mind" in a more spiritual sense I believe it comes down to a few things: learning, love, and meditation (awareness practices). But again I feel these things don't help you achieve freedom rather they help you realize you are already free.

  • @OpiatesAndTits spot on mate.to say that ingesting toxins makes your brain work better, is just the POV of a druggy.

  • @chilledtorsion just so you know shrooms and marijuana are not toxins and they dont "make your brain better" it just allows you to be more open minded and more creative.

  • @williamherrell why thankyou will, im glad you feel as though you need to think for me.

  • @chilledtorsion the brain takes on alternative routes, most routes are generally blocked by calcium and calcification (which ultimately annoys me) Mushroom's and DMT could perhaps break these bridges, they say those who breaks these brain blocks.. could simply be called insane... society.. culture... conditioning. its GOOD to WIPE OUT plant life and living materials so we can place DEAD material in its place and fill it with RADIOACTIVE equipment and CANCER causing FREQUENCIES.

  • @X3lfl3X look bruv, im a scientist by trade, so if you could quit with the pseudo scientific babble, id appreciate it.Not only are you not making sense, you are also not making any sense in quite an unlettered way

  • @chilledtorsion ROFL.

  • This is the stupidest thing I've ever commented, but Saints McKenna and Watts have put me in a sort of zazen and I'm afraid it's the best I can do right now: he says "pharmacological agent" at exactly 4:20. COINCIDENCE???
