The marianas islands (including guam) was a province of the Spanish East Indies. Capital in Manila. It was only a political designation. Along with Palau and Caroline islands. And that was only after mexican independence. Prior to that Guam was under the spanish viceroyalty in Mexico. Guam was a part of the SPANISH colonial system and not the philippine republic. Guam was part of Japan during the war. Does not make us Japanese. Philippines was part of USA. Doesnt make filipinos Americans.
of course there is similar. there is similar colonial history. just like the latin american countries sometimes costumes looks very similar. and carribean costumes looks similar. and african countries costume looks similar. what is your point? it doesnt make her filipina. if she goes to the philippines...she will never feel like it is her homeland. because it is not. even if she may look like a filipina. filipinos hate being filipino it seems.
MARIANAS ISLANDS (GUAM), PALAU, CAROLINE ISLANDS, PHILIPPINE ISLANDS, were all a part of the SPANISH EAST INDIES with administrative capital in Manila. But each was its own separate area. And all the islanders and filipinos and indonesians come from the same Malay-austronesian stock so of course there are facial similarities. Filipinos, Indonesians, Malaysians, Chamorro, okinawan, micronesian, etc. Just like miss korea looks japanese. And miss guatemala looks mexican. what a dumb comment.
